That is one smart dog. He knows who the assholes are.

This is an old story right? Here's my opinion: You can't blame a dog for acting like a dog. Many dogs instinctively protect their "family". You can keep your dog from hurting another person by making a lot of effort to identify danger situations, and avoiding them. For example, I lock my dog on the screen porch when I have workers (plumbers, electricians, etc) into the house. I know that my dog want to protect me and my house from "strangers". I can forestall this in the case of friends and family by inviting the people into the house (doorways are a danger point for my dog) and then introducing the dog to them where he can see that I have welcomed them as friends. This took me some time to figure out; therefore I don't blame the Bidens for not knowing this right off the bat.

iowan2 म्हणाले...

Simple rule. Dogs that you cant trust get put down.

Mike of Snoqualmie म्हणाले...

What @h said. It's up to the staff/family to control the dog in an unfamiliar situation. When our dog is in her carseat, she'll barks at anyone that's near the car, even me if it's the wife's car she's in.

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

"This is an old story right?"

NO!

I will add something to the post to make that clear.

Yancey Ward म्हणाले...

Really, if the dog can't be trusted around strangers, you either never allow them to interact with strangers, like Michael K above, or you put them down.

Readering म्हणाले...

Sounds like this time it was a groundskeeper on the lawn. Sounds like there are too many strangers at Major's owners' place of business for him to be permitted to spend time there.

Owen म्हणाले...

h @ 6:47: good advice, that. The presumption with dogs is that they are very territorial/protective. And averting literal crunch points it helps to think from a dog POV and start from what they *can’t know*. To you that stranger is your long-lost friend. But to your dog that stranger is...a stranger.

Readering म्हणाले...

It's an old story that big dogs bite people.

Yancey Ward म्हणाले...

Though, I do feel sorry for Major- having President Joe Shitforbrains trying to sniff and hump you all day long can cause issues.

rhhardin म्हणाले...

The dog should do foreign policy.

Readering म्हणाले...

I feel sorry for you YW. You knew it was not funny but you hit send anyway.

Stay away from Major, readering. He has it in for you guys.

Sebastian म्हणाले...

Major may cause minor injury but major's master causes major injury.

Yancey Ward म्हणाले...

I sent it, Readering, because it annoys people like you. That you don't understand that tell me a lot about you.

gilbar म्हणाले...

serious question

How many times, can YOUR dog bite someone; before they put it down?

Yancey Ward म्हणाले...

In short, I am done, fully done, with civility when it comes to politicians on the left and their sniveling cretin supporters like you. Done. I will mock them relentlessly and anyone who who gets upset about about it.

Yancey Ward म्हणाले...

If you don't want to read me mocking President Shitforbrains and Vice President Knob Polisher, then skip my comments if you can.

doorways are a danger point for my dog

interesting!
i went to visit friends last Saturday; and when i came up to the dog; their dog made it Clear, that he was NOT going to let me in their house.
My friend pulled her dog over to its cage; and penned him in
Then, came back to the door, and let me in
THEN we went over by the cage, and she let him out
*** I was VERY Concerned! ***

BUT! when her dog came out of its cage; it was All Sweetness and Light: Tail wagging goodness

That dog was NOT going to let me in through the door; but since his mistress had let me in...
i was Aokay!

Michael K म्हणाले...

Basset hounds are very mellow but my last basset got very territorial with our house. She was the first basset (of 6 ) that acted this way. She was a rescue and, while I never board dogs, she would not allow our dog sitter in the house. She dug a hole in the back yard and contracted Valley Fever which is endemic in the soil of AZ and CA. She died last December of the fever. Our new rescue, Nick, seems typically mellow.

Thistlerose म्हणाले...

Interesting that she stated the dog was a member of the family so would not be hurt but didn't think the worker that was bitten was important enough for her to know his name or where he worked. Interesting priorities.

Readering म्हणाले...

YW I have said many times, it could all be dogs on the internet. Bark away.

Clyde म्हणाले...

Sounds like someone needs to be sent to military school.

Readering म्हणाले...

That place closed down.

MikeD म्हणाले...

I'd venture these two photo op shepherds have never been socialized. Restricted to Biden's million dollar estate, everything outside those environs is "scary". Dogs most likely bite out of fear, especially if their handler is startled/fearful. I'd also bet one or both have had some "guard dog" training without the presence of Xiden or his "Dr."?

Temujin म्हणाले...

He needs to be put down. No, not the dog.

Dan from Madison म्हणाले...

Time to take Jill's dog back to Delaware and leave him there, and I assume Jill should stay with him. This madness is totally stupid and cruel.

Skeptical Voter म्हणाले...

He's learning from his master. Biden is a biting SOB--a truly nasty man--so why not have a truly nasty dog?

DavidUW म्हणाले...

Shoot him.

He's a danger to others.

The dog can probably be rehabilitated.

rehajm म्हणाले...

In many places, with one dog bite the dog gets a rap sheet. Two and their out.

...responsible owners take responsibility for protecting others when a bite occurs.

PM म्हणाले...

Joe ought to make sure Major meets Xi.

h म्हणाले...

To commenters gilbar and others. One might imagine a dog baring his teeth and being aggressive at the door, but my (shepherd type) dog is protective in a different way, when a person "enters the space" and "doesn't belong" my dog quietly and without warning comes up behind the person and bites his ankle or leg. But (DavidUW or are you making this point in a way I don't understand?) don't shoot him -- this is an issue of training the owners, not punishing the dogs.

MadTownGuy म्हणाले...

Dog bites man. Unless the groundskeeper was a woman (or identifies as one), in which case, man, ain't that news!

Yancey Ward म्हणाले...

"Time to take Jill's dog back to Delaware and leave him there, and I assume Jill should stay with him. This madness is totally stupid and cruel."

Sure, this is a solution I could live with, but then what do we do with Major who would still be in the White House?

Michael K म्हणाले...

..responsible owners take responsibility for protecting others when a bite occurs.

Joe is responsible? The dog sounds smarter to me.

Yancey Ward म्हणाले...

Major is smarter.

Joe Smith म्हणाले...

Hope he didn't bite a black guy.

That would be...awkward.

Bob Boyd म्हणाले...

Slippery Psaki failed to promise Major won't be euthanized. She promised that major is a member of the family.

AZ Bob म्हणाले...

"Psaki said Major was 'surprised by an unfamiliar person.'"

Probably a Republican.

Joe Smith म्हणाले...

Joe heard one of his staff calling Jill a bitch.

He got excited and thought he was getting another dog.

iowan2 म्हणाले...

- this is an issue of training the owners, not punishing the dogs.

Dog training is always to train the owners. And yes, early training often produces a dog that does not bite. But once the dog does go after a person, they have gone back to their instincts.

Bob Boyd म्हणाले...

As President Joe can pardon the dog.

Bob Boyd म्हणाले...

Mike of Snoqualmie म्हणाले...

Psaki tried to bullshit the press and used weasel words. Of course, she is a weasel, but that doesn't excuse her explanation. The explanation is like has been discussed here: Major did not recognize the gardener, or whoever, and the whoever did not do what's SOP when meeting a strange dog: crouch, extend your hand and let the dog sniff. The dog's handler did not adequately control Major, either. If the handler had, there would have been no incident and no story for Psaki to bullshit about.

GingerBeer म्हणाले...

Too much stimulus, too many strangers, broken routines, and new, larger territory. Do right by Major, and take him home where he is comfortable and feels secure. Jill can take Amtrak.

Bob Boyd म्हणाले...

He's a man eater. No one is safe.

Assistant Village Idiot म्हणाले...

Such hard-hitting questions! I am so proud of American journalism!

"Biden's dog bites again."

Just shoot the fucker.

(the dog, that is)

madAsHell म्हणाले...

The dog is a reflection of the dysfunction in the Biden household.

Mark म्हणाले...

If Joe was competent, as someone the dog(s) trust (and presumably look to as top dog, if properly raised), he would have personally walked the dog(s) around the grounds and personally had them meet every person that the dog(s) might encounter.

madAsHell म्हणाले...

He's learning from his master. Biden is a biting SOB--a truly nasty man--so why not have a truly nasty dog?

His wife can't be much better.

Francisco D म्हणाले...

Major is the fall guy, I mean dog.

It's Joe Biden who is biting people in the ass.

अनामित म्हणाले...

Unarmed Ashli Babbitt killed by badly trained police officer.

She's white, nothing to see here, moving on.

Dog bites person.

News at 11!

paminwi म्हणाले...

Jonathan Turley wrote today that each dog gets one free bite.
“ ...this could be a matter for the Federal Tort Claims Act as a personal injury occurring on federal property. Fortunately, Major is not considered a government official entitled to immunity for discretionary functions, including occasional “nipping” noted by the press secretary.”

The dog needs to go!

veni vidi vici म्हणाले...

Joe and Doktor Jill are so dumb.

The dog acts out and bites someone, demonstrating that it can't hang in the White House environment. Dog is sent "back to Delaware to the family compound" or whatever.

Mere few weeks later, Dumb bunny Joe brings the dog back to the White House, where the only thing the public sees is the dog being walked by some staffer - not even Joe himself - suggesting this club-footed team of administration PR superstars can't even manage the optics of "the presidential dog" correctly.

But we knew that much from watching Biden's gal pal Tony Blinken getting his ass handed to him like clockwork since the beginning of his tenure as the "kinder, gentler" American foreign policy huckster. The entire group of Bidenites comes off like a bunch of amateur dweebs in genpop at a maximum security state prison, except far less boneable.

Mr. Forward म्हणाले...

Saw a picture of Biden patting Major on the head. We all do it but in dog world that's dominance behavior. Scratch a dog on the side of his neck and notice the difference.

Quaestor म्हणाले...

Dogs often mirror the personality of their owners. It's not so much that they adopt the owner's personality, it's that certain personality types are drawn to certain breeds. Very insecure and cowardly men are often drawn to breeds with a reputation for aggression.

Walking around in public with a loud and intimidating German Sheppard Dog perfectly conforms to Resident Biden's fundamental nastiness. Two of them even more so. What a shithead.

Quaestor म्हणाले...

Some popular names for German Sheppard Dogs:

1) Major (The Resident's pooch is at least the third so-named GSD I've encountered)
2) Rommel
3) Patton
4) Lupé
5) Panzer
6) Soldier
7) Sarge
8) Remington

See a pattern? I do.

BUMBLE BEE म्हणाले...

Fello I knew raised Dobermans. He said that even a nip was an alert. He could not, in good conscience, release a biting dog to the world. Out behind the garage with a .22.

boatbuilder म्हणाले...

Psaki should have said that she has a sense of impending doom about Major’s future.

No problem.

Butkus51 म्हणाले...

He's pandering by raising fighting dogs.

Sam L. म्हणाले...

Biden's dog Major needs to be broken to pup private.

Aggie म्हणाले...

Did the dog bite a person of color? Wouldn't that be the lead, if it was a Trump dog? And isn't it all about race and racism now, anyway? On the other hand, just think of the opportunity to claim 'justice' if the victim is white.

Aggie म्हणाले...

@Sam L.: Or maybe, pup-no-privates.

Dr Weevil म्हणाले...

Major doesn't just bite. Journalist Amber Athey tweeted this an hour or so ago:

"One of Biden's dogs pooped on the floor of the White House this morning, per WH print pool"

To which David Burge aka Iowahawk, replied:

"yes, that's it, it was 'one of the dogs'"

Link here if you want to see their pictures and all.

Dr Weevil म्हणाले...

In one of the replies to the Iowahawk tweet, Joe Gabriel Simonson says:

"I'm not kidding when I say if trump had a dog that was biting people, CNN would be interviewing several psychologists on how there are no bad dogs, just bad owners. The New York Times would run a story with quotes by the humane society"
