Honestly no. (I laughed too...but people are already using it to bash CNN. This “some people know it’s a joke but lots of other people don’t” kind of fakery has consequences. OK carry on.) https://t.co/m9o1HcIeaq pic.twitter.com/uhk5uhHpi0

A fantastic example of the problem of humor that some people are going to take for truth.

When it’s too much like the truth to be reliably recognized as humor...

CNN is the joke, pal. Your so-called news network keeps referring to 1-6 as an insurrection and coup attempt.
The joke is that CNN offers corrections.
Ok, I missed it.
Thats about as poor an excuse for humor as Sydney Powell is a poor excuse for a lawyer.

Your observation makes me wonder if CNN didn’t arrange this—mistakes by critics are often used to distract from real criticisms.
"Some people are going to use it to bash CNN.”
That would be terrible. Won't someone please think of the 24 hour news networks? So savage.
This one is even funnier....CNN sucks. "CORRECTION: A previous version of this story misstated that Rep. Ted Lieu grabbed a crowbar before leaving his office. He grabbed a ProBar energy bar," the updated CNN story said.
Some people are going to use it to bash CNN.
The rest of us use real examples of their incompetent, biased reporting to bash CNN.
I did laugh when I saw this last night and assumed it was fake news... but I’ll give a pass to anyone who fell for it because CNN sacrificed their credibility for advocacy, to a ridiculous degree.
.
My Mom always says: there’s a little bit of truth in everything u say. That’s s why I never joke around about hurtful things- otherwise, it’s a veiled truth. To my mind- if not enough is hidden- it’s just said to be mean, not funny. Aren’t they slamming Cruz twice- supporter of conspiracy and lack of snack self- control?
Not that it’s my business...
Honestly, I was trying to figure out what I was supposed to figure out with this. CNN is so disreputable at this point, any report out of them is read with the knowledge that its most assuredly half-true at best and written or spoken in keeping with their agenda. So jokes about or coming from CNN are barely discernable from actual articles coming from CNN.
And perhaps that's the joke. But to me, having Tommy Vietor, a noted political hack, being the first to be lead into this, is the humorous part. Vietor is to CNN as a fly is to s***.
In reality, CNN would never have posted a correction.
CNN could redeem itself and save its ratings by doing a 180 and becoming the network of the right. Get Tucker away from FOX [he doesn't belong there, anyway] and they've already got a good start.
This real cnn correction is almost as goofy:
CORRECTION: A previous version of this story misstated that Rep. Ted Lieu grabbed a crowbar before leaving his office. He grabbed a ProBar energy bar.
I missed it, because the original joke is a bash at CNN, but others think it is funny because they think Cruz is a slob. The Dorito chip is a reminder of the press excitement when President Bush choked on one. I still have no idea what QAnon is.
There is no way Brian Stelter would not have immediately recognized a snack food.
That's some world-class trolling.

But he was at put at a disadvantage since Doritos are corn based, had it been a potato based snack ol' Tater would have been right on it!
CNN literally made a "crow bar" for "pro bar" snack food mistake this week, inventing violence and conspiracy where there was only a snack, so maybe not such a perfect example. Maybe more an example of the debased state of our media and its reporting, and a demonstration that they are so bad, they may be beyond parody.
CROWBAR FOR PRO BAR IS FUNNIER. And it wasn't a hoax.
Ted Lieu running around with a crowbar is a hilarious image. Correcting it to an image of Ted Lieu clutching a ProBar is also funny, although more sensible, since he was JAG.
But if you haven't got a bug-out bag, but you do have a Pro Bar handy, it's not the dumbest thing to grab when you bug out. Especially if you're OMADing.
Can we get a For Fuck's Sake tag going = FFS?

Correction: JAG-OFF
Tubby Stelter favors rouge to color his chubby cheeks and piehole.
Saintly...
Like CNN would correct that story.
If Ted Lieu hadn't been properly energized by the snack bar, terrible things could have happened that day.
If he had only taken the trouble to properly hydrate as well, we wouldn't be talking about any capitol riot at all.
Now if the mainstream media would get around to correcting the hoax that Trump supporters were planning to kidnap and murder Congress members, the Russian collusion hoax, the Trump is a racist hoax, all Trump supporters are white supremacists.... oh yeah, except none of those were intended as jokes.
It's a beautiful day today where I am, how about you?
It’s fun to pretend not to know, or actually not to know what CNN story was being spoofed here so that you can get more outrage milage by venting about how stupid the thing looks because “somebody might believe it.” In Althouse’s defense, she didn’t know about it because she only reads carefully curated media where any story that tends to discredit the POV of wealthy blue America is edited out, so how could she know what the whole story was when she composted this blog post. No harm, no foul though, because only Trump supporters noticed, and we don’t count.
"Now if the mainstream media would get around to correcting the hoax that Trump supporters were planning to kidnap and murder Congress members”
It’s all part of their propaganda barrage, they are also using the military as part of this, by pretending that the capitol is under a military siege and the National Guard is providing the backdrop for their propaganda visuals, and its all Trump’s fault and he needs to rot in prison, if not be hanged, and Trump supporters need to be sent to camps.
Remember how they screamed bloody murder if they could come up with the most remotely plausible accusation that Trump was using the military for campaign purposes.
Democrats are going to ram through and domestic spying law focused on the “right wing” authored by Adam Schiff under the motto of “Look what you made me do!”
They can really pour on the hate. Two minutes? That would be nice if it were only two minutes...
"“Many also appeared to sympathize with the notion of Lieu grabbing a crowbar to take on rioters – with white supremacists and neo-Nazis among their ranks – attacking the heart of America’s democracy.” - Yahoo
Get swept up in the hate Democrats, what you are feeling is the pleasure of the dark side of The Force, part of it is your imagining that what you are feeling is righteous indignation. It’s designed that way, it’s like a designer drug. It makes you feel superior. All bigots feel superior, Archie Bunker felt superior to Lamont, and Democrat bigots are getting drunk on feeling superior to Trump supporters.
"Some people are going to use it to bash CNN.”
CNN is part of the Democrat media establishment and therefor may not be parodied!
Imagine the CNN another MSM headlines if Lieu or Cruz had grabbed a 24oz can of Twisted Tea before leaving their offices.
tim in vermont,
That's pretty much how I read this. People are jumping on folks who "believed" the fake CNN story, not realizing (or not acknowledging) that it was based on an actual CNN correction just prior, one nearly as goofy. Really, would you expect your Rep. to have a crowbar in his office? And Lieu is, IIRC, from the SF Bay Area, which makes that even more farcical; Bay Area reps, even at worst, don't go swinging crowbars. But ProBars is obvious sense.
Gospace, Twisted Tea? The spiked, vaguely tea-based beverage? Oh, twist ties. Bravo, Sir/Madam!
It wasn’t real parody because the New York Times wasn’t in on it. I am sure that CNN knew what it was about, and didn’t want to admit it.
CNN... teh Most Busted Name in Newzzzzzzzzzz
