Sunrise, 5:39.

IMG_5302

The "actual" sunrise time was 5:35. How much earlier can the sunrise get? 18 minutes earlier. That's not so different, is it? I've made it this far. When I began my running for the sunrise (on September 9th), it was a 5:57 CDT sunrise. Each day since April 26th has been my earliest sunrise in this running ritual. I'll max out on June 10, with the 5:17 sunrise, and that will continue through June 19th, after which we will will begin to emerge from the challenge of what to do with more than 15 hours of light in one day.

And, by the way, that was a Type #4 sunrise.

A creamsicle sunrise. Lots of orange in the sunrise photos recently.

For me the additional daylight is most noticeable at night. Which doesn't make much sense because in the dead of winter the sunrise around here is after 7am and I'm up at 5am year round. In any case, I don't really do much differently with the increased daylight hours.

The numerical system is helpful. Also reassuring, like it improves the chances they'll be another one tomorrow...

I think they may be rolling that ad out too early, since Biden is not yet officially the Democrat candidate. It's a kill shot. No decent person could vote for Biden after watching that video. He'll still get all the hardcore Democrat voters, of course, but most independents would be more repulsed by Biden at that point than they might be by Trump.

You could simply get some additional sack time from, say, 7:00 AM until 8:30 AM or so, and your daylight problem will be solved!

Early in this isolation period, my family introduced a pre-bed activity--turn off all the lights and read Grimm's Fairy Tales or Hans Christian Anderson by candlelight. The problem is, it's now getting dark too late to do it properly.

To each his own. I love morning because it's my time with no demands or interruptions. I cherish that more than bed. It's the one time of day the clock doesn't exist. YMMV

I just saw Franklin Foer from the Atlantic on MSNBC. They already got their story for November and it's the Russians! 2016 was just a dry run!

Biden will win of course, but the Russians could hack the Wisconsin Secy of State's voter database! And! And! convince Trumpsters that the election was crooked!

Oh the things that could happen, all the things!

Someone just posted in my university moms group that the University of California system is going to be online only for the fall semester. And LA shut down through August.

What the fuck is California doing, guys?

Could Tara Reade be a false flag operation? What if we get to October and she says it was all a lie paid for by Republicans?

I'm wondering about the "time" designated as "sunrise" in Madison. Is there one time for sunrise in all of the Central time zone, or does the time of sunrise vary according to the exact longitude of the location within the Central time zone?

Apollonia : Will you help me?

The Kid : No.

Apollonia : Pardon me?

The Kid : Nope... Wanna know why?

Apollonia : Nope.

The Kid : Because you wouldn't pass the initiation.

Apollonia : What initiation?

The Kid : Well, for starters, you have to purify yourself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka.

Apollonia : What?

The Kid : You have to purify yourself in Lake Minnetonka.

[She strips down, and runs towards the lake]

The Kid : Hey! Wait a minute! That's...

[She jumps in. She gets out shivering]

The Kid : Uh, hold it...

Apollonia : What?

The Kid : That ain't Lake Minnetonka.

Columbus OH is on the western side of the Eastern Time Zone, Boston MA is on the eastern side. When the sunrise is ~7am in Boston it is around 8am in Columbus. Sunrise is a physical event, and varies by locale.
