"Sign on the wall at Smirky's Café: 'Please Don't Punch The Rats.'"

Writes Bob Boyd in last night's "Smirky's Café" — the one with the smirking rat...

This is for you, Bob Boyd:

Not that Bob needs to grow up, right?

Oh, no! Things that can be misread! I'm like that restauranteur with the not-blackface photo on the wall.

Get that rat a MAGA hat

Meade म्हणाले...

I mean, I have the sense that Bob is a fully grown up adult man.

Most of the time.

By the way, I still have a few rat stickers and even some rat magnets left. If anyone wants one, feel free to email me your mailing address.

Glad to see Walker's Foxconn deal was a huge success. Apparently handing out govt funds is only bad when it's to poor people and teachers. Foreign companies with a history of screwing over workers though? Pssh.

@Meade,

Somehow, I suspect that if Bob Boyd can't take gentle & funny needling like that, he would not be a (fairly) long-time commenter here Chez MeadeHouse.

This is not an environment for the thin-skinned.

"Rat Punch" sounds like the title of an Elmore Leonard book.

There was that notorious Seinfeld episode where George's mother caught him Punching the Rat.

A rat not really punching another rat. Pretty special.

But this short kung foo kitties video is funny, even though they're not really kung anythings.

Trumpit म्हणाले...

Is it a crime to be born a rat? What if you were born a rat? How would you feel about rat traps and rat poison?

Can we agree that killing rodents is wrong? How would you like it if a rat killed you. When humans kill it is generally with malice aforethought. Rats are not evil like humans are.

Truth-O-Meader rates this comment: TRUE

Rats are evil in their own unique peculiar rodential way. See: Ben. https://youtu.be/Iq8i3jP5glU?t=109

I'm bumping this because I like this wise-ass little brother.

You're calling someone stupid, and you're writing "Mike Brzezinski."

"No retardo... I'm taking Intro to German, and even I know that."

Thanks Professor. And my hat is off to you.
I'm glad to finally see a national forum like Althouse Blog have the courage to start a conversation about the crisis of rat on rat violence in the restaurant industry. The video you posted is an excellent example of the kind of shocking brutality rampant along eatery baseboards throughout this country.
Obviously somebody shaved the victim rat, probably they thought it would be funny, but shaving a rat and releasing it back into a dining facility is an invitation to gang violence in the rat world and often amounts to a death sentence for the shavee. Just don't do it. Tell your friends. #don'tshaverats

Just think of them as squeaky kulaks with long thin tails, Trumpit. That should ease your conscience.

My mother told me that if I kept punching the rat, I'd go blind.
