Like: "Scott Walker and Tony Evers spar over immigration, taxes, health care in first debate" (Milwaukee State Journal)("Walker argued the state's economy, its workforce and its schools benefit when he is in charge.... Evers argued the state has been divided and critically underfunded over the last eight years"), and "Scott Walker, Tony Evers draw stark contrasts, repeat familiar points in first debate" (Capital Times)("Walker made the case that, under his leadership, the state has reached an age of prosperity and that voters should give him a chance to serve a third four-year term.... Evers argued that Walker is a career politician who has driven Wisconsin into an age of polarization and partisan rancor by putting his political interests ahead of the state's.")
But the Brewers were fighting the last of 2 games that will get them to the World Series. At least Scott Walker knew the Wisconsin priorities:
Best part of debate: I got off stage and found out @Brewers are up 5-1!!!! pic.twitter.com/YVaqsF0FWm— Scott Walker (@ScottWalker) October 20, 2018
Compare Tony Evers:
What a great way to end debate night. Let’s go @Brewers! #OurCrewOurOctober— Tony Evers (@Tony4WI) October 20, 2018
Advantage: Walker.
Of course, the Brewers went on to win game 6, 7 to 2: "Energy from fans spurs the Brewers to their first Game 7 since the World Series in 1982." Game 7, tonight, is another home game:

I am going to feel bad if our Red Sox have to be the one to send Cinderella home, but I am rooting for the Brewers in this series anyways. The heart wants what it wants.

Good game! Well done, Brewers. And, IIRC, Machado was 0-fer.
What is the criteria for designating a team, Cinderella?
Why were Evers and Walker wearing the same suit?
Marc Carig at The Athletic has the story behind the Brewer's ball-in-glove logo, pictured on Scott Walker's bitmoji.
Unfortunately, the story is paywalled, but the gist is this. In 1977 the Brewers held a contest to determine their new logo.
The winner of the contest, and a $2,000 prize was Thomas L. Meindel, a 29-year-old student in Art Instruction at the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire.
Meindel wasn’t a fan of baseball. But he was intrigued by the challenge. In various interviews through the years, he described sketching the idea during a psychology class. His breakthrough came when he mashed together an M and a B. To him, it looked like a baseball glove. When he returned home that day, he presented the design to his wife.
“Do you see anything different about the logo?” he asked.
Immediately, she picked up on the symbolism. “He came home with this design, this logo, and I went ‘oh my God, don’t change a thing, send it in right now,” Elaine Meindel said. “That was perfect, the best logo I ever saw.”
Here's an older, non-paywalled story at Uni-Watch by Chance Michael's.
Click through to see a picture of Meindel from the time as well as the awesome Beer Barrel Man logo that preceded the ball in glove logo.
It’s amazing just how corny all stratas of society can get over sports.
It happens everywhere, every single time. It’s the trickle down economics of human behavior!
Love how Machado went 0 for 4! He was not a popular man in Miller Park.
Beer Barrel Man has his own Wikipedia page. Some great illustrations at the link. Best mascot ever.

Well they did win their last 8 games in the regular season to tie the Cubs for the division. And then beat them in game 163.

Berniw was okay when he slid down into a mug of beer after a homer. It made sense. Brewers homer, Bernie celebrates with a beer. Now he just slides down to a lower level. No beer. Stupid.
I haven't watched BB for a long time. The rest of the family aren't sports fans - and will only tolerate the World Cup & the occasional Football and NBA game.
I has was struck at how S-L-O-W the game has gotten. Every pitch seemed to take 15 seconds or longer. Endless shots of the dugout and people watching.
They need to speed things up. No reason why a BB game should last longer than 2 hours.
”Evers argued that Walker is a career politician who has driven Wisconsin into an age of polarization and partisan rancor...”
Democrats act like children when the other side wins, and then argue the other side made them do it.
Did I mention they act like children?
I wonder if Evers has been to a Brewers game this year? Has Walker?
I think it more likely that Walker has gone. He probably is far better acquainted with the team members than Evers.
So yes, Advantage Walker, bigly, with his pro-Brewers tweet!
Walker came. across as a puppet and Evers seems more folksy and real. By the way Walker looked down so often after his record took a hit, I think he knows time to send out the resume to conservative think tanks.
So, Walker was the one who bussed all those Chicago union thugs into Wisconsin. Whodathunk!
Why R/V would !

I did make sure the World Series was mentioned in "Interlude_The Black Whole (Between Two Oceans)" didn't I?
I had to: It fit the UnMastered series' thesis too well.
I was at the game last night. It was magical - and incredibly, ear-splittingly loud. The boos for Machado shook the place.
Whatever happens tonight, the first inning of Game 6 will be one of my most cherished sports memories.
I've been saying all season I think this is the AL's year as far as the WS goes and objectively, I see no reason to revise my opinion, particularly after watching Boston whup the Yankees in the playoffs. I don't see any holes in the Red Sox lineup or pitching staff.
But the beauty of baseball is its' unpredictability. I also didn't think the Crew would win the Division or be one game away from winning the pennant. Go Brewers! I'll be delighted if you prove me wrong!

Let's go Dodgers!
Whatever happens tonight, the first inning of Game 6 will be one of my most cherished sports memories.
All I caught was the bottom of the first and saw that the Dodgers had gotten a run in the top of the inning.
When it was two outs and two on, I think everybody knew that if the Brewers finished the inning with no runs scored, the game and the series was over.
Whoever knocked those two in is the hero.
Neither has a chance against the sox
Whichever team wins tonight will have about a 4 in 10 chance of beating the Red Sox, and almost all of that advantage to the Red Sox is due to the home field advantage they will have. In baseball, there just isn't that wide a difference in the quality of the two teams in the World Series- the difference in record is almost all due to the difference in the qualities of the two leagues overall, which this year saw a lot of truly woeful teams in the AL- the NL is much more balanced top to bottom and has been for a couple of seasons now.
In any case- Go Brewers! As a Reds fan growing up in the 70s and 80s, the Dodgers were enemy #1.
Best game eva! Sadly I miscalculated and planned my return to work for today. Sitting in Ohare waiting to commute and BIL gets my ticket with my wife..
Soo jealous
Magical last night.
I'm not one to watch or care about political debates between candidates for office...but I'd go for that any time over any baseball, football, basketball or other team sport broadcast. Even if I had no idea who the candidates were.
Walker's bitmoji is comically bad, he looks like a little boy. Some things are not for serious adults.
