"A Madison School Board member’s comparison of police to Nazis and of Dane County’s juvenile jail to concentration camps is drawing the ire of local law enforcement."

"In a Facebook post Saturday highlighting the plight of youth detained at the Dane County Juvenile Detention Center, Ali Muldrow said: 'I think that (it’s) important to talk about what it is like for the students who are arrested at school and end up in the Dane County Jail. We would not talk about the role of the Nazis and act as if the experiences people had in concentration camps is a separate issue.'... Muldrow didn’t back off her comparison Monday afternoon, saying in a Facebook message to the State Journal that 'the rounding up a specific demographics of people including LGBTQ folks and folks with disabilities, than institutionalizing them in locked facilities, is being done now in a variety of ways and was also done in Nazi Germany.'... One of the reasons using Jewish people as an example is important is because no one would ever dare say the Jewish community deserved to be detained during the Holocaust.... However, when black communities are targeted for incarceration the argument is often about their actions, not the state’s.'"

There is something profoundly skewed in the emotional development of anyone who makes a claim like this. This is someone who always wants to excuse the actions of the individual - it isn't their fault! - and place the responsibility on others. Victimhood 101... I am so glad I don't go through life bkaming everyone else for my $hit sandwiches. It must be exhausting.

To a first approximation, all Jews were rounded up and put in concentration camps. According to the NAACP, there were 2.3 million African Americans in prison in 2014. There's about 37 million African Americans in the US. So only about 6% of the African American population is in prison.

If the justice system is trying to target African Americans for incarceration because they are African American, it is not doing so effectively.

Ideally this is the case. I suspect, in the real world, that there is a little of both this and targeting, human nature being what it is and all.

I am starting to get the impression that some of our "elites" do not understand how civilization works and simply assume it is the natural order of things that will persist and thrive regardless of whatever stupid ideas they champion this week. They also seem incapable of thinking other than repeating intersectionality platitudes like it is holy scripture, which is most odd since it is a secular religion with hell but no heaven.

These people are doomed. It is simply a matter if they are going to take everyone else with them.

Diversity and abortion chambers? No, but rather incarceration of individuals after commission of crimes against the community and people. Transgenders were never affected, but thrown in for the sake of social justice and to secure the empathy vote (homophobia or generally transphobia). However, that changed with the institution of transgender therapy and "woke" people that progressed indoctrination and medical corruption of adolescent and prepubescent children into transversal mental and/or physical states. So, only two straw clowns, this time.

HoodlumDoodlum म्हणाले...

Holy shit, so now any school or law enforcement personnel daring to enforce rules or the law against black or LGBTQ offenders are equivalent to Nazis.

I hope you nice centrist people are happy with what you've normalized, Professor. I know it's not really your problem--people of your sociopolitical status will probably send their kids to private schools where "problem" students are simply kept out--but the actual, real world effect of this kind of insanity is that the non-problem children in struggling public schools have to endure hell because no one in authority will punish or remove misbehaving or dangerous students.

But hey, at least when those parents finally have enough and move to different, likely less-diverse suburbs you get to have a good time sneering at their "white flight" and calling them racists!

Thanks!

'the rounding up a specific demographics of people including LGBTQ folks and folks with disabilities, than institutionalizing them in locked facilities

Her comments have many problems including that this isn't actually happening.

But consider the decision trees activists are trying to enforce. When schools use their own disciplinary system activists challenge anything which forces schools to manage conduct as criminal. This forces schools to engage the criminal justice system because it can't replicate the legal protections. Then activists argue against the only option they've left the school with as if the law doesn't matter if the crime happens at school. As a result activists have blocked all avenues for discipline. Remember they are concurrently complaining schools are racistly ineffective as if actions and consequences are unrelated.

Not so. In her book, there are 366 instances of the root word "crime." This would include the words "crime" and "anticrime," for example. There are 437 examples of "criminal." (Convert to PDF, which does the counting for you.)

If the justice system is trying to target African Americans for incarceration because they are African American, it is not doing so effectively.

They are doing better, percentage wise, than the cops that are actively hunting down black youth for being black.

Robert Marshall म्हणाले...

People complaining about a group being incarcerated "disproportionately" need to explicitly complete the thought: disproportionate to WHAT? "Disproportion" means nothing without knowing what it refers to.

If they mean disproportionately to their sanctionable conduct, that's a valid argument. But usually what they mean is "disproportionately to their share of the population." Since they are being incarcerated for their conduct, their proportion of the population is of no relevance. Argue the conduct; if they aren't violating the law, say so!

n.n म्हणाले...

But usually what they mean is "disproportionately to their share of the population."

Disproportionate to their color class. This is the article of faith, and political myth, that underlies diversity doctrine or color judgment, which grants liberal license to assess the value of human life by color (i.e. low information) attributes, not limited to race, and socially justifies progressive policies including affirmative discrimination.

wildswan म्हणाले...

Jews were imprisoned for what their grandparents were - Jewish.

Blacks are being imprisoned for being the person who committed a crime of violence against another person.

The disproportion is how many blacks are poor, not how many, being poor, commit crimes. And there is no way forward to end disproportionate poverty except a good education in a free public school. And that requires discipline in the classrooms. And the Progs are refusing to enforce classroom discipline and thus making a good education in the free public schools impossible for those who need it most, who will never be able to afford an education any other way.
