I saw a TV commercial tonight that started with a drone’s-eye view of picturesque American countryside - woods, a winding road, a small village. Then the sponsor’s name came into view superimposed over the American landscape: BANANA REPUBLIC

I thought to myself, “Yeah - that’s for sure”.

I like America. Got two $19.42 pizzas (each) because of a radio special for $20 with tip for both, tip was 24%. Great special, but stingy on the cheese.

The crust though, maybe the "dough" as they market they literally "kneed" is baked so perfectly toward my style of heavy crunch and light mid-even texture of partially cooked yeast/flour combo with extra cheese and a fat wallet can make it work.

I would hate to compete with Papa Murphy's Tuesday special. That consumes a lot of pizza budgets for $20 or $30 a month and is in fact actually days and days and days worth of pizza if you order the stuffed. I think they are about 5800 calories depending on the specifics.

I have no love for Chicago, but the Chicago style Papa Murphy's special on Tuesday any za for $10, is tough tough tough to compete against.

Guildofcannonballs म्हणाले...

I love the Costco kitchen. Fabulous prices. And the $9.99 pizza is great for the price. But they never cook it right, I concluded after taking home two pies.

Now, Fort Collins, there was a place there, Coopersmiths?, or something, basement pool hall type place.

They had the pepperoni that will for all-time define great pepperoni. Puts everything else to shame. It's why I never order it, but of course will partake in order not to be rude.

Wow, they had an alfredo-sauce type thing with their amazing pep and cooked wood-fired and awesome. Thank you Fort Collins for that memory.

I'm convinced that the Biden administration will be a shitshow. He's going to be kept in hiding while various factions fight for control. Meanwhile, Trump's fight will keep his base motivated and angry, hopefully turning out to keep GA in the GOP column, as well as putting the House into GOP hands.

I don't think Trump is going to go away, as much as the establishment Right wants him to do so. His four years exposed the whole lot as grifters, incompetents, and idiot cargo-cultists who have no idea about actual governance. A lot of younger conservatives are going to be looking to Trump as the model for how to win going forward, as well as what dangers to look out for.

How to win?!?. He’s the most phenomenal loser of their lifetimes. The worst political malpracticioner in a century. That’s the model? The incumbent President who completely blew it and who got wiped out in the 2020 general election? The guy who won the biggest upset in US Political history, the guy who got a mid-east peace deal that no one else managed to accomplish, the guy who promised that we'd have a vaccine by the end of the year and everyone laughed at, the guy who oversaw four years of economic growth that the political class said was impossible. The guy whose party gained seats in an election that was predicted to be a bloodbath for his party. The guy who managed to draw tens of thousands of supporters wherever he went, who brought in working class whites and latinos and reshaped the party. That guy.

But he lost an election so he's a "loser". So did Churchill, and he came back just a few years later.

So no way appeal in PA going to USSC. In motion to expedite appeal to 3rd Cir. Then plaintiffs moved to amend again to put back dropped claims. District judge said, no--too late in this kind of rush case. Standard of review abuse of discretion. No way 3rd circuit says abuse here. If I am right, no way the Supreme Court says this is an issue for them. Not a constitutional issue and no split in the circuits. If I am wrong, case just goes back to district court, where still no standing and no whiff of fraud (reason dropped in first place).

Mark Levin spent a good part of his program tonight explaining exactly why it IS a constitutional issue, citing Article I, Section 4:

"The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators."

Judges, Secretaries of State or state election officials (he argues) do not have legislative power , nor are they capable of being given so by the Legislature to amend election law.

Do not conflate mailing address with physical address. By Law the voter registration must include a physical address, and these rented PO Boxes were disguised as the residential addresses, not mailing addresses, on the voter registration applications.
What do I mean? Thousands of ballots listed as PO Boxes but they insert a "Suite" "Apt," "Unit," to give the appearance of a physical address as required by law.
Also rental boxes at UPS, & FedEx locations, and even private mailbox stores disguising the box numbers same way

There are no Conservatives anymore. A Conservative is someone that looks to an idealized past for answers on how to build the future.

We are going to a time and a place where we will not find answers in the past. We will find suggestions. But we must come up with the new.

The Republican Party is a Nationalist party now that looks after the American People and particularly the working class. Trump showed the way but he is not going to take us there.

It's been said before, but I'll say it again. The Dems really screwed the pooch in their dealings with Trump. Trump was a Dem that ran as a Rep, and willing to make deals with all sides. The Dems could have had some policy wins if they had been willing to work with Trump, but they went full nuclear in every way they could against a man who wouldn't take it.

I don't know what the result of this election or the controversy of it will be, but one thing is for sure. If Biden is the POTUS, Trump is not going away, he will be out there every day undermining the Biden administration and sowing discord with his half of this country. And if Dems try to ring him or his family up in retribution, you are going to see the owners of 350 million gun have a say about it. It might not be the best path for this country, but after witnessing for the last 5 years what Dems, the media, and big tech are willing to do to seize power, I fully endorse it.

The solo is most likely what is termed “local counsel”. We did that a lot in the patent world. That is because you need someone in that state, and probably that city, to file papers for you. You need someone admitted to practice before that court to sign pleadings, motions, etc, to stand up in court, and to sponsor you if you are attempting admission Pro hac vice.

As for the US Supreme Court, you are citing normal rules of thumb for the grant of Cert (which means that the Court has agreed to hear the case). They don’t apply here. The Court hears what it wants to hear. All it needs is four votes out of nine, which in this case are likely Justices Alito, Thomas, Gorsuch, and Barrett. They pick up Kavenaugh (good Catholic, nominated by Trump, and savaged by the Dems in his confirmation hearing a couple years ago), and they have the win, which pulls in CJ Roberts and possibly Breyer, who joined the majority in Bush v Gore. Same Constitutional issues as in that case: Equal Protection under the 14th Amdt and that only legislature can modify voting laws and rules, in accordance with Article II, § 1 ¶ 2. I think that they get Roberts’ vote anyway, since the dignity of the Court is at issue here, since the local officials told Justice Alito, sitting by designation over the 3rd Circuit, that they would sequester the late arriving ballots, and apparently didn’t. That would have bypassed the lower court judge’s decision to not balance the equities in not counting valid ballots in order to not count invalid ballots in the same batch. Thus, the dignity of the Court is at stake here, since not hearing the case would essentially allow state election officials to have lied to the Supreme Court w/o consequences. Remember, in Bush V Gore, it was the FL Supreme Court that tried to thwart the US Supreme Ct, which tried a remand first. It was only when the FL court ignored their remand instructions, that the US Supreme Court slapped them down, enforcing their preeminence, granted by the Supremacy Clause (Article VI ¶ 2).

Readering म्हणाले...

One does not get admitted pro hac vice to a circuit court. One gets admitted. But you are probably right that Trump could not find anyone else who was already admitted. Maybe Giuliani is applying, but the third circuit will not let him apply orally like the district judge did.

You cannot file for certiorari on an issue that was not the issue for your appeal to the lower court. You could try to bypass the court of appeals but that is not what Trump is doing with the PA case.

Mr Wibble म्हणाले...

I suspect that part of the problem is that there is so much corruption and incompetence regarding elections that it's hard to tell where mismanagement ends and fraud begins. It wouldn't surprise me if Dominion cut corners and hired substandard programmers to build their systems, relying on bribes and other underhanded methods to secure contracts. To an outsider, it could certainly look like a deliberate attempt to manipulate the election.

As for Trump, it's been obvious for the past four years that he thrives on chaos. I've long thought that he enjoys it because it gives him freedom to do what he wants, and in chaos people tend to reveal who they really are. While that can be a good thing most of the time, we're seeing where it can rear up and bite him in the ass. Also, the GOP establishment bears a lot of the blame for this mess; they've had decades to clean up these issues and too often they've refused to fight. They allowed the little problems to grow and become big problems. Candidates, the state and national parties, and the GOP dominated legislatures have all failed on this issue.
