The wife-to-be and I really wanted to attend the Procol Harum concert live with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, especially as it was to be recorded and released as an album. But we procrastinated until it was sold out. Then to really rub it in, we heard later that a problem with the recording equipment required the entire show to be repeated the same night, so we missed a two-fer.

Other concerts I shoulda, but didn't, attend: The Association and Jimi Hendrix at UCLA when I was going there (not on the same bill). To make up for that we saw Bob Dylan play the University of Portland maybe 12-13 years ago in a dual-purpose basketball arena/concert venue, which somehow managed to have amazing acoustics. Dylan's singing was for crap but he didn't sing that much and he had the best band I've ever heard live, with much Dylan-free playing. Stupendously good.

There were some posts a ways back with hiccup remedies. I don't recall seeing the one that worked 100% of the time for me: drink a glass of water large enough so that you're drinking when the next hiccup is scheduled to occur. If you drink through the next hiccup, it won't happen and they stop. This might also be a permanent cure as I haven't had the hiccups in probably 20 years now, maybe longer.

I was lucky enough to see Monty Python at the Hollywood Bowl back in The Day. Then it got produced into a film.

Technically, does that mean I get a IMDB credit?

Tour a Spanish supermarket

The differences between nations show up in all sorts of ways. Some of the more telling are about things that they eat. And the Spanish eat ...pig. My dad missed the pig-stuff from his home, so he went so far as to start a small sausage-factory, making Bilbao-style chorizos.

And all sorts of things that you will never see in the US. The video actually misses some of my favorite things, as they barely touch on desserts - turrones and mazapan (marzipan), yemas and leche frita. And the point of churros is to go superbly with chocolate, Spanish style, thick enough to stand a spoon in it. I can't have any of that stuff anymore, sadly.

We are going, and we aren't coming back, unless my wife or the kids make me. They will have to try hard.

The other sort of tapas, btw - from my grandmas home town.

I have been lucky enough to see a lot of great acts, especially considering I live in a middling city (Of course I was elsewhere for many):

Count Basie
Dave Bruebeck
Slam Stewart
Lionel Hampton
B.B. King
The Eagles
The Doobie Brothers (a credible lineup)
Blondie
Van Morrison
The Beach Boys (many times, the classic lineup and several others including the reunion)
The Swimming Pool Qs
Boz Scaggs
Cyndi Lauper
Steve Miller
Tony Bennet
Roger Whittaker
They Might Be Giants
Paul McCartney
Paul Simon
Bob Dylan
Al Stewart
Bob Seger
Fleetwood Mac (Rumours lineup)
Dick Dale
Prince
Elton John
Crosby, Stills & Nash
Foreigner

Man. That's more than I thought. Lately you don't even have to shed your clothes and run directly to the shower when you get home.

my honda fit did this; VERY frustrating. Mine seemed to be water (moisture) related. If i foolishly opened the roof when the roof was wet, it seemed like That was causing it.

Fix: If it would ever dry out, it seemed like it would start working again. Once i noticed the water thing, i'd try wiping it, which seemed to help.
Right before i got rid of it, i came up with a theory that weather strip around the roof (NOT the moon roof, but the hole in the roof itself) needed to be pushed back. I'd convinced myself that this (or something like this )was the cause. The roof must have some sort of sensor on it to keep you from closing the roof on your hand/neck)
the water, weatherstripping makes it think there's a jam

Then, last fall; i traded it in, and i don't rememember this as well as you'd like. sorry

Here's an article all should read:

https://amgreatness.com/2019/03/09/18-real-attacks-on-the-rule-of-law/

It identifies specific crimes or "attacks on rule of law" by individuals in the Obama dept of justice and FBI. And now I think John Brennan, Obama CIA director is implicated in a number of these and similar issues.

Anyone who took the Church Committee investigation seriously and was concerned, or anyone who thought JEHoover had too much power in the policy making process needs to square those opinions with their attitudes toward Obama administration actions.

Funniest thing I ever saw onstage was at the Cyndi Lauper concert.

During one song (I forget which), her guitarist (a guy) and violinist (a gal) were having a "duel" and trading off hot licks. Lauper (not singing during this segment of the song) bops over to where they are facing each other, puts an arm over each of them and hugs them. Then she squeezes, bringing them closer together, and the violinist's bow gets stuck in the guitar strings and *twang* -- flies off across the stage.

The crowd goes wild and all three of them are just falling out for a few minutes, then Lauper says: OK, we're going to pretend that didn't happen and start over!

Another sad day for the Onion:

https://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/434338-hundreds-of-people-plank-outside-of-supreme-court-to-celebrate

Hundreds of people marked Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's 86th birthday on Friday by channeling her workout routine outside of the Supreme Court.

The #PlankLikeRBG trend is believed to have started with a Facebook group called "Plank Like RBG 86th Birthday Celebration at Supreme Court."

More than 500 people indicated they planned to go to the event at the Supreme Court, and many others posted that they would plank at home or at their place of work.

Many gathered for a giant group plank, but throughout the day, reporters estimated hundreds came by and planked outside the Supreme Court to share their birthday wishes

I have lived a limited life - a brush with death here, a few decades of pain there, and a more or less average life overall, if you leave out the fact that I almost died for my country - not many people do that, but I do not like to mention it because nobody wants to fucking hear it, because nobody likes to think there are people like me out there who have done more for their country than they have - well, all in all, a life full of nothing that anyone would notice ---- but I Pray to God every day for everybody who has been kind to me or who has been unkind to me.

Maybe I am stupid but I do not see much difference because I know how little it takes to turn an unkind person into a kind person.
A prayer here, a prayer there, a little hope for a selfish fool to look into the eyes of someone said fool cares about and to say to oneself:

wow this is a beautiful world.

Sad thing I had to spend decades and decades without a pain free hour to be able to write this way, 40 years ago I was not a good writer, now I am, if not a good writer, at least someone who says what he means,

(and the key to understanding me - not that understanding me is a worthwhile endeavor - is NDE - the mix of arrogance and humility one gets afterwards - arrogance as a byproduct of the respect you have for everybody because for a few moments you thought of them as if they (everybody, that is, you have ever met in this world), including yourself, were your ancestors by thousands of years (that respect, conversely, leads to arrogance because of that feeling one gets - well at least I have to fight the temptation to feel it ---- you feel like some kind of ambassador from a better world for the rest of your life) ---- and humility as a byproduct from the humble lack of concern for the fact that you are often utterly unable to describe what you know about God (not from lack of faith from human lack of competence) (humility after thousands of failed attempts to correctly explain) .... well God loves us all (me less than most people, though, as time goes by I become more aware of that - but God loves each of us so much I can get used to being one of his least favorites).

There isn’t going to be the excuse in 2020 that the issues didn’t get a fair hearing, that the press was too neutral in its coverage, or that they could have won if they’d had the right person running.

Everyone is running. Every issue is on the table. Every choice is available.

If it still fails to resonate, they might as well nuke the party from orbit just to be sure.
