I'm checking out for the night. We just watched a movie on TV, "The Sandpiper." That was some rich dreck.

will Trump 'cruise to victory'?

While with my family of Bleeding Heart, card carrying Liberals; they were united in:
A) being DISGUSTED with the idea of self identified 'women' being able to use women's locker rooms
B) Thinking (and SAYING) that 'all this craziness' had gone 'TOO FAR'!!

C) BLAMING Donald Trump for "the extra letters on the LGB stuff

So, do i think Trump will 'cruise to victory'?

If you see money you had at one point in time but no longer go somewhere specific would you consider it money "lost" and if so why? Does "lost money" mean something different than there were, for example, gold coins placed underground at a forgotten juncture and therefore because of that context it was considered "lost" money?

Guildofcannonballs म्हणाले...

Anyone, like Althouse, or not, think that guy from the NYT that Trump "ridiculed" or "mocked" or "belitteled" or "whatever" oops, not that last one, believe Trump hurt him by treating him as a man worthy of being mocked (even though Trump never imitated or belittled or mocked)?

That was his high light.

Trump does that. It is tough stuff to make or break a company that can deliver, or can't, based on your whatever.

It's tough all around. New York.

Outline.com can frequently get you behind a paywall. For example, WaPo's:

Rachel Maddow rooted for the Steele dossier to be true. Then it fell apart.
DECEMBER 26, 2019

By Erik Wemple
Media critic
Dec. 26, 2019 at 11:43 a.m. EST
Fifth in a series on the media’s handling of the Steele dossier. See Parts 1, 2, 3 and 4.

https://outline.com/KAfLgp

1 = ‘The story stands’: McClatchy won’t back off its Michael Cohen-Prague reporting

2 = Horowitz report confirms John Solomon’s scoop on FBI ‘spreadsheet’ regarding Steele dossier

3 = ‘Disinformation’ claim ‘galls’ dossier author Christopher Steele

4 = CNN lands an interview with its own contributor

"...So we’re not arguing here that CNN’s anchors are going easy on McCabe because he’s a colleague — just that the underlying arrangement is offensive, awkward and corrupting."

Unfortunately, Outline.com only provides the article, with no mention of the links.

Or the 4000+ mostly disappointed comments. Like:

'Wemple is usually a decent writer, but he suffers from the "both sides" syndrome and fly-specking that afflicts Glenn Kessler. This article is one of his weakest entries in months.

But do give him a chance, he's no where near the unadulterated, joyous bootlicking of Thiessen and Hewitt.'

Serious question: Does anyone here actually know a single person who celebrates Kwanzaa? My impression is that it's a fake holiday, but because of "diversity" during the holiday season we are obligated to pay lip service to it. The only people who seem to mention it regularly are journalists, celebrities, teachers/school administrators, and politicians. (I.e. the Democratic Party coalition.) But does anyone actually celebrate it?

Hilarious correction by NY Times. The "Memorial Service" at which 13 people were shot in Chicago was "for the carjacker who was shot and killed and not for the victim of the carjacking." The carjacker tried to take a car from a guy with a CCW and a gun. The NY Times (not the Chicago papers) could not imagine a crime victim fighting back and shooting the asshole trying to rob him. Imagine how hard it is to get a CCW permit in Chicago without being a politician.

Our so-called Republican governor has communicated to the Feds that MA is willing to participate in the refugees resettlement program. The Democrat Mayor of Springfield has communicated a spirited no thank you. Sarno, the mayor, has long held that Springfield does more than its fair share when it comes to providing a new home to refugees, that refugee resettlement will concentrate poverty and place an unfair burden on the school system.

People are strange, especially political people here it seems.

The Sandpiper. Those amazing beach scenes. The VIPs minus fur coats so whatever it was they were draping over Elizabeth Taylor's bikini to cover the whisky bloat. Butterfield 8 a decade after. Then Under Milkwood. Taming of the Shrew proving Shakespeare belongs to blowsy commoners. Leonard Nimoy embracing his second career as a beatnik bard celebrating obese women's sexuality, and William Shatner's bongo-inflected long form poetry.

And then there's Boom. We really have forgotten the best parts of the Librium Purple Heart Wild Turkey generation. Pot is for dummies.

Chuck म्हणाले...

With at least one public opinion poll showing support for Trump’s impeachment and removal approaching 55%, does that make the Magic Number 5 (percentage points) to get to 60%, or is it 11 to get to 66%?

Public approval for the impeachment and removal of Nixon was at 57% the week that he resigned.

https://althouse.blogspot.com/2019/12/in-wake-of-combative-impeachment.html?m=1

It would now seem clear that “impeachment and removal” polls better than Trump’s own personal approval at any time in his presidency.
