December 27
December 28
December 29
December 30

January 1

January 5

In the last two weeks, he's been at his golf club every day except Christmas Day and on January 3 when he went to Miami to do a speech for "those fucking evangelicals." Golf is confirmed for three of those days. Almost every one of the listed days, Trump is at his club for four hours or more.

MountainMan म्हणाले...

Well, if Trump was playing golf all those days he sure got a lot done. I guess some people commenting on here don't play golf. I used to play. A lot of serious business can take place on a golf course if you are playing with the right people. And it's surprisingly private. He also has a phone, so it's not like he is out of touch. It's also on his own course. I had no idea there was a website tracking his golf outings. That is really pathetic. Obama played a lot, too. But Trump is playing on his on course and, also unlike Obama, I understand he can really play. And it keeps him in shape. My former physician once told me, when I was still playing, that her healthiest male patients were all golfers.

I notice on the golf tracking site they don't show cost of Obama outings from GAO >>> why is that?

I don't know. That would be a question for the website.

But there are three very large and obvious things. First is the fact that none of the federal spending (costs for Secret Service facilities, etc.) flowed back to Obama. Obama didn't own any of the golf courses where he played. Obama wasn't essentially billing the Secret Service and other staff for food, lodging, drink, golf carts, etc. To the tune of millions.

Second is the fact that Obama played less golf than Trump. A lot less golf. That might not be important -- I am unaware of any numerical limit on rounds of Presidential golf -- but for item #3.

And so #3 is the fact that Trump went crazy when Obama was president, talking about how much golf Obama played, and how as president he (Trump) would never leave the White House "because [he'd] be working [his] ass off, making great deals..."

traditionalguy म्हणाले...

I'm glad he's doing that self care.

Qwinn म्हणाले...

I hear Pelosi wants a bill on the War Powers Act to restrict Trump's use of military force. Finally. One of my reasons for voting for Trump was that if he was such a threat to the US; then Congress might curtail the powers of the President whenever they grabbed their pen and phone. Up until now, the UniParty opted for Impeachment rather than rolling back regulatory authority they gave to the White House. I guess once they learned Impeachment is an unpopular tool; they are deciding to use routine Congressional power.

Here's another one for our pro-Soleimani LLR-lefty Chuck:

By Jim McElhatton - The Washington Times - Wednesday, May 14, 2014

"Landlord Joe Biden: Secret Service signs new deal on rental property"

"Landlord Joe Biden will keep collecting rent checks from the agency that protects his life thanks to another contract extension that allows Secret Service agents to continue staying in a cottage on his Delaware property.

The latest extension, signed on May 6, boosts the overall value of the contract to more than $100,000 since the agency first started paying Mr. Biden a few years ago.

The arrangement, first reported by The Washington Times, puts Mr. Biden in the unusual position of being both a sitting vice president and a vendor for the federal government at the same time."

I keep wondering how Pelosi thinks she is going to thread her needle. Is she going to restrict the US DoD and State from spending funds in the Arabian Gulf area? After all, there was intel that the Iraqi militia commander recently involved in attacking the US embassy was planning another attack. That commander was killed along side the Iranian on Iraqi soil. So let's substitute, what if the Embassy in Tripoli was attacked? Should the President not respond militarily to protect US personnel in the region without first informing Congress? I know it is what Hillary and Obama would do, but if members of the State Department knew this was now law; then would they take the assignments in those areas?

Trump does that frequently. He claims that a monolithic "media" gets something wrong in covering him. But he rarely specifies what it is he is talking about.

So the Trump golf tracker website got it right. On December 31, Trump went to his golf club for 49 minutes. They reported his entry and exit times.

Politico also reported on Trump's activities for the day;

https://www.politico.com/news/2019/12/31/trump-does-new-years-eve-his-way-091753

And Politico reported that "Trump eschewed golf for the day."

The New York Times reported that Trump had visited his club -- which was true -- but did not report that Trump had played golf.

I did find one wierd place called "PoliticsUSA.com" which got it wrong, and falsely reported that Trump played golf on the 31st.

DailyKos correctly reported that Trump did not play golf on the 31st, although he had gone to his golf club for 45 minutes-plus. What Kos reported further is that it appeared that while Trump had intended to play golf, a consult with aides convinced him to go back to Mar-A-Lago while the Baghdad embassy was under threat from militia/protesters. Because Trump was not only acutely aware of the Benghazi embassy history, and had complained about Obama's handling of it. In any event, they did not incorrectly report that Trump played golf.

Finally, RedState.com collected a bunch of random Tweets in which the authors made presumptions that Trump was golfing while the Baghdad embassy was under attack. They were all jumping to conclusions after it had been accurately reported mid-morning that Trump had arrived at his golf club. They presumed that if Trump was at his golf club, he'd be playing golf. But RedState didn't expose any mainstream media reports that got it wrong. Only a bunch of Twitter users whom I had never heard of before.

Again, I want to emphasize that the Trump golf tracker website had Trump's arrival and departure time at Trump National West Palm Beach exactly right.

So here's a couple of questions for HoaxPPT: is there a current candidate that you are supporting? (You were a Bernie guy last time and history proved you correct)

Correct?

I'm definitely not down with the corrupt, duopolistic, elite, nothing-to-offer establishment Dems, but the sad truth is that no one can pull them to the left and progressivism better than Trump. I'll obviously prefer to vote for any one of them due to Trump's petulance at getting the legally correct thing down pat and understanding the limits of flying by the seat of his pants - as well as putting country over planet, etc. etc. etc., but I have to give him credit for doing more for the working man than anyone else since Reagan and everyone after Reagan outsourced him.

So who can at least offer something better, to me?

I guess I'd have to say Yang. Or Tulsi Gabbard. The two that are ironically most palatable, it seems, to the right. Bernie's too old and sounds no less than a broken record than ever. And I don't like the way Warren's having to lie about funding universal access. I'm also opposed to single-payer as a mandate, but tolerate them touting it as a rallying point.

I'd defend Biden's character over Trump's, but realize he's not a leader. He's only a VP because he was the old, familiar white guy who vouched for and made Obama seem less "exotic."

The rest are basically a big yawn - including and especially the kid mayor from Indiana. The NYT had a big push for Klobuchar today and apparently the Iowans like her. But I figure if anyone's going to repeat a McGovern/Mondale-style wipe-out it would have to be another Minnesotan like her.

Will the dems squeeze Bernie out of it this time like they did in 2016? (taking into account the delegate allocation and convention voting rule changes)

I think it's going to get harder and harder for them to do that this time.

Props to Trump. He's not only got the advantages and momentum of incumbency and the economy, but more working-class creds than any of the rest. I have no idea who would beat him. I just think I like Yang and Gabbard best, but know neither one would get it. The best that can be hoped for is Warren or someone else getting the office and having them in there in an advisory or cabinet-level position with some influence.

Drago म्हणाले...

"I guess I'd have to say Yang. Or Tulsi Gabbard. The two that are ironically most palatable, it seems, to the right."

I dont believe its ironic at all. I dont for a moment believe either one is a conservative in any way, but they are not insane, they are clear and coherent, they have interesting ideas that dont fit the Washington mold, etc.

I believe we are in a window where there just may be a significant political realignment coming into focus with both party's establishment working to cut that movement off at the knees.

I still cant believe they thought they could shove Hillary vs Jeb down our throats when a Trump vs Bernie race was clearly where the country was.
