"I write to you today regarding the so-called Disciplinary Committee hearing aimed at revoking my union membership. Who cares!"

"While I’m not familiar with your work, I’m very proud of my work on movies such as Home Alone 2, Zoolander and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps; and television shows including The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Saturday Night Live, and of course, one of the most successful shows in television history, The Apprentice—to name just a few! I've also greatly helped the cable news television business (said to be a dying platform with not much time left until I got involved in politics), and created thousands of jobs at networks such as MSDNC and Fake News CNN, among many others. Which brings me to your blatant attempt at free media attention to distract from your dismal record as a union. Your organization has done little for its members, and nothing for me—besides collecting dues and promoting dangerous un-American policies and ideas—as evident by your massive unemployment rates and lawsuits from celebrated actors, who even recorded a video asking, ‘Why isn’t the union fighting for me?' These, however, are policy failures. Your disciplinary failures are even more egregious. I no longer wish to be associated with your union. As such, this letter is to inform you of my immediate resigning from SAG-AFTRA. You have done nothing for me."

That's Donald Trump's wonderfully caustic letter to the Screen Actors Guild, reported at Fox News

It's so refreshing to get a new blast of Trump rhetoric. Therefore, I hope he says yes to the letter from the House Managers, reported at CNN: "Two days ago, you filed an Answer in which you denied many factual allegations set forth in the article of impeachment. You have thus attempted to put critical facts at issue notwithstanding the clear and overwhelming evidence of your constitutional offense. In light of your disputing these factual allegations, I write to invite you to provide testimony under oath, either before or during the Senate impeachment trial, concerning your conduct on January 6, 2021."

Swalwell: Will you just admit you're guilty of this fake high crime and misdemeanor we took all of 3.7 seconds to charge you with?

Trump: Hey Eric, old buddy, did you know I have a son named Eric? Anyway, how's Fang Fang? Say, since she's Chinese, did you ask Hunter for sex advice? Aren't you glad you could sleep with the enemy and yet be a prosecuting attorney?

Leahy: The witness will admit what he did.

Trump: Hey aren't you the guy from Bernieland who previously voted to convict me and who voted to keep this trial moving forward? Don't you know it's a Big Lie to be prejudicial and claim to be impartial?

That WaPo lie counter is total BS. I searched the database for "vaccine", and most of his so-called lies aren't even lies. For example, this was counted as a lie: "More than one million Americans have already received the China Virus Vaccine, a record pace!”

Factually true, but counted as a lie because they didn't meet the target of 100 million doses.

His claims that the vaccines would end the pandemic were counted as several lies, because WaPo says the vaccines won't end the pandemic quickly.

Absolute propaganda for people who don't want to look at the details of the database.

THE TERM MAY ALSO APPLY TO A COURT HELD BY A LEGITIMATE JUDICIAL AUTHORITY WHICH INTENTIONALLY DISREGARDS THE COURT'S LEGAL OR ETHICAL OBLIGATIONS.[3]"

[Emphasis added.]

'...The term kangaroo court is often erroneously believed to have its origin from the courts of Australia's penal colonies.[5] The Oxford English Dictionary cites the first published instance of the term as from an American source, A Stray Yankee in Texas by Philip Paxton, published in 1853.[6] There are, however, earlier instances of the term including an 1841 article in The Daily Picayune in New Orleans that quotes another publication, the Concordia Intelligencer, reporting several lynchings instituted "on charges of the Kangaroo court". The Picayune article also asks "What is a Kangaroo court, neighbor?"[7] Some sources suggest that it may have been popularized during the California Gold Rush of 1849 to which many thousands of Australians flocked. In consequence of the Australian miners' presence, it may have come about as a description of the hastily carried-out proceedings used to deal with the issue of claim jumping miners.[5]...'

John Roberts declined to judge the trial. The Constitution mandates the Chief Justice presides. Without the Chief Justice, the trial can't proceed, and the current clown circus has no authority.

Article I, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution stipulates that the Chief Justice shall preside over the Senate trial of an impeached president of the United States.

We can thank the Chief Justice for making it crystal clear that Donald Trump is no longer the president of the United States.

My guess is someone other than Trump drafted the statement, or at least edited it after the fact. It’s too measured—saying THE APPRENTICE was “one of” the most successful tv shows ever? Trump would have claimed ”the” most successful! Also...”egregious?” Too fancy a word for Trump. Not not that I think he doesn’t know the word, but it doesn’t sound like the vocabulary he uses, at least not publicly, where his statements are public performances for the edification of his base.

I wish Trump would testify and just ask, "At this point, what difference does it make?" Over and over again.

The President of SAG is Gabriella Carteris who was Andrea Zuckeran on the original 90210. A 26 year old high school student. How fitting.

Zuckerman. Spell check sucks.

President Trumps downfall was the result of not being a DC denizen, and had no DC experienced advisors who could carry his message. The "unpresidential" stuff, was because the normal procedure of underlings floating trial balloons did not exist. The President had to do it himself.

President Trump did his own wet work. The same amount of wet work happened. Tt just fell to the Executive to get it done.

Democrat voters have proven, time and time again, that they're entirely too fucking stupid to understand who is responsible for costing them their jobs and their toys.

When the standup business hit an iceberg in '93, we loaded up the truck and bugged out of L.A. and headed back to the Delaware Valley. As we had been appearing on some television shows in the previous two years or so, we were, of course, forced to join AFTRA (now known as "AFTRA-SAG").

The business was tanking, but, upon moving back east, we still were able to nail down two more appearances on union television shows (on VH-1 and on A&E, if I recall).

The producers sent our checks to Philly AFTRA! And, when we asked for our checks, they told us they were going to use them to pay our dues for Philly AFTRA! (Which was a higher figure than L.A.'s dues!).

We told them that, since the business was rapidly disintegratin, we'll probably never do another TV shot, so we really have no need to be members of Philly AFTRA (or any AFTRA, for that matter).

The receptionist reluctanly handed over the checks.

I have not re-joined. (I think they "Taft-Hartley-ed" me on my Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson appearance because it had been so long. And I lived in Vegas by that time. So I didn't have to join AFTRA this time.)

AFTRA never did anything for me that I couldn't have done for myself. I'm not a joiner. And, back in the early 80s, the dimbulbs in the comedy biz were agitating for an "Association," by which we could band together to fight for higher pay, obtain health insurance, etc. They eventually exhorted members to avail themselves of the opportunity to get insurance under an umbrella group that catered to independent artists. I called them up and asked them, "Do I have to be a member of the Professonal Comedians' Association to get this insurance," they said, "No." I relayed this to a colleague (who was running for president of the PCA) and he said (and I quote, exactly): "Well, we'll see about that!" The only other time I tried to get the PCA to actually go to bat for me (as I was cancelle with less than 60 days, in spite of a CONTRACT!) I was told that there was nothing the PCA could do because... wait for it... the club owner was an "Associate Member" of the PCA, so their hands were tied. A club owner was a member of the comedians' union? Sounds like a fox being an "Associate Member" of the chickens' union.

I cheered the letter.

Socrates deserved his sentence. It was, essentially, his punishment for supporting the 30 tyrants.

Something our "educated" class should think about. Of course, that would require that they be capable of thinking

I seem to recall Trump mentioning being a fan of The Fountainhead somewhere along the way. I wonder if he imagines himself giving his own version of the novel's courtroom speech.
