Porizkova was the one who found her estranged rocker husband’s body in September, while bringing him coffee as he recovered from a recent surgery in his Gramercy Park townhouse. The pair, who had two sons together, called it quits in May 2018 after 28 years of marriage....
Ocasek, in his will, appears to have also stiffed two of his six sons — though not the children he had with Porizkova.

"I have made no provision for my wife Paulina Porizkova... as we are in the process of divorcing. Even if I should die before our divorce is final... Paulina is not entitled to any elective share... because she has abandoned me."
Said Ric Ocasek in his will, reported at Page Six.

that'll teach her! something
His money...his will. Paulina was a model and a photographer...I'm sure she can take care of herself.
Let the good times roll.
On the other hand he left more to other people. It's not like he took it with him.
As the attorney hints, there are likely many more assets to be distributed, through the instruments of trusts. If you can at all afford it, the trust is an essential estate planning tool to protect your privacy. Otherwise, off to probate your relatives go, and the records are open for all to see.
Two-thirds of divorces of couples after decades of marriage are initiated by the wife. I'm sure Ocasic is not the only husband to feel abandoned and lied to. This is kind of an extreme way to get around the community property division, however.
“I touched his cheek to rouse him. It was then I realized that during the night he had peacefully passed on.”
Uh-huh. Maybe she didn't know the details of the will.
The wife is still entitled to her elective share; at least in Nebraska.
Hopefully it's not what it sounds like. Possibly a cautious divorce attorney adding grounds language to the will. She'll be okay economically. I'm here for her if she's not...
Huh. All these years, I had thought theirs had been one of the surprise successes of the 80's rocker/supermodel marriages.
There are other wealth transfer vehicles- insurance, trusts that wouldn't necessarily be reflected in the language of a will...
The only musicians whose lives I can bring myself to care about are women country singers.
It's an orangy sky
Always it's some other guy
It's just a broken lullaby
Bye bye love
Bye bye love
He sounds nice.
I'm not a New York lawyer, but I'm not sure you can disinherit your wife in that state. I think the elective share is mandatory until the divorce is final.
When I die, put my money in the grave
I really gotta put a couple niggas in they place
Really just lapped every nigga in the race
I really might tat "Realest Nigga" on my face

I clicked on the link but immediately got distracted by the story about Kate Middleton wearing Princess Diana's sapphire earrings.
I suppose this matters because of celebrity. Living in rural Iowa, this is another Friday. Spouse cut of wills, where most of the assets are farm ground. Sometimes this even jump generations, intentionally excluding spouses or future spouses and step children.
Dude - you're lucky you got her at all. WTF?
what a jerk.
Ocasek, in his will, appears to have also stiffed two of his six sons...
Stiffs gonna stiff...
In Iowa she would have at least been entitled to 40 acres and a mule.
I think that's the minimum. Not sure about the rifle.

So maybe she did know the details of the will and helped him along. Or maybe I've just seen too many Forensic Files episodes. ;-)
Okay Boomer.

huh? 40 acres and a mule is a southern thing
I'm not sure you could turn a corn planter around in 40 acres
Slow news day. The only reason this would be of interest to the public - outside of the yearning for celebrity gossip - is if Ocasek had, as some suggest, stashed away and protected much of his assets from the grasp of the government.
All's I can do is picture Svetlana as Paula Poundstone
Yet she was with him at the end.
Depends on what his prenup said.
I like how he valued his copyrights as under the Estate Tax level. Good luck with that.
Community property vs. property owned by one spouse before marriage. Anyway, lawyers should have a field day. BTW, I have no idea who this Rocker is. And it looks like I don't have to learn anything, since he's dead.
Yeah, I've never heard of either of them either.
You might think it's crazy, the way I run you down.
Should have listened.
"Well, I guess I shouldn't have bothered with the damn coffee!"
I could've probably made it through the day without knowing this.
Not sure why it needs to be public.
"I had thought theirs had been one of the surprise successes"
28 years and two kids? Not a bad run. Certainly better than many celebrity/show biz marriages.
I haven’t heard of PP since the last time I heard anyone say *schwing!*. But *schwing!*. She was one of the great beauties of the 80s. Other than that slight toddle down erotic memory lane, who cares?
"...and no, I don't want any coffee."
I'll hold on to you
Till the stars no longer wink
I'm presuming if there were any real money involved, she would have found a way to stay married to him.
Ocasek was 75 y.o and 22 years senior to Porizkova and was in very poor health for some years (heart failure, emphysema)
Poirzkova is in her early 50s.in good health and still presumably has her (ahem) biological needs and has been in a public dating relationship with a well known movie producer
She states that even tho "separated" from Ocasek she was still living in the same abode with him.
Suspect his sense of abandonment is similar to the protagonist in the Kenny Rogers hit song "Ruby, don't take your love to town"
