On Election Day in Georgia, polling places are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and if you are in line by 7 p.m., you are allowed to cast your ballot. Nothing in the new law changes those rules....
So where would Biden get this perception that ordinary workers were getting the shaft because the state would “end voting at five o’clock"? We have one clue. The law used to say early “voting shall be conducted during normal business hours.” Experts said that generally means 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The new law makes it specific — “beginning at 9:00 AM and ending at 5:00 PM.”
Obviously, nearly everyone would read Biden's statement to refer to Election Day. The bit about early voting could have been used to cut Biden some slack and back off from the full 4-Pinocchio denouncement, but that would be wrong, because the new law didn't even cut back early voting.
I'm glad to see Kessler giving 4 Pinocchios when deserved. Last month, I was critical of him for backing off to 3 and said: "Stop babying Biden! He's the damned President. If he needs to be babied, get him out of the presidency."

Nitpicky, but am I the only one annoyed by putting the quotation mark between "early" and "voting"? Either put "early" in brackets inside the quotation mark, or move "voting" outside the quotation marks.
"Pinocchios"
Such a childish, immature, nonchalant way of expressing when someone with power is deliberately lying in furtherance of national division. It's so cute!!!

The lie will be repeated ad infinitum as long it serves the swamps interests.
Pretty soon, you'll have to be vaccinated to vote. I'm counting on that being proposed.
ThE lying delusional insane collective hivemind left are all pant-wetting over restrictions on handing out goodies to people while they are in line to vote. As if they will starve or dehydrate to death while waiting in line. or as if people cannot bring their own water? OK.
You know - next time I'm in line at the post office - I demand the left bring me a sandwich., I'm HUNGRY!
Ah the exception proving the rule for us: generally we the big lying media will cover for Joe, but this one time we will throw you sticklers a bone.
"Nitpicky, but am I the only one annoyed by putting the quotation mark between "early" and "voting"? Either put "early" in brackets inside the quotation mark, or move "voting" outside the quotation marks."
I agree that is confusing, but I bet he did it because the statutory text he's quoting did not have the word "early" next to "voting." There was probably a heading that made the provision about pre-Election Day procedures and then the quote was somewhere underneath.
It's Election DAY, not Election month. You need to be alive on election day to cast a vote and the only way to ensure that is to allow voting only on election day unless you have a legit reason (i.e., being out of town) and have requested an absentee ballot.
The propaganda talking heads have been claiming that you are now breaking the law in Georgia if you give a voter in line, some water. People are going to die of dehydration trying to vote!
But of course what the law states, mirroring dozens of other states, it is against the law to give away food and drink at the polling place.
Like always with leftist...if its so bad, why are you forced to lie?
What motivated Biden to lie?
I know.Harry Reid. When he was confronted about the lie he told, claiming Romney wasnt paying federal taxes. Reid replied, "we won didn't we?"
The left lies with immunity.
Pretty soon, you'll have to be vaccinated to vote. I'm counting on that being proposed.
That popped into my head this morning, contemplating vaccination passports.
When going to the polls, you don't have to prove identity, just vaccination. Whoops! saying that out loud exposes the whole opposition to ID as insane. So vaccination passports required for all, EXCEPT when voting. Much more sane /sarc/
Suppose there is a water leak somewhere in some building in Atlanta at 6 a.m. on Election Day.
If that happens, then the Republican poll-watchers should be sent home at 10 p.m., while the Democrat vote-counters continue to "count" votes all night.
“They're gonna put y'all back in chains,” Biden added.
I agree that is confusing, but I bet he did it because the statutory text he's quoting did not have the word "early" next to "voting." There was probably a heading that made the provision about pre-Election Day procedures and then the quote was somewhere underneath.
But normally wouldn't a writer add the "early" in brackets to clarify that the passage referred to early voting? It would seem to make more sense.
I've lived in the Atlanta metro area for about 15 years. While I believe the time window for early, in-person voting is too long, I've used that option almost exclusively. I think it's great - especially the inclusion of at least one Saturday opportunity. Early in-person voting requires a photo ID and I'd like to see that standard be consistent for absentee ballot voting.
I've grown really tired of Stacey Abrams and others who have been gaming the system for decades and are now screaming like stuck pigs by efforts to verify the integrity of the election process.
C'mon, man. You guys and Kessler have obviously never heard of Jim Eagle's threats.
"So where would Biden get this perception"
He actually just made it up, for maximum effect, the prog way.
But of course what the law states, mirroring dozens of other states, it is against the law to give away food and drink at the polling place.
Back in the 19th century, and before, it was common practice for political candidates to dispense whiskey to their supporters at the polls. Even George Washington, IIRC, when running for the House of Burgesses back in the 18th. Probably something we don’t want to do these days.
Stacey Abrams has made a career of this sort of thing.
Like thanos said of tivan 'it must be like breathing for him'
Pretty soon, you'll have to be vaccinated to vote.
I note that Rutgers this Fall will require incoming students to be vaccinated.
Kessler is still a Dem hack.
The left want 2 year olds to vote, illegal entrants to vote, vote for a month, just keep counting until the left control everything.
If you stand against that - you're a racist.
OT: The funeral service that is open to the public for Fallen Officer Eric Talley is - mobbed - and it warms my heart.
Joe Biden lying? Amazing. I'd never expect that from a man who started his campaigning by Lying about Trump and Charlottesville. But glad the WaPo can be honest, like 1 time in a 100.
They nitpick this today so people will think their fact checking is legit tomorrow when they perpetuate the left's five Pinocchio whopper.
Reading the wapo and the NyT is like reading Pravda in the USSR and trying to find something true.
I don't know the difference between 'Falsely Claims' and "Lies' but it's annoying that Trump lied while Biden falsely claims.
He lied about his wifes accident, what wouldnt he lie about?
I guess WaPo still feels they need to maintain some sort of slight veneer of objectivity so they have to occasionally call out the blatant lies by powerful Democrats. But I still have zero respect for them as an actual news outlet. I went to the WaPa home page, no headline about the 9th(!) Cuomo accuser or his 100 VIPs for Covid tests... or the 86 million ICE is spending to house 1200 migrants in hotels.
They nitpick this today so people will think their fact checking is legit tomorrow
Exactly. They do this across the board: a human interest here, a human violation there. The four clowns today, portends of a Twilight tomorrow.
As I've said previously, the new bill expands the number of total hours during which one can vote in-person in Georgia. It expands weekend hours. And it doesn't change the hours on election day.
I have a rule. If you call me a racist, I want your real name attached to your claim. Because defamation is a real thing. And calling someone a racist today is a dangerous thing to do. Of course, there are other ways to take action against anonymous defamers.
I have no problem coming after you.
Don't know...this is the man that riterated the mask mandate.
Speaking of which, does Kamala's mask have a Willie Brown-sized hole in it?
Tell me when he gets to the part about Trump starving children to death.
A baby, a protozoic President, an administration in its infancy, but is he viable. That is the question and choice.
Ann, I think that misplaced quote was an error. Or it is there for the reasons you define.
Legislative language is corned beef.
Allegations of diversity (e.g. bear false witness) require extraordinary proof and accountability.
In honor of the Biden administration, they should replace "Pinocchios" with Hunter Biden "Boners."

Hahaha. Blogger blocks Eggplant emojis...
Just like Hunter Biden's laptop!
"Stop babying Biden! He's the damned President. If he needs to be babied, get him out of the presidency."
Joe Biden is not the President of the United States.
Kessler doesn't seem to have convinced the Post's commenters.
WaPo is still a propaganda rag. None of it has any credibility.
Even propaganda rags know that if you get too ridiculous that even the credulous stop paying attention. Biden managed to come up with not only a lie but one so far out of left field that no one understands where he got the idea in the first place because the whole concept is ridiculous. Even propagandists have to have some standards.
That said, WaPo's fact checking has been doing their usual BS with the Georgia voting law, declaring true things to be false from a certain point of view, knocking down strawmen they setup, and generally acting in bad faith. They get no praise from me. Liars will tell the truth when it serves them, and a liar who tells the truth is still a liar.
I have never heard anyone say to me "geez I wish it was easier to vote".
https://youtu.be/UHsLA_0wj-s?t=178
It should be "Jim Hummingbird" for the comparison to make any sense at all. And even then it's retarded nonsense from Old Folksy Joe.
Kudos for continuing to provide a public service in paying attention to this stuff. Always nice to know what passes for officially blessed, conventional wisdom in Dem-media land. It saves your devoted readers countless hours of profitless effort. As for the idea that "[i]f he needs to be babied, get him out of the presidency," I get the impression that they've noticed and are already working on that. But no one seems to have told Biden yet that he won't be on the ballot next time around, or even be in the WH when 'next time' rolls around.
You think the WaPo commenter nutjobs care about Biden's blatant lying? LOL
I'm Full of Soup said...
I have never heard anyone say to me "geez I wish it was easier to vote".
And I have never had anyone say to me: "I just want 11780 votes" but there exists irrefutable proof that former president Trump asked the Georgia Secretary of States to alter the state vote count.
Back in the 19th century, and before, it was common practice for political candidates to dispense whiskey to their supporters at the polls.
Iowa law used to close all places that served alcohol on election day. Just because buying votes with booze was very common.
when you've lost the WaPo.... You've lost Middle Washington DC!!!
So does Biden get impeached for lying to the American people? It's not like WaPo will behave as if Biden wronged them and the American people for lying. They acted that way about Trump, but never for Biden. I'd say WaPo is still babying Biden and every other Democrat.
Keep in mind WaPo freely admits the whole Pinocchio thing is Op/Ed. If you believe it's news however they're not gonna correct you!
And I have never had anyone say to me: "I just want 11780 votes" but there exists irrefutable proof that former president Trump asked the Georgia Secretary of States to alter the state vote count.
That's been proven to be a lie. The audio file of the phone call was found a couple of weeks ago.
So they're keeping a database of all his lies, right?
"That's been proven to be a lie. The audio file of the phone call was found a couple of weeks ago."
The lefty trolls here are all double-digit IQ keyboard warriors for justice.
Arguing with them is like talking to a dog.
It's super tempting, I know, but best to avoid engaging...
What difference, at this point, does it make?
Harumph!
gadfly - no. that is not accurate.
Anybody who thought voting for Biden would bring a more honest or transparent administration was delusional. This guy has been lying to the public for forty years.
That's been proven to be a lie. The audio file of the phone call was found a couple of weeks ago.
You actually think a proven lie will stop gadfly and his fellow, leftwing shitbags from repeating it?
Yeah, gadfly, you are lying. I imagine it's a long time habit of yours.

Well said. But Althouse forgets we have no president named Biden.
>>I note that Rutgers this Fall will require incoming students to be vaccinated.
The company I work for is still mostly closed to employees. A few essential staff only are allowed.
Soon, we will allow employees back, but only if you are vaccinated.
But...
Even though everyone will be vaccinated, and you will have to attest every day that you are not sick. You'll still have to wear a mask and social distance.
By definition, our workplace will be one of the safest places in town. But you will still have to wear a mask.
'Why?' is a question nobody is asking.
And I have never had anyone say to me: "I just want 11780 votes" but there exists irrefutable proof that former president Trump asked the Georgia Secretary of States to alter the state vote count.
You need to pay closer attention Gadfly. That reported call was Fake News.
Anyone surprised?
I have a subscription to the Atlanta paper (ajc.com), mainly just to read the sports section and obits I hardly ever read the news. While this bill was under consideration in the legislature I never saw a headline, e-mail link, or notification that did not describe it, right in the headline, as the "voter suppression" or "voter restriction" bill. Never was it described in any way as an improvement bill or increasing the integrity of the voting process. The Dems and the national media have blown the changes all out of proportion; there is absolutely nothing in this bill that will restrict anyone from voting. I can't believe how they have gone on and on over the water issue. It does however help to keep money out of the process where it doesn't belong, like the way Zuck and wife flooded Fulton, Dekalb, Cobb, and Gwinnett counties with millions.
You need to pay closer attention Gadfly. That reported call was Fake News.

God, I wish there was a better class of trolls here.
What would Joe--or for that matter the Wa Poo know about working people?
God, I wish there was a better class of trolls here.
Seconded. This could be a great blog, interesting topics, a Hostess that is not aligned completely with the readership, Meade... If only we had a few intellectually competent leftists who...wait, maybe that is a self-defeating proposition.
Comedy is best when not intended.

Yes, CNN, WaPo et al earned 4 pinocchios for reporting a mischaracterization... fabrication by an anonymous source, then later silently adjusted the published page without reporting the change.

C'mon Doc... When has gadfly EVER been concerned with truth? For observing trolls... that is known as a rhetorical question. Google is your friend.
Inga,
What's your spin on this?
We need laws that stop bigoted and unlawful discrimination based on political affiliation.
exhelodrvr1: "Inga, What's your spin on this?"
I am still rather surprised that Inga, the self-declared Mindreader Extraordinaire didnt just read the minds of everyone on the Trump call to divine what was actually said.
And because she didnt, gadfly has been made to look like an even bigger buffoon than normal...which is sayin' something.
It's interesting that that Georgia Sec State discarded the audio file of that call without any effort to preserve it or release a transcript, which would have shown the truth. It was found in the trash folder by someone else.
"Pretty soon, you'll have to be vaccinated to vote. I'm counting on that being proposed."
This would actually hurt the Dems.

SUPERSPREADER EVENT.
"gadfly has been made to look like an even bigger buffoon than normal”
I never read his posts anymore, what’s the point? He isn’t even the “poor man’s Chuck” he is so steeped in the Kool Aide that he can’t even reason anymore.
It's interesting that that Georgia Sec State discarded the audio file of that call without any effort to preserve it or release a transcript, which would have shown the truth. It was found in the trash folder by someone else.
I don't find *that* surprising.
I do find it surprising that Trump wasn't routinely recording every call by way before that point.
How many times will it take for Inga to begin to distrust the dishonest crap she is being fed? Or do you think even now, with the recording discovered that people had tried to destroy, that she still believes the lie? If the WaPo, New York Times, MSNBC and CNN don’t report that it’s been found to be a lie, then it can’t be true, right?
I do find it surprising that Trump wasn't routinely recording every call by way before that point.
Trump made a lot of mistakes last year. They resembled his mistakes the first year. He trusted people who were absolutely untrustworthy. Tillerson, McMasters, Congress, all of them, Priebus and a hundred others. He knew about the possibility of fraud and talked about it but did not do enough. Maybe he, again, had no allies to help. The black vote counters in the key states could not be trusted but the Republicans just did not seem to be alert enough. Again, this was a historic election, similar to 1876 but worse. Unless the Democrats succeed in destroying the country, the history of this time will be interesting.
I'm still reading about the origins of WWI and learning things. I wonder if this story will ever be written ?
I think that the Davos, Democrat mega donor class used the old Shogun philosophy to steal, err, I mean fortify this election. “Win first, fight later.” The set up rules so that recounts are meaningless, audits are meaningless, clearly unmatched signatures still counted as “matches” per the rules the Georgia SoS agreed to, without having the legal authority, BTW. It didn’t help Trump that there was a concerted and highly effective campaign to deny him legal representation in the battles leading up to the election, where the election was lost by opening the door to massive vote rigging. You can’t even call it “fraud” because they set up the rules to allow it.
" vote counters in the key states could not be trusted “
Postal workers either. In some swing states, as many as 50% of Republican mail in votes got “lost” and never counted, according to surveys that were done.
"And I have never had anyone say to me: "I just want 11780 votes" but there exists irrefutable proof that former president Trump asked the Georgia Secretary of States to alter the state vote count."
No there doesn't. Why do you persist in thinking we're just as dumb as you are?
Good for Kessler. At least he called Muttering Joe out on it. Even Kessler knows that Biden was playing to the lowest-information voters. I acknowledge good effort by a Postie.
Now...about that "fine people" hoax, and "injecting bleach" story...

"Irrefutable proof"? Eh...nah. Dude, Trump's gone. Let it go. The sad thing is he lost to a (politically-incorrect trigger warning) drooling vegetable who spent more time in the basement than a box of Amway soap, campaigned to honking cars, and thinks we should all wear masks forever.
I don't know, if some Dem or Lib wants to stand me drinks to vote Left, I'd certainly accept, and vote Right, how would they know? Of course, this would only work at a polling place, not with mail-in or absentee ballots.
Tim in Vermont: anyone can call their elections office to find out if their vote was recorded and whether it was by mail or in person. Surgery’s here turned up nothing. We have not found a single case of someone’s mail-in vote going missing. I’m not saying there wasn’t fraud in Georgia. I’m saying nobody has any evidence that Republicans’ votes were not delivered by the postal service.
Tina, how many Democrat and Republican mail in votes were NOT sent in by the original addressee? There is no way to tell, and THAT is the problem with universal mail in votes. There is no auditable trail showing a chain of custody that proves that only the addressee was voting, not bundlers or vote buyers. Fix that problem.
