"Dow, Bitcoin Price Wobble While Trump Gives Ridiculous Stock Market Analysis."

That's the headline at CCN.

CCN? Crypto Currency News.

What was Trump's "Ridiculous Stock Market Analysis"? He tweeted:
Had the opposition party (no, not the Media) won the election, the Stock Market would be down at least 10,000 points by now. We are heading up, up, up!
Is that really "analysis"?

If it's not analysis, what is it? Theater? Lying? Taunting? Why would the President of the United States act silly about the stock market?

One answer is he's crazy and incompetent, but I think he's in control and choosing to express himself like that, so the question is why. First, obviously, he's been successful, so it's more of something that works. But why is it successful (I don't think he's successful in spite of his strange way of talking)? I think it's the virality of being weird and (to some) very annoying. The economic news is good — I guess — so he wants people to notice and give him credit. That's something the media won't do on their own, so he has to appeal to their desire to write only negative stories. If it didn't have the material needed to go negative — the made-up alternate reality of "down at least 10,000 points" and the irrational exuberance of "up, up, up!" — they wouldn't report it at all.

The thing to remember about the stock market is nobody wants to give you free money.

Somebody's selling what you buy, and somebody's buying what you sell. They're greedy too.

Trump is stupid in citing the stock market as a marker for his finance policies success. Markets go up and down for many reasons .Remember the market made great strides during the obama years, not because of the great economic news but due to QE lets say goes down due to a overheated correction he will be vilified. He is not wise.

Paul Krugman says stuff. CRap. But it's all for The Party. The corruption.
The Lies. The idiocy of a nation going down the crap hole.

Why democrats win - our public schools teach total crap.

ARTHUR CHRENKOFF: Socialism as a Millennial religion.

The Millennials can’t remember very much – and they don’t learn very much either. It’s easy being hot for socialism or communism when you actually have a very little idea of what it is and what it did throughout the 20th century. And the Ys have that ignorance in spades; one third of them think that George W Bush killed more people than Stalin and 42 per cent have never heard of Mao – but over 70 per cent agree with Bernie Sanders. Some research suggests that only 15 per cent actually have a correct understanding of socialism. It’s not just politics; the Millennials are the most woefully undereducated and miseducated generation in a very long time. To be fair, that’s not strictly their fault; that attaches itself again to their Boomer grandparents who have been in charge of our failing education systems during this time. Combine the modern indoctrination-cum-dumbification taking place in schools and universities with the attention span-killing impact of information technology and social media, and you have a barely literate cohort, which is simply not equipped with the necessary mental tools to learn about the real world even if they wanted to.

Why is this even a story? Why is it that any time Trump Tweets a random thing some hack at CNN feels the need to write up some silly counter argument? What audience is it serving? Who is eagerly reading such things? I guess there must be some pent up demand for Trump hatred. So how does it work for such people? DO they need to read at least one negative thing about Trump every 6 to 12 hours, like a perscription antibiotic or something? Or is it more like a daily affirmation?

Wince म्हणाले...

Since the media won’t do it, Trump is imparting the consequences of adopting the feel good economic policies now being espoused by the Democrats. While the markets are fickle he’s saying things will be worse no matter what happens if instead the Dems were in charge.

Jersey Fled म्हणाले...

Like all statements of what might of been, it is an opinion. It can neither be proven or disproven. Kind of like when Obama claimed to have prevented a Depression. Which CNN embraced enthusiastically.

Opinion that you believe is a fact. Opinion that you disbelieve is a lie.

I'm sure you're familiar with the word "hyperbole," so why this posturing?

The idiocy here is the absurd implication that a throwaway line like this would be a reason for Bitcoin to "wobble."

stlcdr म्हणाले...

Limited blogger म्हणाले...

gahrie म्हणाले...

If Trump's analysis is ridiculous...what of Krugman's prediction that the economy would tank and never recover after Trump's election. Surely it is much worse given the fact that Krugman is a Nobel winning economist?

jaydub म्हणाले...

Didn't Paul Krugman etal claim Trump's election was going to lead to a market collapse so severe that it would never recover? CNN not only did not have a problem with that kind of hyperbole at the time, but also pushed the same line and has done so ever since. Well, Trump now has CNN reminding the electorate that the market is now up over 40% since his election and all it took was one tweet. CNN is nothing but a caricature of a news organization and Trump plays them like a fiddle.

Nonapod म्हणाले...

My suspicion is that the author of this little piece has a bunch of money in it.

JAORE म्हणाले...

The economic news is good — I guess — so he wants people to notice and give him credit.

He has to ask. That's because the MSM gave the prior POTUS credit for any and all glimmer of good economic news. He even got credit for less negative-than-we-feared economic news.

The credit bank was overdrawn and won't be flush for another 2-6 years.

Shouting Thomas म्हणाले...

Since the Democrats screeched that the DOW would go down the toilet when Trump was elected, I think the president's tweet is sane, justified and probably correct.

The Dems invited this by setting the level of the DOW as a benchmark for Trump's success or failure.

Bushman of the Kohlrabi म्हणाले...

Dow is wobbling?

Fake news.

Mr Wibble म्हणाले...

Trump throws these things out there like martial artist testing his opponent. He's trying to get an overreaction from the left.

gilbar म्हणाले...

is, or isn't the dow more than %40 since the election?
dow at 11/04/2016 == 18332
dow Right now == 25900 [up 17 points for the day, 300 in past 5 days]
25900-18332 = 7568
7568/18332 = 0.412830024001746 == More than %40

WHERE do YOU think the dow would be with hilary? Answers please?

Limited blogger म्हणाले...

The above Dow numbers don't include the futures drop over night after the election.

They hit 17,554 at one point.

So if you bought during the after market dip, you would have even a bigger gain.

Original Mike म्हणाले...

Market skyrocketed the day Trump was elected. Poor Obama. Rarely has the market made a more definitive judgement on a President's economic policies.

That is evil.

Blather is much better than evil.

Readering: "He just says stuff."

Trump should probably tone it down before he says some really moronic "stuff" such as the Soviets only invaded Poland from the East because Germany invaded from the West.

If he were to say something that ignorant we might have a real problem!

Big Mike म्हणाले...

You GUESS?. Maybe you might want to go look it up? And can I ask what you would have done to a student’s grade if he wrote “the Supreme Court is important — I guess”?

I agree that there is hyperbole in Trump’s taunt. The stock market had already been depressed on the expectation of a Hillary victory. Despite Hillsry’s having been driven leftward by the extremists in her party, I think the market would be down only about 5000 to 7000 points.

Birkel म्हणाले...

Paul Krugman: The Dow may never recover.

Donald Trump: My election has been great for the markets.

One of these statements was treated as likely true, even by skilled analysts.
The other was seen as political hyperbole without merit.

I don't know if it's purposeful or smart or dumb or crazy, but it is perfectly normal taunting in the real world where Trump has always worked. In politics people pretend to be serious, substantial, and thoughtful, but that's just for show. They are afraid to be themselves, so they act the part of the serious politician - thinking that has to be better. Behind closed doors they are just as trivial, and petulant, and unserious as the rest of us. By contrast, I believe there is only one Trump, and I like that. What real value is a pretend personality in the job? We all know it's an act. People actually listen to what Trump says for the very reason that it's authentic. Just ask anybody in the media what the news today, and the first word will be "Trump".

The word you want is "bullshitting" Trump is a classic bullshitter, a trait not uncommon among real estate developers.

If you asked him how he can be sure that the DJIA would be down 10,000 had Hillary won, he would not even know how to parse the question, he is just operating in a completely different mode.

I suspect that was how he was operating when, for example, he said Mexico would pay for the wall. Bullshitting... not exactly lying, not exactly truthful, not quite sincere but not really insincere. Bullshitting.

You cannot “analyze” anything in a single tweet, obviously.

One wonders what CNN would fill their airwaves with 24x7 if they didn’t have Trump’s tweets to give them the vapors every damn day. At this point a webcam of a bridge would be more interesting than this crap.
