According to Alaska’s Katmai National Park and Preserve, describing the fattest brown bear, the winner of "Fat Bear Week," The Guardian reports.

Well, it is 2020 after all, and we've seen how that has gone so far.
My previous residence had three pear trees in front. Squirrels bulked up on the pears, daily getting fatter and slower, until they stopped even looking up when my dog and I came out the front door.
So probably not a vegan bear?
On that note, did you know that 'vegetarian' is an ancient Native American word that means 'bad hunter?'
In other news, authorities are at a lost to explain what happened to the two photographers who disappeared while photographing Fat Bear Week at Katmai.

I like Trump. Heck, I may even love the guy. I voted for him 2016, enthusiastically. I'll vote for him in November, even more enthusiastically. But I have this sinking feeling that he's going to lose.

Mrs Squid and I have spent much of the last three months just motoring around the western half of the country, for the sole purpose seeing states we have never been too (I have now hit all 50, she has only Kansas and Alaska remaining). Everywhere we have gone, Minnesota, Dakotas, Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, we see nothing but Trump flags, yard signs, MAGA hats. Everywhere. I think he’s going to win. Not just because of what I’ve seen, but because I can’t believe the people of America would ignore the success that Trump has accomplished in office in favor of demented dolt like Joe Biden and a grotesque harpy like Kamala Harris.

I thought it was an excerpt from a biography of Michael Moore.
I went to Katmai 25 years ago and had a very close encounter with a big mama grizzly while fishing on the Brooks River (which is only about a mile long but is full of salmon and grizzlies). She didn’t kill and eat me I think because her cub was being a pain in the ass And she got distracted, and/or because I’m pretty scrawny so not worth it. I have been telling that tale ever since. Works because it is true and I was both scared shitless and awestruck at the same time. And I lived to tell about it.
You have to invite me to dinner or at least buy me a drink to hear the whole story.
The bear probably doesn't get good TV or radio reception up there, so he hasn't heard about all the ways you can lose weight fast and easy. There are so many ways, but without a credit card he's not getting those secrets. Being a bear kinda sucks, especially with the shitting in the woods requirement.
I just related this post with my girlfriend, and she has a way of asking the one question about any subject that I don't know the answer to - every damned time.
This time: "What wakes up the bears after hibernation?"
I suggested that they have a very slow-burning candle stuck up their ass. She was satisfied with that, bless her heart.

I am overweight for a human. Perhaps I should try hibernating for six months.
If only there was some reason, any reason, right now to stay at home all the time, quit working, avoid all other people and lose weight because you can't buy food. Would that be great, or what?
Sorry Roughcoat, I can't make the opposite case. It's not that I believe what the polls show (big upside support for Biden), but that there is significant support at all for Biden given his very public and well know history, and very obvious cognitive decline. That tells me a great many people dislike Trump very much and will vote against him. The only hope is that the Trump haters stay home.
