"So this is it, the final chapter..."

"We love Europe, we just hate the European Union. It's as simple as that.... I'm hoping this begins the end of this project. It's a bad project. It isn't just undemocratic, it's anti-democratic, and it puts in that front row, it gives people power without accountability.... There is a historic battle going on now across the West, in Europe, America, and elsewhere. It is globalism vs. populism. And you may loathe populism, but I tell you a funny thing: it's becoming very popular."

The globalists are losing power everywhere.

They are going to try to start a war soon.

China's communists are in desperate straights at the moment too.

I sense a common need...

Wince म्हणाले...

You're not walking out of this one, mister! You're finished! No more EU! You've bought it this time, buster! I'm calling your national office! I'm going to revoke your charter! And if you wise guys try one more thing, one more, I'm going to kick you out of Europe!

NO MORE FUN OF ANY KIND!!

Temujin म्हणाले...

It was a stirring speech. And capped off by the ridiculous cutting off of the mic- so common a move among the left. "We don't like what they're saying. Cut them off."

Things are changing.

Amichel म्हणाले...

A wonderful contrast between the humor of Farage, and the dourness of the EU Vice president.

Bay Area Guy म्हणाले...

I love Brexit! Don't let your country be run by European bureaucrats in Brussels or Davos!

Lucid-Ideas म्हणाले...

That speech is going to go down in history. It will be played 50 years from now after the EU is dead as a doornail. Pieces of it will be copied by other leaders who speak of their nation's departure - and this is just the beginning - from the union.

Kevin म्हणाले...

It was only fitting they cut off his speech because he violated one of their stupid rules.

Once it's clear the UK didn't sink into the Atlantic, there will be more to follow.

I was wondering how Brexit played out in British law schools. I am thinking especially of constitutional law. Did they have to write new textbooks? Did they just put out new editions of the ones from the sixties?

Also, what happens to British human rights cases pending before the EU?

Achilles म्हणाले...

You would think the EU would refrain from putting someone who so obviously resembles Dolores Umbridge in this meme.

Mairead McGuiness and Dolores Umbridge are so much alike you can't even call it a meme. It is creepy.

"It's understandable to care at least as much about other barriers that would be broken by other candidates, including Klobuchar as the first woman. Most of the presidential firsts that could happen in the future (as far as gender, race, religion, etc.) can't happen in this one election. But if the first openly gay president isn't Buttigieg, it might not be anyone else for a very long time. When I see him and his husband, Chasten Buttigieg, I wonder how much longer we'd have to wait for another opportunity like this."

Yes let's elect the gay dude because it would be awesome. And spectacular. What I fucking idiot.

Freeman Hunt म्हणाले...

Such an excellent speech, and then, as if orchestrated, there is the end where someone was gracious enough to perfectly illustrate the overweening pride in bureaucracy at the EU.

If you wrote it that way in a script, it would be one of those broad movies everyone else has seen. A populist-type movie. Perfect.

Freeman Hunt म्हणाले...

Oh, and the hate part at the end! It really includes everything. The full clip with all its courses is absolutely delicious.

But they mean to RULE them all. Without even a ring to "In the Darkness Bind Them."

It will feel very much like hate.

Oh! He used the word "hate." What a beast he is. The H word. It will soon be a felony to utter that word. But we can still say "garner."

RK म्हणाले...

"We should not hate, anyone, any nation or any people," she says.

And most especially not a governing entity, which is what he was referring to. I bet EUians are big on hate speech laws.

Rory म्हणाले...

"We should not hate, anyone, any nation or any people,"

It's not hate, it's contempt. Hatred can be worn down, but a contemptuous person requires someone to be superior to.

As a tourist I like the EU. It's great to not have to stop and show your passport at every border. It's great to not have to change your money every time you go to a different country. But if I had to live there, I'd be resentful of a bunch of people in Brussels telling me what I can and cannot do. Farage is right about this, but I doubt the bureaucrats are listening.

Of course they're not listening. Why should they? Any and all of Buwaya's frequent comments about power struggle and its corruptions in the USA apply equally to the EU.

That blonde woman is infected too much with her own sense of royalty ("WE are not amused!") She may as well be Lewis Carroll's Red Queen ("Off with their heads!").

I often wonder why people in Europe are not more grateful than they are that they get to live in Europe, where many of them live in the same country where their ancestors have lived since almost the Ice Age. So many of them seem to have no awareness of how lucky they are to be able to live in the same country where their ancestors have lived since almost the Ice Age.

My ancestors would have liked to continue to live in England but were chased out by fellow Englishmen of the cowardly raging mob sort who would have killed my ancestors - based on religious or political hatred - if my ancestors had not fled from their cowardly mob viciousness. The descendants of the cowardly people who would have killed my ancestors are still there, but they do not seem all that happy, even though they live on one of the most beautiful islands in the world. Look at poor Prince Andrew who could have had such a good life and instead is what he is, or look at any of the rest of them - "Ozzy Osbourne", for example, who could have been a decent regular guy and instead is going to go down in history as a bat torturer.

Oh well we all live in a world created by God which is more important, in the great scheme of things, than any details about where exactly we were born and lived our lives.

bagoh20 म्हणाले...

Wow! She really responded as foolishly as possible. She was like an overacting actress playing a pompous bureaucrat being a stereotypical asshole. Well done. I could almost see her saying:

"If you don't eat yer meat, you can't have any pudding
How can you have any pudding if you don't eat yer meat?"
"You, yes, you behind the bike sheds, stand still, laddy"

exiledonmainstreet, green-eyed devil म्हणाले...

Like Elizabeth Warren, this EU woman reminds me of the grim Boston Irish nuns of my early childhood. I almost expected her to rap Farage's knuckles with a ruler.

I have great admiration for Nigel Farage.

Jesus, Mary, and St. Joseph. And she's Irish no less. The only humorless Irishwoman that has ever cursed God's green earth. The EU must be Satan's creature indeed if it can so suck the joy out of an Irishwoman.

And an Englishman! He's funny and the Irish are dour. The End Times are surely upon us.

Great speech. This guy has done wonderful things for the UK.

The lady who cut them off did a wonderful job of proving their point.

Now, let’s do a great trade deal with the UK to allow for workers to easily work in each country and a free flow of goods and services. Europe is being consumed.

Or by the unelected and unaccountable bureaucracy in Washington, DC. They're the real US government. The 537 elected politicians are the Hollywood (or, as demonstrated recently, the clown circus) government. Politicians come and go but the bureaucracy remains and continues to grow. They write regulations with the force of law. They have their own law enforcement groups, often heavily armed. Some of the bureaucracies even have their own court systems. They are a government on their own, elected by no one and accountable to no one.

Trump was elected on the promise of "Drain the swamp". This is the first real attempt to counter the bureaucracy in my 62 year lifetime. For that, they've pulled out all of the stops and have attempted nothing short of a coup attempt to destroy Trump. If Trump gets reelected and Republicans regain control of both side of Congress, their highest priority should be massive civil service reform. It needs to be easier to eliminate the deadwood and those who violate the civil rights of the citizenry.

Exactly this. I am incredulous that someone - and it’s not just the chairwoman - has such a lack of awareness.
