Am I not taller than he is richer?!

De Blasio is steamed. He's "decr[ying]," "castigat[ing]," and "excoriat[ing]" all things Bloomberg. According to Politico.

Or maybe he's not steamed, and it's all theater:
People close to the mayor say de Blasio’s crusade against the Bloomberg presidential campaign is in fact rooted in strategy. It presents an opportunity to reassert why New Yorkers elected him in the first place, to recapture some bit of that 2013 energy that swept him into office.

But the obvious scorn in de Blasio’s skewering of his predecessor, and the contempt in his jeremiad, some former advisers concede, threatens to outweigh whatever strategic value it might otherwise have.

“It just looks like he’s complaining,” said one former adviser, who sought anonymity to be able to speak freely.

De Blasio is married to a black lesbian feminist, right? Thought that would carry him further.

Wait, is it De Blasio, or De Niro? Hard to keep track

Energy? Christine Quinn was too screechy, Bill Thompson too sleepy and conceded without even a runoff. Since nobody famous like Giuliani or Bloomberg stepped up to claim the GOP nomination, the GOP ran Joe Lohta who made deBlasio seem charismatic. I can't even remember the GOP lady who ran against him the second time. I don't think there's ever been less energy around a mayoral campaign in my lifetime than deBlasio's two campaigns.

I don't particularly care for Bloomberg. He strikes me as a progressive busybody with a desire to control people, to nanny them. But compared to de Blasio, Bloomberg seems relatively sane and reasonable. It's like comparing a mild cold to the bubonic plague.

Mayor Warren has really cute kids, whose faces he plastered all over Brooklyn when he ran for City Council, and all over the right neighborhoods when he ran for city-wide office. That's the nicest thing I can say about him.

Hmm...well given that Bloomberg is about 30,000x richer than de Blasio, I'd have to say "no." And also Bloomberg doesn't have a high-T, ex-lesbian angry black female wife to please.

Meanwhile, they won't have Kamala Harris to kick around any more. She's dropping out today.

NYC politicians really are meant for local consumption only. NYC is its own world & what sells there as politics doesn't for the rest of the country. Hell, I doubt it even sells in New York state.

The exceptions, in this case, prove the rule. Hillary was a Carpetbagger in reverse, a midwestern girl gone South, and then up NE. Trump was not a politician, but was rather a real estate magnate & TV star. But, other NYC mayors, they've bombed, too. Lindsay, back in the 60s. Giuliani more recently. As will Bloomberg, who just strikes me as lacking that "Would I want to have a beer with this guy?" mien so vital to success in American politics.

If De Blasio were any more delusional he could run as a Massachusetts politician.

He sounds like the football player complaining about the lack of respect in his contract because he garnered more first downs than the guy that scored twice as many touchdowns.

...or the politician that claims victory because they won the popular vote.

There are about 1,000 adult males in the U.S. 7'0" or taller. DeBlasio is 6'5"

Bloomberg is the 9th wealthiest person in the U.S.

Not even close

It is an incredible long shot, but deBlasio ought to think twice before declaring war on the next President of the United States.

If you set out to kill the king, you better succeed.

Danno म्हणाले...

DeBlasio will reverse any progress that prior mayors (Giuliani/Bloomberg) achieved and turn NYC into a shithole that will make San Francisco look good. The progs will get what they voted for and deserve.

William म्हणाले...

I wonder what DeBlasio's next move is. He's too ungainly to be a CNN news commentator. Schumer's got a lock on the Senate, but maybe he can primary Gillibrand. He's so much more charismatic than her. Or back to the City Council. He'd be a towering figure in the City Council and that might serve as a springboard to his next Presidential run.

Has reversed.

They don’t care.

Scorn and contempt: the prog MO in relation to anything non-prog.

If Bloomberg had any sense, he'd claim the scorn proudly, becoming the true "moderate" the Althouses of America might fall for.

De Blasio vs. Bloomberg. As someone of exactly median Heigth, i can look down on the shorties, and view the Giraffes withe equal contempt.

Bloomberg - has Napoleonic Complex
De Blasio (Like Comey) - has De Gaulle Disease.

De Gaulle disease afflicts men over 6-4. They believe their skill at dunking a BB and the swooning women, translates into leadership ability and great intelligence. Nope, you're just grotesquely tall.

Ha. You know I had originally written the phrase "straight out of central casting" but then took it out. Later I couldn't shake a feeling of familiarity, so after Googling a couple of combinations I discovered that I had inadvertently lifted it from something John Derbyshire had wrote. In a column from November 2014, Derbyshire had written:

"What is interesting—downright sitcom-level entertaining, in fact—are the psychodynamics of the de Blasio marriage.

Mrs. de Blasio—although of course she uses her maiden name (or whatever the PC term for that is) Chirlane McCray—is a thin-skinned high-T angry black woman from Central Casting, stuffed up to the nose-holes with resentment and entitlement."

p.s. I don't drink beer. Gin, please. Never drink anything you can't see through.

Weiner pulled out (nice set-up for a joke right there).

Kelsey Grammar didn't get in. That could have been fun.

Bo Dietl ran, and got all of 1%.
