A Democrat makes an impassioned plea for Democrats to vote for the Republican nominee for Attorney General in Wisconsin.

"Brad [Schimel] has been an attorney in Wisconsin for 28 years. He has handled over 16,000 Wisconsin state cases. Josh Kaul, since coming back [to Wisconsin] in 2014, has handled one Wisconsin state case and it wasn't even a criminal matter. The Wisconsin Attorney General represents the state of Wisconsin, and most importantly law enforcement.... There are hundreds of attorneys in Wisconsin who are Democrats who are qualified for this job. In my opinion, Josh Kaul is not one of them. He has handled one Wisconsin state case. One. Compared to Brad's 16,000."

The lawyer in the video, Saul Glazer, is someone I know, and I'm surprised to see him supporting a Republican.

ADDED: Saul emails that he is not a Democrat. The group is called "Democratic and Independent Voters for Brad Schimel."

He is probably a liberal.

Most liberals are looking at the Democrats now with fear.

Achilles म्हणाले...

He might realize who goes to the ovens first when the leftists take over.

@Ann, why surprised? It is *nominally* a non political role, and certainly in reality about 99% of the job is non political.

I had a friend, whose politics I do NOT agree with, run for the House and I supported him wholeheartedly because 99% of what he'd be doing was constituent service. And he's a good good man.

Evidence that there is at least one person in Wisconsin that places competency above party?

Jimmy म्हणाले...

It is surprising when a Democrat votes for a Republican. When a Republican votes with the Democrats, he or she is hailed as coming to their senses. Applauded and welcomed with open arms, at least into the outer circle of cool kids.
His use of his hands in the video is very off putting.

Not every democrat is crazy and pines for the disintegration of our institutions. Some people can lose gracefully (not women supporting Ford, however).

As Democrats continue their Karavan (sic) to the Left, they leave a lot of straggling tribesmen as collateral damage.

It's okay. We will pick them up.

He might know or had a bad experience with Josh Kaul. Not to be cynical, but endorsements are often given for personal reasons.

Oprah is on tv stumping for Abrams in GA. She is very good -- whether you like her or not - and would prob make a very strong candidate in 2020.

I’d vote for Brad. He went to UW Law School. The Dem looks to be a liberal elitist (Yale, Stanford) with no criminal law experience. I’d guess that 80% of the AG’s work is criminal law. Experience matters in that job.

You mean there actually Democrats in Wisconsin who care about good government. At least one, anyway. Now I have to rethink all my assumptions.

Qwinn म्हणाले...

Wow. This might bring the total number of liberals left in the country that I'm aware of that have even the possibility of being honest when it goes against their political interests to... four?

Did Oprah even get 1000 people to show up?

Looks like they booked small venues for her. No crowd pictures.

What is her platform going to be? Free stuff she is good at. But I don't see much enthusiasm for any issue Democrats are pushing.

I don't vote for lying, thieving politicians, which are most of them. Republicans are inherently worse than Democrats because they make no bones about doing the bidding of their wealthy backers. The X-mas tax giveaway to the wealthy is a recent prime example. Now, Trump is proposing a 10% "middle class tax cut." So, what was the last tax cut supposed to be? Lock the fraudster up! Do you Trumptards have wool covering your eyes?

Look, I excoriate leftists all the time--evil, for the most part.

But there's a lot of Democrats who are not leftists--people like my late grandmother, who never voted anything other than straight "D" but who would have been horrified at what the leftists have done to that party. She would never vote for the people who look at Mao's China and wonder why we can't have that here, like the Pelosis, Schumers, and Inga's of today.

Lots of non-suicidal Democrats are fleeing the party of leftists now. The Republican party is rapidly becoming the home for all the old time Democrats. Not sure where the old time conservatives are going, though.

Trumpit म्हणाले...

"Look, I excoriate leftists all the time--evil, for the most part."

I'm sure you're evil for the most part. I have trouble believing you are 100% evil until I know more about you. If you hunt Bambi, you're 100% evil.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bambi

Vance म्हणाले...

Hunt Bambi? Ha, it's 1) Fun 2) educational for the kiddies and 3) Bambi is tasty.... and provides lots of meat for the winter. Much cheaper than buying 300 or so pounds of beef, let me tell you. Back in ye olde days, when mankind was pure and not polluting Mother Gaia with things like engines for tractors to pull plows, most people relied on Bambi to survive and not die. Or they went after Flipper in the seas, smoked and ate him all winter long.

Leftists like you of course want us to go back to those halycon days of no power, no heat, no food. So you have to accept us munching on Bambi.

Besides, if I don't shoot Bambi, he'll die with a big tattoo of "Tesla" embedded in his fur somewhere, because leftist Tesla can't make a car that won't hit something in the road.

Trumpit म्हणाले...

@Vance,

Thanks for confirming my worst suspicions. You are most definitely 100% evil. That is why I believe in cannibalism. I hope some starving Yemeni children boil you in a pot with potatoes and carrots, and eat YOU.

Thursday’s blast features a story by columnist Max Boot entitled “Vote against all Republicans. Every single one.”

Not an in-kind contribution to Democrats, no sir! He promises to stop right after the election is over! But it has nothing to do with elections, Bezos' honor!

Democrats must be really chuffed to have a war mongering neocon like Max Boot joining their ranks! I say it was the "We came! We saw! He died!" quote that gave him a chubby for the Democrats. That and they are the party of the rich.

Mark Souder, a former Republican congressman from Indiana wrote in Howey Politics Indiana:

A modern-day Rip Van Winkle, who just woke up and started to watch ads on television for the Indiana Senate race, might fairly conclude that Hoosiers are obsessing over how to choose between a candidate who had stock in a company run by his brother that had a plant in Mexico and one whose auto supply company sold parts made in China. Will this nonsense never end? Joe Donnelly’s brother moved a plant to Mexico, like many other such plants. Joe earned some income and then sold his stock. It was a small percentage of his income. Mike Braun’s company sold auto parts made in China and Mexico. Like every other auto parts store. And some of the boxes were even labeled in Chinese and English!

If grassroots matter at all, Donnelly wins. He’s likable. Not fake likable; Joe is actually likable. He chose to be a Democrat and I chose to be a Republican, but we were good friends, genuine friends. Donnelly has desperately tried to localize, Hoosierize, this race for the simple reason that if he can, he will win. People like Joe, I like Joe. People believe Joe has fought for Hoosiers; I believe, and know, that he has.

Many people don’t feel Braun is likable. I don’t know him so I don’t know. In his avoidance of grassroots campaigning, Braun appears to be like many successful businessmen, who know how to run a business but they don’t especially like regular people. If this election is determined by who seems most likable, Donnelly wins in a walk.

The real reason this remains a toss-up, though, is spelled with five letters, T-R-U-M-P.. But every day, every hour, nearly every minute, this president manages to dominate all news. If this race nationalizes, [turns to Senate headcounts] Braun wins.

The really strange thing that happened in Indiana is that the Republican administration followed Wisconsin’s move to control the state labor unions – even to the point where Democrats moved to Illinois to keep the legislature from gaining attendance quorums. Then Republicans, led by Mike Pence, followed up by adopting Indiana’s Right to Work law in 2014.

With Trump’s lock on the Indiana Republican Party, conservatism vanished and we now falsely adopted union thinking from Trump to denounce trade with other countries. So I will vote for Mexico Joe.

Wilbur म्हणाले...

My next door neighbor is running for school board in a huge county with a huge budget. Nice guy, we get along with no problems.

But I wouldn't for him if my life depended on it. He's a union member, backed to the hilt by the teachers union and other unions. His platform is essentially that teachers are woefully underpaid and that's what's wrong with our schools. He of course supports the huge tax increase on the ballot earmarked for the schools. The incumbent is an incompetent older woman, so he'll probably win.

A bit off topic, but since the AG is mentioned...have you ventured an opinion on Making of a Murderer, Part 2? In the documentary (and it could certainly be a one sided view) I found the Wisconsin criminal justice system to be rather appalling in its operation. It's probably similar to other state criminal justice systems, a depressing fact if indeed true.
