Emphasis on neat. There is a certain beauty in the crispness of that photo. I’d love to see that photo with nary a ripple on the surface of the lake should the conditions and your presence at sunrise intersect.
What is the little fat lump to the left? Is that a trick of depth perception and it’s a protrusion of land into the lake or is it a pregnant rise on the far shore.
Or am I being insensitive to natural geographical features that only time and glaciers can address?
That photo shows what you get when there's 0% cloud cover.
The "fat lump to the left" — the hill that the sun approaches but never climbs — might be the site of what is now called the Mendota Mental Health Institute, which once housed the famous murderer Ed Gein. But, looking at the map, I think that's a little farther to the left. I think the hill is Maple Bluff, which is a beautiful and expensive neighborhood. It's both a hill and a rounded peninsula protruding into the lake.
