"They failed on the Mueller Report, they failed on Robert Mueller’s testimony, they failed on everything else, so now the Democrats are trying to build a case that I enrich myself by being President."

"Good idea, except I will, and have always expected to, lose BILLIONS of DOLLARS.. ....for the privilege of being your President - and doing the best job that has been done in many decades. I am far beyond somebody paying for a hotel room for the evening, or filling up a gas tank at an airport I do not own. These Radical Left Democrats are CRAZY! Obama Netflix?"

Trump tweets.

Trump assumes you understand what "Obama Netflix" means, but I see in the sidebar that "Obama Netflix" is trending, and when I click on it I see lots of tweets acting like Trump's just talking crazy, putting words together randomly. There's stuff like "It’s sort of amazing that he vomits up the words 'OBAMA NETFLIX!' directly after accusing Democrats of being crazy" from Jon Favreau.

Jon Favreau, I know the name and associate it mainly with this unforgettable photograph:

How much did Obama make from his Netflix deal?
No dollar figures have been reported but, in Hollywood, Netflix is not known for a lack of generosity in pursuit of big names who might bring in fresh subscribers. Producer Shonda Rhimes (“Grey’s Anatomy”) was handed $100 million to sign up; producer Ryan Murphy (“Glee,” “American Horror Story”) took home $300 million.
Those who are mocking Trump's "crazy" 2-word question "Obama Netflix?" may regret heightening its visibility. It's going to make some of us want to know the actual dollar amount. Didn't Obama say he wanted to be "the most transparent President" ever? Ha ha. No. That was Trump.

And, by the way, isn't it true that Trump is losing lots of money by being President? He may be wrong about what he's observed about his country over the years and his notions of what ought to be done about it, but isn't he giving? Lots of people don't want what he's giving, but he is giving, I think. That's the heart-rending tragedy... if he's wrong. But he thinks he's right.

I harken back to the prof's comment that Trump is "weird."

He isn't. He's extraordinary.

Trump is remarkably like a number of extraordinary characters I've met and worked for... highly visible and incredibly famous and powerful executives and lawyers. If I named them, you'd know them. Althouse has to know at least of couple of the lawyers I've talking about.

So, Trump's hugely confident and believes that he knows best, and that others should follow his practices and advice. That's true of every one of those extraordinary characters I mentioned. They are great, successful patriarchs.

What's weird about Trump? Loving pussy and wanting to get his hands on the best and youngest legally available. Every one of the guys I worked for... exactly the same.

Out of all the incredibly successful and stupendously wealthy lawyers and executives I worked for, I only really disliked one and I was more or less neutral on another. The rest I really liked and enjoyed their company.

As is often the case when a politician’s career is over, companies and organizations pay them big bucks for services rendered. While the politician is still in office, the do it by hiring the politician’s relatives for big bucks, no work jobs, like the sweet gig Michelle Obama got from the University of Chicago. Afterwards, former politicians get not only jobs and board memberships, they get fat speaking fees and other gifts. I don’t know how much Netflix paid the Obamas but I’ve heard it was over $60 million. For that reason, I will not subscribe to their services.

None other than the Washington Post has reported that to be the case. Half the country won't go to his properties.

Trump has been our most patriotic and unselfish President since Reagan. He didn't need to be POTUS. He was a 70 y/o billionaire with a beautiful model wife and a young son. He could have done what the koch Brothers and Paul Singer did/do, stay behind the scenes and pull strings by donating money. Instead, he put himself through a grueling Campaign, and has taken more hatred and abuse, more shit, from the Democrat party, the MSM and the Establishment, then anyone in my lifetime.

And what is his "Radical" program. Let's see: Enforce immigration laws, get better trade deals, cut taxes, and get our allies to pay more for their own defense. And not get into any useless wars. OMG! What a Hate monger! What a racist! What a Nazi! HE MUST BE DESTROYED.

rcocean म्हणाले...

I'd love to hear more about the Obama Netflix deal. Also, even more then most DC pols, Obama was in the back pocket of Amazon/Google/Facebook/Apple. Is this part of the pay-off? Or is more $$$ coming down the road from Silicon valley?

Heart-rending tragedy? I wouldn't give it a second thought. The economy is going up up up and China's going down down down, so I think Trump is doing for the country what he said he would do.

Now if one is an Obama fan, one won't see it that way, but being an Obama fan is what's wrong. And Obama is the chap who's making money hand over fist as his payback for shredding the country.

I'm soooooo ready for Netlfix to go down in flames. It used to be great, and then they went on a spending spree trying to create original content, most of it garbage. Then they raised subscription rates right when they started losing licensed shows like Friends. I really feel like they're about to collapse. I wonder what happens when Disney's content finally gets pulled from Netflix (bearing in mind Disney is a lot more than just Disney).

I hope Obama's millions have hastened the collapse.

As if, lol, no hearts had been rent in the preceding decades when Davos Man was riding high and essentially unchallenged. Pshaw. Trump isn't a radical, and no policy of his is at all likely to cause more damage or have more disastrous consequences than the policies of those who came before him.

re: Obama Netflix. The WSJ reviews Higher Ground's first educational/'non-partisan' production:

The film..."never once alludes to the part Mr. Obama played in diminishing the ability of Moraine’s laid off workers to transfer to other GM plants. The president’s role wasn’t indirect and isn’t a matter of dispute: His administration’s bailout deal for GM included a backroom exclusive agreement with the United Auto Workers."

..."The Obama administration’s auto bailout highly favored the UAW and its members. The GM plant in Moraine was unionized by the IUE-CWA. So—despite being one of the top GM facilities for quality, efficiency and production in the country—it was shuttered, and its employees were put at the back of the line when requesting transfers to other GM plants. Any non-UAW employees looking to transfer were forced to start as new hires, wiping clean any wages, tenure, and benefits built up during careers at other GM plants."

“American Factory” documents the UAW’s efforts to unionize the reopened auto glass factory without any mention of the same union’s direct role in the GM plant’s closure. The Dayton community was left out in the cold—thousands of jobs lost, families devastated, longtime GM workers out on the street looking for work.

Kinda like those planes that aimed their ownselves at the WTC.

Trump isn’t losing a lot of money because he’s President. He’s losing money by saying and doing things that a great many people take offense to. For most of his career, Trump made money by leveraging his name. The market for that name isn’t as valuable.

Personally, I don’t favor ex-Presidents who receive large sums after leaving office, whether its Obama’s deals or the high paid speaking engagements by Clinton and Reagan.

The only thing worse is taking public money (or that of foreign governments and big business hoping to influence the Administration) for the use of the President’s properties or businesses.
