"Wife Guy/Find him on: Instagram/With: A grid full of pictures of his wife."

"At some point, men realized that outwardly showing love to their wives is subversive and that they could score points by doing it. A wife guy is always posting online about how much he supports his wife even if others don’t. He thinks his wife is beautiful even though she doesn’t have the body of a supermodel. He doesn’t deserve credit for doing the bare minimum, but if you offer, he’ll gladly take it."

From "The Characters Who Dominated the Internet in 2019" by Brian Feldman (in NY Magazine). A nice set of characters... with excellent illustrations of each.

There's an internal link to "A Brief Guide to Wife Guys" (a NY Magazine article from last May). Excerpt:
In case you’re not familiar with the concept, Wife Guys are the men who make themselves famous for things their wives did, or qualities their wives have or had. “The wife is legitimizing for a male web celebrity, and particularly advantageous for a guy in the nerd-o-sphere, in the way a mid-century businessman benefited from the aura of stable matrimony.... In crasser terms, the Online Wife is a measure of the husband’s influence.”...
Over there, you'll find, among other characters, the harrowing phenomenon known as Cliff Wife Guy:

The internet has provided an extension to cable TV such that there's a channel for everyone. And, much like most of the cable channels, there's not much that I'm interested in. Too many self-promoters.
Merry Christmas to the MeadeHouse!

Solid November 7, 2016 advice.

I miss the time when people tended to keep things to themselves. or to share with a few close friends. social media is like Ulysses, if Satan wrote it, instead of Joyce.

Things that become a thing.

Another example of how society is being retarded to a point of imbecility.

Temujin म्हणाले...

Man...if there was ever an argument that social media has destroyed western civilization and turned men into a semi-man, semi-boy, semi-woman creature, this is it.

"Uxorious" is a good word, but is there an equivalent for a Husband Gal or Guy?

bagoh20 म्हणाले...

People often imagine it would be great to be young again, but know what you know now, but the great advantage of youth is not knowing what you don't know. It really is liberating. You can imagine all kinds of things are possible without any cynicism.

Better than the most amazing day ever is a high standard... every single day. It sounds very stressful and burdensome. I can imagine thinking to myself: "I just want a day that sucks for a change." and then worrying that I may never get it.

bagoh20 म्हणाले...

Not at all "falling off a cliff". It was tumbling down an embankment, and a minor one at that. Pretty common incident for anyone active and athletic like skateboarders, skiers, rollerbladers, ambitious hikers, and drunks.

Husband Guy = "buttiguig" ??

No reason not to be supportive of one's wife. You DID make promises before God and witnesses to do so.

We've been married 36 years and my proudest title is "Barbara's Husband".

That was a pretty good article. It explained what a "Stan" is (a stalker fan), and I could identify with the "Too-Online Boomer":

Nearly half of American adults receive news via their Facebook News Feed, and it has warped their sense of reality — and older adults, researchers at NYU and Princeton found, share the most fake news.

I think that's because they are getting their news about what used to be called "news" (and probably not from Facebook), while what younger people are getting is more about fashion, lifestyle, celebrities, merchandise, etc.

But that is something a "Too-Online Boomer" would say, isn't it?

Birches म्हणाले...

I can't really believe these people have the amount of followers they say they have. How that many people take an interest in such ridiculous people... they've got to be paying Chinese people to engage with their accounts. But their advertisers don't know that. So they continue on with the grift.

Iman म्हणाले...

“Why are there no husband gals?”

Great question. They’ve probably got better things to do with their time... nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more!

This is negging, right? What a hostile thing to say.

Imagine having to look at that juvenile hairball and think, "that's my husband."

Lurker21 म्हणाले...

Some sources say there is no female equivalent of "uxorious." Others that the word is "maritorious," not to be confused with "meritorious." I guess there are still women like that, women who are extremely fond of their husbands to the point of obsession, but it seems like it's frowned upon in our era, too much political blowback.

ALP म्हणाले...

Ugh. I follow lots of artists on IG. The dudes that start posting too much crap about their wives/girlfriends get unfollowed. The women that post too many 'cheesecake' photos in their underwear get unfollowed.

Outside of your creative output I only care about your dog, cat or other animal pet. Foxes as pets seem to be a thing.

"Some sources say there is no female equivalent of 'uxorious'"

Of course there isn't, just like there is no male equivalent of 'slut'. Some things in the real world really are complementary, not symmetrical--or sometimes just entirely missing, as in the fact that there is a molecule CO2 but not aty C2O.
