Rutger Hauer, ‘Blade Runner’ Co-Star, Dies at 75 I've seen things you people would never believe
I am reading trump haters who think Mueller killed it. Apparently get confused about collusion/conspiracy is a strength
I am reading Washington Post headlines that suggest Mueller killed it. Apparently disinformation is a strength. It worked for the Hillary campaign and their Russian colluders, so why shouldn't it work for the Post? The Bezos gang has certainly been trying it long enough.
Today's Mueller hearings represents the very first time Li'l Bobby Mueller has dealt with, in detail, the lie-filled "report" prepared by Hillary's lawyers and friends.
I thought the short speech of the new PM was pretty good. It was short (thank God) and had the right balance of conciliatory recognition to the vanquished with good British boilerplate. He would be my guy if I lived in the country.
Over at Le*gal In*sur*rec*tion, Professor Jacobson did some research into Elizabeth Warren's claim to have advocated on the behalf of women harmed by faulty silicon breast implants made by Dow Chemical. In fact, she was on the other side, hired by Dow explicitly to figure out how to limit Dow's liability. Now I agree that when a lawyer is hired, that lawyer owes it to his or her client to do their uttermost on behalf of that client. No problem there. The problem is when Warren claims to have worked on behalf of the women suing Dow -- NO! She did her legal work on behalf of the corporation and did her best to screw the women.
does make it pretty much more likely that At LEAST 34 republican senators would vote not guilty
Even the dimmest Republican knows that the only high crime or misdemeanor that the president is accused of is "being Trump."
This is and always was nothing more than an attempted coup against the lawfully elected president. Even the most hateful of the anti-Trumpers might like to shoot their mouths off, but when push came to shove, they would not actually vote to end democracy by couping the president.
"But if you look at the history of the last 200 years of this party’s existence, you will see that it is we Conservatives who have had the best insights, I think, into human nature and in the best insights in how to manage the jostling sets of instincts in the human heart. And time and again, it is to us that the people of this country have turned to get that balance right between the instincts to own your own house, your own home, to earn and spend your own money, to look after your own family.
Good instincts, proper instincts, noble instincts. And the equally noble instinct to share and to give everyone a fair chance in life."
Related to the above, outside of sex workers, strippers, and lingerie models I have never seen the reason why women would go out and get silicon implants. I am influenced by an article I read many years ago written by a woman who felt too unfeminine with her (presumably) flat chest and got implants. She vividly described the pain she felt, and how for over a week her pain so restricted her movements that the friends she was staying with while she recovered had to wipe her butt for her (now those are TRUE friends!!!). Then she's finally able to go out on her own, and she sees her reflection in a department store window, and she marvels at how much she looks and feels like a real woman.
Ah, pardon me, but back then implants normally cost women the ability to breast feed (I have no idea whether that's still the case). So fifty per cent of what a woman can do that a man can't is now out of reach for you, yet you feel more like a real woman?
@gilbar, any and all red state senators who vote to convict in the (increasingly unlikely) event of impeachment had best be planning what to do after the voters turn them out.
I've not seen the actual quotes, but if the reports are true that Mueller testified he was not familiar with Fusion GPS, he ought to be referred to the Justice Department for prosecution for perjury and/or lying to Congress.
I'm starting to really believe that some of these crooked democrats are going to prison and that includes pencil neck Sally Yates. Think about this, Bob Mueller didn't even know what Fusion GPS was. The crooked democrats attempted a coup of Trump's presidency which for those of us who know our recent history is just an evolution of the behavior of Al Gore and the other crooked democrats after the 2000 election.
'Trump blew whistle on Jeffrey Epstein'; Pedophile's threat to expose President 'as a financial fraud' after he 'stole' his $125M mansion led to then-tycoon outing the pedophile to cops
shocked while reading a lib lawyer's twitter feed-- they actually believe Trump supporters are PRO-Epstein, and are 'offering up thoughts and prayers', and that Trump and Barr are working to get him out on bail and off the hook. Comment after comment, and beyond delusional.
Has anyone heard one Trump supporter rooting for Epstein?
FBI Director Robert Mueller is unable to name who is investigating the IRS for targeting conservative groups while he was testifying before the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday
Tune in again next Wednesday as the Rout of the Democrats continues in the form of a "debate" on "who can be the most socialistic" and "who can make the most ridiculous promise." Democrats will not watch it - too painful. And I will still be savoring the this week's astonishing episode in which we found out that Robert Mueller didn't read the Mueller Report either and has no idea what he said about the President or what it means - if anything.
Mueller's Testimony Surprised me. Republican's actually did a good job. And Mueller appeared to be a figurehead, who did not know what was actually in his report.
Or was Mueller just acting like he was out of the loop?
From his actions during the Anthrax investigation and the Whitey Bulger debacle, I lean towards incompetent and arrogant.
Esteemed Harvard Law Prof, Larry Tribe, breaks away from Emoluments! liitigation to comment via Twitter on Mueller:
"Much as I hate to say it, this morning’s hearing was a disaster. Far from breathing life into his damning report, the tired Robert Mueller sucked the life out of it. The effort to save democracy and the rule of law from this lawless president has been set back, not advanced."
Stormy Daniels: ohmy God, Mr. Mueller! You are so handsome and distinguished!! I'd like to thank you personally for saving our democracy and stopping those mean Russians. Trump is such a meanie, too. Could I come up to your room and let u play with my ample boobies?
Robert Mueller: Um, that it is not in the purview of the report.
Geeze, narciso: "Federal prosecutors have explained why they don't think ex-Briarcliff Manor cop Nicholas Tartaglione was present when three men were fatally shot in an Orange County bar. He was busy transporting the body of another victim to his ranch, the prosecutors contend." Helluva alibi...
Fatboy former film maker - Michael Moore - cuts thru the cant:
"A frail old man, unable to remember things, stumbling, refusing to answer basic questions...I said it in 2017 and Mueller confirmed it today — All you pundits and moderates and lame Dems who told the public to put their faith in the esteemed Robert Mueller — just STFU from now on"
Today here in Oak Ridge, TN was about as nice as a day gets in July....ever. About 80 F for the high, and dew point below 50 for most of the daylight hours. We usually don't get a day like this after late May again until early September. A cold front reaching The Gulf this time of year is quite rare.
From "it was a complete and total exoneration" to "he never had a right to exonerate." Both lies. Trumpits don't care. All's for the best in this best of all possible Trump worlds. Master, just let me swallow this bug.
It was as close to exoneration as anyone will get after being investigated for 2 years, readering. Literally no evidence was uncovered to show an actual crime, and Mueller himself today said the investigation was not hindered in any way whatsoever. Case closed.
readering: "All's for the best in this best of all possible Trump worlds. Master, just let me swallow this bug."
All's for the best in this best of all possible anti-Trump worlds. Master, just let me swallow this hoax dossier and CIA-driven frame-up job.
You know, the only reason the dems/left/LLR's were forced to weaponize the entire federal govt against domestic political opponents as if this was East Germany is because Hitler invaded from the West.
Either Trump is the luckiest man alive, due to the ineptness of his opponents or God is truly on his side:
The political body count:
1. Jeb Bush - lost; political career over 2. Hillary Clinton - lost; political career over 3. John McCain - dead 4. Michael Cohen - jail 5. Michael Avennati- indicted 6. Stormy Daniels - lawsuit dismissed, owes Trump legal fees 7. James Comey - fired 8. Andrew McCabe - fired 9. Peter Strzok - fired 10. Robert Mueller - doddering fool
Need to nail Brennan and Clapper, then wrap it all up, and move on.
“Sad that folks watch a Trump in action and go, that's my guy”
What is sad is that Trump has been turning over rocks and shown us that democracy is an illusion and that the "free press” is now controlled by a small group of ultra rich robber barons who most of all want compliant politicians who are for sale. What is sad is that the oldest political party in the oldest democracy has fallen into the control of a venal machine like the Clintons’,
Maybe Putin is putting out destructive propaganda, but nobody has said its not the truth.
What’s said is that the Democrats have been unable to accept the results of an election. But we saw this with Obama, who, when the American people sent him a Republican congress, vowed to use his “pen and phone” rather than work with them.
readering is fine with the fact that, even though there was no underlying crime, he should be charged with obstruction of justice, even though he never interfered with the investigation and knew the whole time that there was no crime in the first place.
Headline from the local rag: Mueller doesn't exonerate Trump, or something like that. It seemed like Comrade is missing from the start or the end of the headline.
Donald Trump's campaign engaged in a conspiracy with the Russians to rig the 2016 election in his favor, and it worked.
President Donald Trump said the white supremacists at Charlottesville were good people.
President Donald Trump said ugly racists things about Ilhan Omar, AOC, Rashida Tlaib, and Ayanna Pressley.
Mueller said that Trump can be charged with a crime after he leaves the office of POTUS so he is obviously guilty of obstruction of justice and so should be impeached.
“Headline from the local rag: Mueller doesn't exonerate Trump, or something like that.”
Yeah, that’s all they have. Trump not proven completely innocent under extremely aggressive interpretations of the concept of obstruction of justice.
BTW, Hillary never obstructed justice by deleting 30k emails, and destroying phones with a hammer, and her lawyer in that case was running the Trump investigation “day to day” per Mueller’s testimony yesterday. Why that isn’t newsworthy should be a mystery, but it’s not. It’s not newsworthy because it doesn’t help the Democrats.
My understanding is that the elderly are often taken in by scams like this. Next time it will be a Nigerian prince who just needs her bank account info to help him lay claim to his birthright millions. Don’t do it Inga!
Oh Hahahaha! You quoted fake news saying this was fake news. Watch the embedded clip for yourself. Why are you people so stupid and gullible? ——————————————- “Where Inga got her talking points yesterday (Spoiler alert, it was fake news)
My understanding is that the elderly are often taken in by scams like this. Next time it will be a Nigerian prince who just needs her bank account info to help him lay claim to his birthright millions. Don’t do it Inga!”
WASHINGTON — Rep. Ken Buck, a Republican from Colorado, thought he had former Special Counsel Robert Mueller cornered on Wednesday. It backfired spectacularly.
“Later in the day, during his testimony before the House Intelligence Committee, Mueller cleared up a misconception from his previous remarks that suggested the special counsel’s office found Trump had committed obstruction but couldn’t indict because of DOJ policy. In fact, Mueller clarified, the special counsel’s office “did not reach a determination as to whether the president committed a crime.”) But Buck, a former prosecutor in the Justice Department, wasn’t finished with his questioning.
“Could you charge the president with a crime after he left office?” Buck asked.
Yes,” Mueller replied instantly.
Buck went on: “You believe that he committed — you could charge the President of the United States with obstruction of justice after he left office?”
“To be clear, Mueller does not appear to have said Trump specifically could be charged post-presidency for obstruction. Still, Democrats can now thank Buck for getting Mueller on the record saying that a sitting president could be indicted post-presidency for obstruction crimes — crimes that some legal experts believe President Trump has committed as described in the Mueller report.
Needless to say, however, this isn’t the what House Republicans — who tend to act more like the president’s de facto defense attorneys — were hoping to get out of Mueller’s hearing in any way, let alone as a result of questioning from one of their own members.
The reaction to Buck’s rhetorical flub was immediate:”
Hahahaha. I love when you dummies here who probably didn’t bother watching the hearing get your fake news from the Daily Caller, and Trump himself who made the same huge mistake yesterday.
Inga, Mueller explicitly withdrew that statement. Why are you hyena-laughing? You must just want people to waste their time schooling you and calling your name.
I am about to decide that you are a troll and begin deleting you all the time. Your intentions strike me as malign. You can — here, now — try to talk me out of this decision. Otherwise, you're done here.
I think many people are missing the most important implication of the KenBuck-Mueller exchange: after the IG reports come out later this summer, there will be a steadily growing drumbeat to pursue an investigation of former President Barack Obama for (among other things) obstruction of justice, and this video of Mueller will be shown over and over.
Althouse, do you too not understand what Ken Buck got Mueller to say later? Apparently despite being a law professor you DON’T. That should be embarrassing for you.
I was about to take Inga's side that she should not be banned in that she could be entertaining at times and gave us insight into what passes for the progressive soul. I personally never responded to her because the flame wars often got overdone and boring. She was also a good barometer for how we were doing in that she would disappear now and then when things turned Trump's way.
The Dem spin machine needs adjustment. Mueller needs a nap and a nice cup of tea. Nadler needs a diaper change. Schiff needs to study the ethics of leaking and lying.
I urge the House Democrats to pursue impeachment. Don't let a few bad reviews dissuade you. Mueller is the man to take you to the finish line.
Inga: "Althouse, do you too not understand what Ken Buck got Mueller to say later?"
LOL
It's very easy for the hillary/obama/biden crew to get old, senile and doddering incompetent Mewler to say many things...which then require formal DOJ assistance to walkback...but are necessary to keep the rabid far left cultist conspiracy junkies in line with false hope!!!
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
So. Much. Winning.
.....and so far I am not yet tired of all the winning.
Certain commenters, who I won't name here, need to stop drinking before breakfast. But maybe they, or she, was on an all-night bender after the Mueller-fest. Life won't get any better through an alcoholic haze. Depression can never be cured with drink.
He progressed the Democrat narrative. The witches have been hunted, the warlocks have been dunked or burned, and the babies are planned and sequestered for the sake of social progress and population control. Now (pun intended) the hunts and trials are a heavy weight on his conscience. That's good, not bad.
Cockroach Inga, lashing out in a psychotic break, gives credence to Francisco D's concerns.
Time for another cocktail, Inga.
And as to your treatment of Althouse... all you've done is prove what a dishonest shitheel you are. No one is wrong as much as you. Yet you refuse to acknowledge any errors. Althouse created a space to encourage discussions between literate, smart people of any political persuasions. I suspect she did so because the best teachers are always lifelong students. You come in here and just fling poo. Why? because you are aware that your intellect is not capable of keeping up... and you realize that people you have demonized in your flailing attempts to find someone to feel superior too...conservatives... are actually outsmarting you all day. And are better people than you, to boot.
You are having a psychotic break as your whole world as you visualized it starts to lose focus. And you blame Althouse, while claiming that YOU have a better grasp of the law than her. Delusional. You call her stupid?? Dear, you project more than the Century 21 movie chain.
You should be embarrassed for what you've become. Believe me, I know you better than you know yourself.
Instead of having Inga go cold turkey and try to get her to quit her Full Lefty Lunatic Rehab all at once, lets see if we can get her to simply take one small incremental step to allow her to demonstrate that she is not too far gone:
Here's a softball Inga: just admit that the hoax dossier has ZERO verified elements.
That should be easy at this point. Comey said so, steele said so, The Adulturous Lovers Page and Smirky Strzok said so in their texts, the recently released FBI spreadsheet showing that NONE of the hoax dossier Putin-provided disinformation points were verified by the FBI and no less a lefty-rag as the New York Times has openly suggested a RUSSIAN DISINFORMATION. campaign was behind it!!
So go ahead Inga, lets baby step this!
Just write: the steele dossier is completely unverified!
Go ahead!!
Come on old girl, you can do it!!
No halfway baby step here though. No no no! Dont fall into the "some of the dossier" trap!!
Mueller and his team should all be investigated and indicted for fraud. They actually used the mainstream press as a source for information in the report. Pathetic.
"I think Mueller did a horrible job, both today and his investigation, but in his defense, he had nothing to work with. Obviously he did poorly. I don't think anybody here, even you fakers, would say he did well."
"Even the networks whose ratings have tanked because of this said he did a terrible job."
"I've seen how he ruined people's lives because they didn't remember or date or something minor. Democrats bankrupt people with legal fees. If I said it was a sunny day and somebody spotted a cloud, they'd say I lied. They destroy lives of good people."
"Mueller had no material to work with, and he did a terrible job."
"This was one of the worst performances in the history of our country. You know this. He had no material. Just fake facts. And they tried to do an illegal overthrow."
"You are untruthful when you ask that question. Know who else is untruthful? Mueller's aides. Like Weissmann. And Weissmann got busted just like he did with Arthur Andersen. His aides put him in a very bad position."
Inga threads have been bad for years, Doc. Ritmo used to be at least readable in the years folks like 7 machos was around. But for most of the last decade he has gone steadily downhill. Ritmo, Inga, and a couple others have been 'scroll-over country' for me for years. I've only taken to reading Inga's stuff lately because, frankly, she is such a train wreck/dumpster fire that is joyful for me to watch her disintegrate. It must be sad for her many daughters to see her decline.
Yes, I can be a petty shrew at times. I put that on my resume, right next to my military service.
Stephanie Delmonico: "Drago, you are the Albert Schweitzer and Mother Theresa of this blog's commentariat... you just keep dishing out the love for the afflicted. I'll light a candle for you."
I am humbled.
In the words of George M Cohen (as relayed to us via James Cagney), my Father thanks you, my Mother thanks you, my Sister thanks you, and I thank you.
I think it would have been child’s play to manipulate a doddering old fool like Mueller, who couldn’t even remember that he had been first appointed to his first Federal job by RR (Ronaldus Magnus), so I am ready to declare the old fool hors de combat. Now we need to know who was really running the witch hunt, probably the same person who was really doing all of those unmaskings using Samantha Powers’ credentials, then leaking them directly to the WaPo and NYT, carefully edited, of course. She denies having done them the same way that Mueller has now denied running the investigation.
This is so much bigger than Watergate it’s almost unbelievable, it would be unbelievable if there weren’t so much evidence.
Mueller just told us that it was one of Hillary’s lawyers who was doing his job as special counsel. The original bleachbit and hammers guy. Why isn’t that a huge story? Because it doesn’t help the Democrats. Only somebody utterly shameless or utterly clueless could have been the figurehead for this investigation, so they picked somebody clueless who had been appointed by Reagan.
Late to the party but I will pick this up from my comment on the Muellerday post.
Interesting that Penzeys Spices (a longtime fixture in Madison) chooses to season its FB ads with anti-Trump barbs. Latest is an excerpt where Adam Schiff gets Mueller to say: "Trump and his campaign welcomed and encouraged Russian interference...and then Trump and his campaign lied about it to cover it up..." Actually these were Schiff's words to which Muller responded yes. Sleazy leading questions.
I do give Penzeys props for cleverness though. Their ad is for "Tsar Dust" Russian seasoning. Pictured is the container along with a hamburger topped with beets. They call it a Nothing Burger.
Inga has said in the past that the Steele dossier was largely verified.
Somebody provided a link, maybe to Salon, that claimed to show this, but if you read it, which I did, basically it was a very thin gruel. based on generously interpreted circumstantial evidence, things like Trump won, so the Russians must have done it, since it would be impossible otherwise, and argument from authority that Steele was a solid source.
Read it yourself if you want to see where they are getting their talking points. If I had turned this in in college as a paper, I would have gotten a pity D and a lot of red ink and double question marks.
... things like Trump won, so the Russians must have done it, since it would be impossible otherwise ...
Is it that hard for Democrats to recognize (1) how fed up the American middle class are with the Democrats’ policies, and (2) how terrible a candidate Hillary Clinton was?
Big Mike: "Is it that hard for Democrats to recognize (1) how fed up the American middle class are with the Democrats’ policies, and (2) how terrible a candidate Hillary Clinton was?"
Stop trying to use logic to understand the actions of the left/dems/LLR-left.
I would like to see Inga rephrase that little bit that she believes to be so damning in her own words. That shouldn’t take long and will help with my deprogramming.
Or maybe purplepenquin can explain why Althouse shouldn’t be exasperated with Inga’s obtuseness, by making her point for her, in plain language. Show Althouse how partisan she is being.
Checked out that link about the 'verified' elements of the Steele dossier. So bear in mind that the article was written two years ago and has been debunked for quite a while. The entirety of their arguments boils down to 'Steele is a reliable person. Although there is no evidence, why would he lie?'
But let them say it in their own words: "Like any private firm, Orbis’ (the company behind the article- SD)ability to remain in business relies on its track record of credibility. Success for Steele and his colleagues depends on his integrity, reliability, and the firm’s reputation for serious work. In this regard, Steele is putting his reputation and his company’s continued existence on the line with each report. Yes, as with anyone operating in the murky world of intelligence, he could be duped. Nonetheless, his reputation for handling sensitive Russian espionage operations over the years suggests that he is security conscious and aware of Russian counterintelligence and disinformation efforts. His willingness to share his work with professional investigative agencies, such as the FBI and the British Security Service, also suggest that he is comfortable opening his work to scrutiny and is seen as a serious partner by the best in the business."
That's their 'evidence'. Enough for Cockroach Inga, I guess. Or maybe reading to the end of the article would've distracted her from her pre-lunch Happy Hour?
The two principals in orbis burrows and Steele had been burned around 2002, that was around the time Vauxhall sent him to Afghanistan. Now Steele was talking to gerald Seymour at some point because there was a novel where there was a handler of a character like litvinenko.
"The entirety of their arguments boils down to 'Steele is a reliable person."
Andrew McCarthy has addressed this line of reasoning, specifically as it relates to application for a FISA warrant. He says it not recognized as a valid argument. Even if you accept the integrity of the informant (a stretch in Steele's case), he is not relating first hand information. He is simply passing on information from his informant; in this case, supposedly, a Russian agent. You have to validate the information itself.
Orig: My understanding is that the actual informant, the person with first hand knowledge, had to be reliable. Steele never provided his sources, IIRC. That set off what sounded like alarm bells to some folks in the FBI. Others heard opportunity knocking.
I read McCarthy's article when first published, so my memory may be faulty. In any event, the FBI, or elements thereof, acted outside the agency's SOP and doctrine.
So anyway, this keeps getting more funny. The white hispanic Cuban guy was in an all black store when he was told to go back where he came from. There is now video. I sure am surprised at this make believe hate crime. First time that has happend, am I right?
"In her Facebook video, Thomas indicated she was in fear for her life and didn’t know what to do. She said on Twitter that her husband wasn’t around to defend her because he was in the military and was deployed.
But in the Publix video, it’s very clear that she was not in fear for her life and took control of the situation very quickly after Eric Sparkes approached her (not with his hands “clenched” as she originally asserted) and pointed to the sign about 10 items in the express lane. In fact, she practically chased him out of the store.
In her Facebook video, she complained towards the end about the fact that no one stepped in to help her in spite of the fact that several people including two Publix employees were standing nearby. After watching the Publix video, it’s clear that she didn’t need anyone to intervene, that she aggressively went after Sparkes and kept pointing at the door for him to leave. At one point during the video you can see a store manager ushering Sparkes out"
The video directly contradicts what she claimed and the statement she gave to the police! The guy walks over near her, says something, she clearly gets irate, walks towards him several times and makes several aggressive hand/arm motions. She told the police he charged at her with clenched fists and had to be restrained by an employee. The video demonstrates that's false! Couple that with the witness reports that SHE was the one telling HIM to "go back to where you came from"
"Buck went on: “You believe that he committed — you could charge the President of the United States with obstruction of justice after he left office?” “Yes,” Mueller said again.” For the stupid lazy thinkers here."
That kind of insulting is ridiculous. Inga, you've proved yourself to be a troll.
Mueller's yes there is a yes to the proposition the DOJ rule against charging the President becomes inapplicable after the person leaves office. He can then be charged for something he did in office. But the prosecutor would still need to decide that there was a basis for charging him!
What a waste of time!
I wish there were more liberal commenters. A lot more.
But trolls are drawing you in just to annoy you and waste your time.
I conclude that Inga is a troll and that is binding for my purposes here. I gave her a chance to prove that she is not a troll, but she proved that she is.
Don't understand that ruling. Inga tiresomely insults but that seems to be the modus operandi for political comments here. (drago anyone?) Her basic point was that even after the Mueller walk-back he still maintained that Trump was never exonerated on obstruction and therefore fair game for prosecutors looking into his conduct post-presidency (if SoL hasn't kicked in. A big if).
It is extraordinarily rare for a prosecutor ever to issue and "exoneration." That is not the job of a prosecutor. The job of a prosecutor is to indict or shut up. There should never, ever, ever be any hint of "we coulda prosecuted him but he's slippery." Never. If you hear such words, they are coming from a politician, not a prosecutor. Sometimes they are the same person, but that person should be treated ONLY as a politician, as he has forfeited claim to be an officer of the court.
"I conclude that Inga is a troll and that is binding for my purposes here."
Thank you. I shop Amazon all of the time. If you keep her off, I will ALWAYS use the Althouse portal (have never done so in the past). Again, thank you.
"My standard for reading commenters is: will they say something I can't get elsewhere?"
Kind of today's standard for reading or watching the news. So many outlets seem unaware that there are 10,000 places to get today's anti-Trump talking points. An over-served market in which so many providers are struggling.
My standard for reading commenters here, assuming I go to the comments, is it recent and is it less than 4 paragraphs or do the first 3 paragraphs grab me? (And most I just quickly skim anyway. So many things comments.) know I am free to ignore stuff.
"I conclude that Inga is a troll and that is binding for my purposes here. I gave her a chance to prove that she is not a troll, but she proved that she is."
I don't know. Igna has a certain quality, a kind of imperviousness, that I find perversely satisfying. When she writes something breath-takingly asinine, and I refute it with a clever and witty riposte that nonetheless is dead-on accurate and witheringly incisive ... and yet, she persists .... (bursts into song)
"Oh, how do you solve a problem like our Igna? How can you cure a Moonbat with a ban?"
It's kind of cute how the Dems howled when Comey violated DOJ standards and went into detail regarding Hillary's email crimes without charging her but are fine with Mueller violating DOJ standards and declaring Trump not proven innocent without having being charged. Our system of justice once had the appearance of even handedness, but now it's just bull shit because of the bull shitters at the top.
"I wish there were more liberal commenters. A lot more."
Why do you suppose there aren't? 330 million people in this country, and half of them voted for that Hellsow Clinton. You'd think a few more bleeding-heart please-tax-me-more egghead intellectuals with time on their hands at their cushy government jobs would feel like offering us their elitist musings. It's a puzzle.
It is a Constitutional right to be allowed due process, and it is understood that your right to be presumed innocent is a "fundamental element" of this process.
The state must prove beyond reasonable doubt that the accused is guilty. While it might not be the smartest move, the accused has no obligation to prove his innocence as it must be assumed by the court.
"Not proven innocent" is political bullshit and how the Dems get more Trump.
"Don't understand that ruling. A big if)."
I don't think that was her basic point, since it's a point that I agree with. Obviously, I thought she was saying Mueller repeated the statement that in fact he withdrew. I could be wrong about what she meant to assert, and she could have come back and said she was sorry to be so insulting and maybe she'd been unclear. I didn't like her tone, and I spoke to her with respect, saying, "Why are you hyena-laughing? You must just want people to waste their time schooling you and calling your name[s]." This refers to the MANY occasions in the past when she has provoked and participated in back and forth with people. MANY threads have been ruined when they turn into people not being able to resist her taunts, and it turns into "Inga... Inga... Inga." I believe she wants attention and has fun getting everyone to talk about her. This has been a problem for YEARS. I've asked MANY times in the past for people -- and specifically her -- to stop, so I hate to see it ever starting up, as it had been in this thread.
Therefore I gave an explicit ultimatum: "I am about to decide that you are a troll and begin deleting you all the time. Your intentions strike me as malign. You can — here, now — try to talk me out of this decision. Otherwise, you're done here."
She needed to respond to my concerns and instead she treated me with blatant disrespect: "Althouse, do you too not understand what Ken Buck got Mueller to say later? Apparently despite being a law professor you DON’T. That should be embarrassing for you. Pathetic."
She threw away her participation here. It doesn't matter who got it right or wrong about the Ken Buck bullshit. It was an ultimatum moment and she had to go with the personal insult. I had to follow through.
If "Her basic point was that even after the Mueller walk-back he still maintained that Trump was never exonerated on obstruction and therefore fair game for prosecutors looking into his conduct post-presidency" then there wouldn't have been anything to argue about. That's just a plain, obvious point, so what would be the big deal about Ken Buck supposedly unwittingly helping out the Democrats? What would there be to exult like a jackass about if that's all the Ken Buck stuff was about?
readering: "Don't understand that ruling. Inga tiresomely insults but that seems to be the modus operandi for political comments here. (drago anyone?)"
LOL
Inga viciously attacks people in a vulgar fashion.
I simply highlight the many many laughably transparent contradictory and incoherent and self-owning blatherings of the left/LLR-left.
Yeah, AA, I think I made that point or similar in the newer thread. She went banshee in response to your ultimatum and I think the substance of her posts was lost in the frothing (although Yancey Ward may be correct that she was standing on her morning views of Mueller's statements. It was rather hard to follow).
"But you and I, we've been through that And this is not our fate So let us not talk falsely now The hour is getting late"
Based on the news today, the Dem MSM reporter/operatives are about to go "Full Inga", so we don't need her to guide us to the central message, the totalitarian pill hidden in the liberal butter. God knows what she would have done to top them.

Sounds like the ruling was based more on the sophistry than the insults. And I agree with Althouse: it is tiresome. If you're arguing in good faith, you don't throw sophistic arguments all over the place, causing debate traffic jams and detours. The argument is meritless, we all can see it's meritless, but a troll forces you to waste time explaining why it's wrong.
My decision to exclude a commenter is based on my judgment that the person does not value this forum but means to screw it up and hurt it. There was a style of jumping into the conversation and insulting other commenters by name and getting everyone to talk to her and name her and then go back and forth with her. She was also directly insulting me instead of responding to my very real concerns when I confronted her and warned her that she needed to realign herself with the interests of this forum that I work hard to maintain.

I am reading Washington Post headlines that suggest Mueller killed it. Apparently disinformation is a strength. It worked for the Hillary campaign and their Russian colluders, so why shouldn't it work for the Post? The Bezos gang has certainly been trying it long enough.

From the PM speech:
"But if you look at the history of the last 200 years of this party’s existence, you will see that it is we Conservatives who have had the best insights, I think, into human nature and in the best insights in how to manage the jostling sets of instincts in the human heart. And time and again, it is to us that the people of this country have turned to get that balance right between the instincts to own your own house, your own home, to earn and spend your own money, to look after your own family.
Good instincts, proper instincts, noble instincts. And the equally noble instinct to share and to give everyone a fair chance in life."
Not bad
My best attempt to summarize the Mueller testimony in one sentence:
The Special Prosecutor - Mr. Magoo - reverses the presumption of innocence, and declines to exonerate the President.
This ends my rant.
@gilbar, any and all red state senators who vote to convict in the (increasingly unlikely) event of impeachment had best be planning what to do after the voters turn them out.
> I am reading trump haters who think Mueller killed it.
There is nothing sadder than a pronoun in search of an antecedent :)

He really is the light bringer.
readering is fine with the fact that, even though there was no underlying crime, he should be charged with obstruction of justice, even though he never interfered with the investigation and knew the whole time that there was no crime in the first place.
Ain’t that America...
Headline from the local rag: Mueller doesn't exonerate Trump, or something like that. It seemed like Comrade is missing from the start or the end of the headline.
They say:
Donald Trump's campaign engaged in a conspiracy with the Russians to rig the 2016 election in his favor, and it worked.
President Donald Trump said the white supremacists at Charlottesville were good people.
President Donald Trump said ugly racists things about Ilhan Omar, AOC, Rashida Tlaib, and Ayanna Pressley.
Mueller said that Trump can be charged with a crime after he leaves the office of POTUS so he is obviously guilty of obstruction of justice and so should be impeached.
I'm seeing a theme here, amiright?
By “doesn’t help the Democrats” I mean it doesn’t help the mega billionaires who own the press and their puppets in the government.

In fact, Mueller clarified, the special counsel’s office “did not reach a determination as to whether the president committed a crime.”)
But Buck, a former prosecutor in the Justice Department, wasn’t finished with his questioning.
“Could you charge the president with a crime after he left office?” Buck asked.
Yes,” Mueller replied instantly.
Buck went on: “You believe that he committed — you could charge the President of the United States with obstruction of justice after he left office?”
“Yes,” Mueller said again.
Republican Ken Buck thought he had a “gotcha” with Mueller, but he was sadly mistaken.
Pathetic.
I will drop it. Funny as it is.
“Could you charge the president with a crime after he left office?” Buck asked.
Yes,” Mueller replied instantly.
Buck went on: “You believe that he committed — you could charge the President of the United States with obstruction of justice after he left office?”
“Yes,” Mueller said again.”
For the stupid lazy thinkers here.
I didn't have time to watch the entire hearing yesterday, but assume they finally showed the video of the Russian hookers peeing on Obama's bed...
Ellipses are not your friend, he admitted as much to Ted lieu.
But sadly she just signed her own death warrant.
Readering, on the other hand, is just plain vile.
MUEL-LER! MUEL-LER! MUEL-LER!
Inga: "Althouse, do you too not understand what Ken Buck got Mueller to say later?"

So long for now...or perhaps good-bye.
Mueller needs a nap and a nice cup of tea.
I just read the bloomberg article on the hearing that bore little resemblance with what was discussed here and at Ace's.
Trump really is the only one who can get over the MSM ramparts.
Go ahead Inga! You can do it......
LOL
Mueller testimony WAS a bombshell - exploding right on the charge of the impeachment brigade.
Mueller proved beyond any doubt that he is a Hillary hack.
Mueller is as corrupt as his staff.
Drago, you are the Albert Schweitzer and Mother Theresa of this blog's commentariat... you just keep dishing out the love for the afflicted.

My God ! Inga threads are getting as bad as Ritmo threads.
Good news is the American people no longer trust CNN, MSDNC, the FBI and the CIA.
Good going, corrutpocrats.
Mueller and Weissmann need to be brought up on charges of fraud and conspiracy.
Mueller is a disgrace.
The abuse of power by the leftwing machine is a disgrace to our Nation.
Mueller and his team MUST be investigated.
The media are still hiding behind "Mueller is a Republican".
And? This entire investigation was and remains a sham.
Drago said..."Here's a softball Inga: just admit that the hoax dossier has ZERO verified elements."
Inga has said in the past that the Steele dossier was largely verified. When asked for examples, she didn't respond.
I, for one, hope Althouse does not ban her. I enjoy the comic relief.
Bloomberg article was trying to spin it as much as possible, and even that ended at no change in the status.
Interesting how they did so.
It deserves a good fisking.
Nadeler looked sad with Pelosi and Schiff at the press conference after the Mueller debacle.
I got kicked off of Penzy's e-mail list for telling them that Hillary sucks.
If you're a deplorable, you shouldn't shop at Penzy's. They do not want your business.
Looks like the professor has little patience this morning, Inga already put out to pasture.
I got kicked off of Penzy's e-mail list for telling them that Hillary sucks.
If she had sucked when Bill asked her, Monica Lewinsky would not be infamous.
https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2017/09/a-lot-of-the-steele-dossier-has-since-been-corroborated.html
Read it yourself if you want to see where they are getting their talking points. If I had turned this in in college as a paper, I would have gotten a pity D and a lot of red ink and double question marks.

Its about power.
Period.
"cruel"? Yes
"neutral"? Ehhh...not so much
I would like to see Inga rephrase that little bit that she believes to be so damning in her own words.
But let them say it in their own words:
"Like any private firm, Orbis’ (the company behind the article- SD)ability to remain in business relies on its track record of credibility.
Hard to say.

Oh, heck. Hitler hears about Muellers testimony.
Those of you who spit coffee on your keyboard are forewarned:
Hitler reacts
Never get tired of those video parodies.
Video: Erica Thomas Publix Confrontation

A big if).
"Trump was never exonerated on obstruction..."
"an exoneration"
Not "and"
"I conclude that Inga is a troll and that is binding for my purposes here."
Thank you. I shop Amazon all of the time. If you keep her off, I will ALWAYS use the Althouse portal (have never done so in the past). Again, thank you.
My standard for reading commenters is: will they say something I can't get elsewhere?
"My standard for reading commenters is: will they say something I can't get elsewhere?"
Kind of today's standard for reading or watching the news. So many outlets seem unaware that there are 10,000 places to get today's anti-Trump talking points. An over-served market in which so many providers are struggling.
My standard for reading commenters here, assuming I go to the comments, is it recent and is it less than 4 paragraphs or do the first 3 paragraphs grab me? (And most I just quickly skim anyway. So many things comments.) know I am free to ignore stuff.
I propose that readering be charged with all offenses that she has not been exonerated of immediately after her last blog post today.
First read all today's posts!
Im unaware of any formal doctrine of exoneration that would prevent future trials. Anyone got background on that? Precedent?
Which did you prefer?
Now in addition to proving I'm not a robot, I may have to prove I'm not a troll?
Here's a fix to the cafe post tagline:
"... you can talk about whatever you want but ..."
"I wish there were more liberal commenters. A lot more."
How would you know??....and what would they say??
"I wish there were more liberal commenters. A lot more."
I think they're all just tiresome trolls sucking the fun out of the comments section.
"Don't understand that ruling.
Night and day difference with Inga.
Obviously.
Yeah, AA, I think I made that point or similar in the newer thread. She went banshee in response to your ultimatum and I think the substance of her posts was lost in the frothing (although Yancey Ward may be correct that she was standing on her morning views of Mueller's statements. It was rather hard to follow).
Drago, another LOL, huh?
"But you and I, we've been through that
And this is not our fate

Based on the news today, the Dem MSM reporter/operatives are about to go "Full Inga", so we don't need her to guide us to the central message, the totalitarian pill hidden in the liberal butter. God knows what she would have done to top them.

readering: "Don't understand that ruling. Inga tiresomely insults but that seems to be the modus operandi for political comments here. (drago anyone?)"
