Said Kyrsten Sinema back in 2006. She's now the Democratic Party's nominee to represent Arizona in the U.S. Senate.
I haven't been following the Sinema drama, so anything about her is news to me. But I was motivated to read her Wikipedia page because I wanted to know if she had children. If you stay home with children, you probably don't see yourself as "leeching." Some facts:
Sinema married, and later divorced, her BYU classmate Blake Dain. So, her idea of doing difficult things is way beyond the average person's. But if you're running for office, it's not a good idea to reveal to ordinary people that you basically think they're not working hard enough. The normal bullshit is to butter them up continually, calling them "hard-working" and blaming government and corporations for their insufficiently affluent condition. But Sinema wants to call bullshit on that bullshit. Okay, Sinema. It won't get you into the Senate, I don't think, but it's kind of wonderful, shouted from the top of Mount Kilamanjaro.
On November 17, 2013, Sinema completed an Ironman Triathlon in a little more than 15 hours. Sinema was the second active member of Congress—behind Senator Jeff Merkley—to finish a long distance triathlon, and the first to complete an Ironman-branded race. On December 25, 2013, Sinema summited Mount Kilimanjaro.
Sinema is now the only openly non-theist or atheist member of Congress, although she herself has rejected such labels. She is also the first openly bisexual member of Congress.Okay with me.

I have never liked the modifier 'openly' in this context of one's sexuality. 'Openly' Gay.
What does it add? Why not just say 'bisexual' or 'gay'? Why does it have to be modified? I can see in the past when such activity was hidden. But these days? It's not a big deal to me (or to many many youngsters) how people interact in the privacy of their own homes.
Those physical sporting events are hard in a different way than maintaining relationships. Maintaining relationships - with spouses, with children - despite the disappointments and boredom and conflicts - is also very difficult. She shouldn't disparage women who commit to taking on that sacrifice. It's a lifetime challenge, not some several months challenge that training for sports is.
Sinema is now the only openly non-theist or atheist member of Congress, although she herself has rejected such labels.
What does that mean? If she rejects being non-theosy or atheist, then why do they say she is? That makes no sense
While I disagree with her politics, I do admire her forthrightness. She was at a fundraiser on the east coast and called Arizona the "meth lab of democracy."
In the speech, Sinema recounts how she was taught at a young age that Arizona was known for "five Cs: cattle, copper, citrus, cotton and climate."
"But I would add a sixth 'C,'" added Sinema, then an Arizona state senator. "It's called crazy."
She certainly talks openly.
Shouldn’t her stated platform matter most, how deeply she’s thought about her ideas and what their consequences might be to those they’ll affect most (especially the voters of Arizona)?
"okay with me" - par on that hole for our valueless blogger Ann.Actually she is boasting of her non-discriminatory creds. Keeps her in good stead with her neighbors and fellow elites.
It a rational world Sinema would have never reached the party's nomination. Now she'll be lucky to garner more than 40% of the vote.
It looks like the Dems threw away a perfectly winnable Senate race. Hate is a powerful emotion.
Women should be men is feminism?
Sinema suffers from toxic masculinity.
"Openly Bi-sexual" sounds like a better vote-getter than Lesbian.
It's a bit early in the Mountain Standard Time zone for our Arizona contingent to chime in.
Sounds like she has the women's vote sewed up.
Atheist Lesbian who calls stay at home moms "Leeches" and her own state "crazy" wants your vote.
She's running in the wrong state. She'd get 65% of the vote in Mass or Calf.
Bisexual, bi-theist .... can’t this woman make up her mind?
Only one non-theist/atheist in Congress?! Surprising.
In most Blue states you only have to do two things:
1) Keep the graft flowing
2) Vote for Gay Marriage and Abortion
and you have a life time job.
Openly bisexual, in my experience, equals celibate or occasional lucky nights out at the bar or the sex club.
At least that was the outcome for the people I knew in NYC or Woodstock who declared themselves "open."
Finding somebody to agree to be openly bisexual is more difficult than you might anticipate. In fact, you need 2 or 3 other somebodies for this to work to provide you with a consistent sex life.
So, it's a bang up lifestyle theoretically, but pretty damned lonely in reality.
She's running herself ragged to remain always sexually available, and probably striking out.
Nice to know you're an expert on Lesbianism Shouting T.
How did you acquire that knowledge?
Sinema is now the only openly non-theist or atheist member of Congress, although she herself has rejected such labels.
Translation: I want all the good bits of being an atheist with my 'woke' constituents, but I don't want any of the negatives of being a godless heathen.
Be interested in seeing her get to Kilimanjaro without the aid of the vast numbers of normals who just show up to work every day. "I am privileged, hear me roar!"
I thought whatever arrangement two people- heterosexual or not, legally married or not, wanted to make for raising their children and maintaining their home was nobody else's business. Isn't that one of the tenets of feminism?
Bisexual, sure. She just says that because first lesbian was already taken by our moron junior Senator Tammy "Wonder Woman!" Baldwin.
Chris N said: "Shouldn’t her stated platform matter most, how deeply she’s thought about her ideas and what their consequences might be to those they’ll affect most (especially the voters of Arizona)?"
No, you shouldn't ally yourself with people who are contemptuous of you, no matter how much they say they agree with you today.
And if she’s a woman who chooses not to maintain a relationship with a man, and desires women at least as much as men, and she makes life choices including, likely, her political platform (based on how publicly disagreeable she finds the idea of stay at home motherhood), wouldn’t you want that information as a voter?
Garner!
I know you did that on purpose.
Sounds like she may be having fun. I'd have to hunt down campaign videos to see if she looks like she's having fun. But it sounds like she might be. if you're going to campaign, you might as well put it all on the table.
Why not just elect a man.
Men are even better at being men than a woman is.
It isn't her sexual identity that is the problem, but her statements that would worry me if I lived in Arizona. Taxes? Immigration? What is her opinion on just those two topics? She probably doesn't have one on any topic.
The advantage of electing a woman is that she makes women feel good about themselves. The important thing structurally is that she vote like a man.
Otherwise it's fucked up.
Rory, I’m mostly with you there. This lady probably ain’t happy with herself, and thus a lot of people in the world. Go build your own life and have something to protect, not take away from others on a crusade.
You might find if you have kids, you really are thankful for the quality of mothers in your immediate vicinity.
Don’t denigrate women you don’t want to be like, and if you want to compete with men do it with some respect and gratitude and find your place in the world before you want to make rules for others.
She seems to be far better at defeating things than she is at winning humans.
To wit, Mt. Kilimanjaro won't take care of you when the Creepy Crudes hit you suddenly and leave you wanting to die.
But I suppose she can hire an aid to do that, but better hurry because he gets off at 5 p.m.
While I am a strong proponent of improving oneself and rejoicing in great things, I can celebrate her accomplishments while still thinking she's kind of a shitty human being: more worked out about her one greatness than in being able to keep a relationship.
And at the end of the day, she gets to choose what is more important to her: the Mountains she wants to conquer...or people.
Is that what you want as a representative?
I'm not sure I'd like to elect a woman who is filled with contempt towards, and doesn't appreciate the work -- yes, work -- done by people like my wife, my sister, my Mom....
But I don't live in Arizona. I get to choose between two women on the ballot here for Senator. I wonder what the perspective Senator from AZ thinks of these two women?
Is the Democrat establishment too afraid to challenge these terrible candidates? Our are these the Democrat establishment?
Unless of course you’ve gone down the rabbit hole of resentment, victimhood and non-scalable universals believed in often at the religious level and politicized ((Our Lady Of The Global Village...))
I’d really much rather Sinema go find stuff that matters more personally to her than politics and what other people do.
Individual character matters more than group identity and the need to signal one’s tolerance/solidarity with a group.
If Sinema wins I'll have to move. Again. :-( Only someone who has never raised children would think it's not hard work. She might get votes from the liberal Tucson crowd whom she represents but not too likely to win the rest of the state, where the military and family values are highly regarded.
Michael K, you'd better get out the R vote in your district!!!
I asked a feminist friend what she's doing Friday night.
"We're having Girl's Night at my place."
"Doing what?"
"Playing cards and smoking cigars."
"So, feminism = imitating male stereotypes?"
True story.
Derek Kite asks: Our[sic] are these the Democrat establishment?
'Fraid so! She represents the new face of the Democratic Party. As if the old face wasn't bad enough!
"It's a bit early in the Mountain Standard Time zone for our Arizona contingent to chime in."
*waves* Good morning!
Her disdain for SAHM is just regular Leftie ops. It's her disdain for her actual state when she goes and talks to others that bothers me. Why do you want to represent a state (and think others in that state will vote for you) that you constantly bad mouth?
And all this virtue signaling about AZ makes her sound mentally 12 yrs old.
Um, the presumption in her comment was that stay-at-home women are leeching, and she was careful not to mention the existence, let alone the care of, children. But to be fairThat didn't occur to Professor Althouse either.
And BTW, among the climbing crowd, Kilimanjaro is considered a piece of cake.
When leftist feminists say they support the decisions and the life choices of women they are lying.
Leftist feminists are actually just marxists using the cover of "feminism" to advance their marxist beliefs.
Leftist environmentalists are no different.
Leftist "anything-ism" is simply marxism dressed up to fool you. Because marxists cannot be open about the hellscape they intend to inflict upon us, for obvious reasons.
The big mistake the lefties made was thinking the results of 2008 were permanent so the masks could be dropped with no significant political penalty to be paid. And we see how big of a mistake that was, dont we?
why is she a Democrat nominee? She goes to a different continent to climb a mountain?
Climate change is REAL. No one but an evil denier would be so frivolous. We all have to DO something and sacrifice. STOP the horrible consumptive American way.
She needs to explain her hypocrisy or be cast out of the Party. If she is ok climbing mountains in Africa, she can't say shit about other people's driving to work.
Blogger Chris N said...
Shouldn’t her stated platform matter most,
Well, if her stated platform is a lie, does that count ? She sounds so moderate these days, she could be a Republican, except we know she isn't.
The local Tucson newspaper, endorsed Sinema and complimented her moderation.
Kyrsten Sinema’s Arizona is more pragmatic than ideological, unafraid to change, concerned about health-care affordability and access, values veterans, supports local law enforcement assisting federal immigration authorities, and is inclined to work together rather than draw battle lines.
The Arizona Daily Star editorial board supports Kyrsten Sinema’s approach to Arizona and endorses her in the race for U.S. Senate.
The local establishment is firmly left wing, anchored by the university.
So she wants to go to Washington to leech off all of us. I prefer civic leaders who know how to inify and build, over those who only know how to disasemble and divide. It is all rooted in pride. “Me over you. Us over them. I’m better than others.” That’s not leadership. That’s hubris.
Are we supposed to be impressed that Sinema completed an Ironman? I remember when Magnum PI did one, just to help solve a case he was on. I bet he took a lot less than 15 hours too!
I frankly don't get the openly bisexual thing. Does that mean she has sex with a man or a woman depending on how she feels that day?
“Me over you. Us over them. I’m better than others.” That’s not leadership. That’s hubris.
It calls to mind I'm With Her. As in, she's better than I, and will help me. Not "How can we both get somewhere better" which I think aligned with Trump's message.
I was a stay home mom. My husband's cousin is twenty years younger than my husband and I. At one point about ten years ago she called me because she was working on an assignment for a women's studies course. She wanted to know why I wasn't working (I was an attorney). I told her:
I chose to have sex
I chose not to use birth control
I chose not to get an abortion
I chose not to put my son up for adoption
At some point you have to take responsibility for all of those "I's" and put your child first.
For our family it was best for me to stay home - so I did. For me it was the best decision ever.
Interesting the double standard of the liberals and the media.
We are not allowed to criticize her bisexual/lesbian life style. Not that I want to criticize. It isn't any of my business, unless she is hitting on me :-)
BUT....it is perfectly fine to criticize and diminish the choices of women who decide to become stay at home wives, mothers, homemakers. Again. None of my business.
The hypocrisy......it burns
And all this virtue signaling about AZ makes her sound mentally 12 yrs old.
She knows her Democrat voters. We went on a home tour a year ago and, when looking at beautiful old Tucson homes from the 1930s, we smiled at the "Black Lives Matter" signs in front of lily white professors' homes.
CORRECTION: Sinema's district is in the Mesa area, not Tucson. She was born in Tucson.
Give me a woman who doesn’t feel obliged to give a shit about feminism! Oh, wait, I’ve already got one!
After 9/11, while our military was fighting in Afghanistan, Sinema organized anti-war rallies. She promoted the rallies as a way to stop the US-led terror campaign. Her materials, showed illustrations of US soldiers as skeletons in uniform. Does Sinema apologize for her anti-war activism, or for comparing our men and women in uniform to blood thirsty ghouls? No! Does she say she was right, if a bit over-the-top in her rhetoric? No! She simply pretends she never did it. Oh, sure, she helped organize the rallies, but that doesn't mean she was actually against the war. Just some of the ways the war was being conducted. All she was trying do to was allow other people who were against the war a chance to have their voices heard. And that illustration US soldiers as skeletons used to promote the rallies? She wasn't the artist and she never saw it.
Right.
We're supposed to believe the same thing about all her changed positions. Don't believe what I said back then. I didn't really say it (even if there's video of me saying it). Just believe what I'm telling you now. Because, why would I be lying now?
Lots of immature, inexperienced people think that about one-income households. She's ignorant and mouthy. Many members of her generation are.
"it's not a good idea to reveal to ordinary people that you basically think they're not working hard enough. The normal bullshit is to butter them up continually, calling them "hard-working" and blaming government and corporations for their insufficiently affluent condition. But Sinema wants to call bullshit on that bullshit."
I didn't get that out of what she said. For one thing she wasn't talking about "ordinary people", she was talking about women. I didn't interpret her comment as a criticism of their work ethic. She criticized them for not living up to her standard for self-reliance, for how they choose to live, what kind of relationship they choose, for hypocrisy in calling themselves feminists if they aren't living a life-style she, who's feminism is apparently beyond question, approves of. She's entitled to her opinion, but it seems kind of judgy and self-righteous. It seems like the opinion of someone very young. I see she was 30 in 2006.
Someone could ask her what she thinks now, but since she's running for office, no one would believe her if she said she thinks differently now.
All sorts of weird unterances out of this nightmare.
Must be nice to have the kind of easy job where you have time to train for triathlons and take long vacations to exotic places.
The best job for that is Congress. She is a fucking Leech like most in Congress.
I’m happy for her ex-husband. He’s probably married to a good woman and has kids now.
I have lost touch with Arizona politics I guess. How is it possible to have a left wing koo koo bird be within spitting distance of winning a senate seat these days? I heard the state was "purple" but still.
I prefer civic leaders who know how to inify and build, over those who only know how to disasemble and divide.
The local Congressional candidate for the GOP, for whom I made some calls, and who is running for McSally's seat in the House, has never run for office and owns a series of gas stations and small businesses in Tucson. Heads the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Her opponent is a professional politician, ran against McCain for Senate and was a Congress critter from northern Arizona. She lives in Flagstaff but is "staying" at her son's apartment in Tucson until the election.
Sinema is now the only openly non-theist or atheist member of Congress, although she herself has rejected such labels. She is also the first openly bisexual member of Congress.
She rejects labels about her religious views but embraces them about her sexuality?
Or she rejects all labels, but others feel the need to properly label her for those who label themselves through their support?
but since she's running for office, no one would believe her if she said she thinks differently now.
That's exactly what she's said.
So... no kids, eh?
"Vote for me, you meth-addled leeches!" – could use some work.
Oh haha. I just looked her up and she's 42. So she's a Gen X-er but still ignorant and mouthy like a millennial. I thought she was a millennial, with some of the dumb things she's said and that tasteless Y in her name.
Also, she's a bottle blond. I feel about those like Althouse does about men in shorts. With limited exceptions, it makes women look vain and fake. Just don't do it.
Mad’man. Trump is a proven builder. I’m not in love with his ethics or his personal morality. But he has built things. And if the left weren’t so inconsolable and filled with rage, he probably would be happy to reach across the aisle on a lot of things. Like for example black incarceration for stupid “3 strikes you’re out” laws.
Interesting how the mass entry of women in the workplace was followed by the domestic lifestyle brands. People like Martha Stewart defined a new category that taught (mostly women) the joys and comforts of cooking, gardening, sewing, and crafting. Food Network and HGTV became successful media companies.
The Diane Keaton comedy Baby Boom, about a powerful Manhattan ad executive who finds fulfillment through an adopted child and a less fast paced lifestyle, came out over 30 years ago. The usual suspects were full of contempt:
Not quite a decade later, ''Baby Boom'' offered the perfect antithesis of ''An Unmarried Woman.'' Diane Keaton neatly reversed Jill Clayburgh's trajectory, abandoning a high-powered Manhattan career for the joys of life in Vermont with a baby and Sam Shepard. What happened, and where were we looking when it did?
Then again, I could probably fill a book with the dumb stuff I said twelve years ago. She should probably say, "That was a stupid and ignorant thing to say, and I can see that now. Let's talk about my plans for Arizona."
She can't say she's a NewAger, so non-theist will have to do - which doesn't help in politics, last time I checked.
Come on, she's gotten in touch with her "male pole" (as my wife's "spiritual guide" used to say) and, as all NewAgers do, became an actual dick.
If, in this election, she gets her ass kicked ("like a man") we should all applaud.
Crazy leftwing lunatic.
She just told every stay at home mom that she hates them.
Remember when the left went ape shit over some words about "target and cross-hairs" on Palin's webpage? And then they accused Palin of murder? Behold the asshole left.
Now - behold the asshole hypocrite left
I don't like giving power to the type of person who thinks everybody else should live like them.
It's none of Sinema's business how another woman lives her life.
Would it not be feminist for a woman, who has chosen to live with a man and be supported by him for no other reason than that is what she wants to do, to tell Kristen Sinema to fuck off?
McSally recently debated Sinema and her tag team partner, the PBS moderator. At the end, Martha accused her of treason for stating that it was OK if Americans joined the Taliban. McSally was flying combat missions in Afghanistan when Sinema made those public comments.
The PBS moderator tried to shut McSally down and Sinema refused to answer. She smiled and looked very smug.
Sinema accuses McSally of running shameful ads (mostly clips of Sinema rejecting added criminal penalties for guys using child prostitutes) being a liar, hypocrite and actress for "failing to protect Medicare." There is more about Sinema's loony leftism coming out every day.
As a new AZ resident, I will learn more about the state if Sinema even gets 45% of the vote.
In this case, I must agree with Crack.
She's a New Ager.
I wonder how she’ll vote on welfare reform. Should women have children and stay home on the government dole? Or is that also leeching, in her mind? Is leeching OK if the payor is an anonymous taxpayer, but not OK if the payor is a loved one. Are her proclivities OK because they involve consenting adults, but the transfer of funds, goods, or services between two consenting married adults not OK?
Women should be men is feminism?
And even worse, they're trying to turn men into women at the same time.
11 Freakiest Things About Arizona Senate Candidate Kyrsten Sinema
1. She once depicted American servicemen as scary skeletons exporting “terror” abroad on a flyer protesting the Iraq War:
2. Defended men who solicit underage prostitutes
3. Protested the Iraq War in a tutu
4. Once described herself as a “Prada socialist”
5. Called Arizona the “crazy” state and the “meth lab of democracy”
6. Said she didn’t care if a constituent went and fought for the Taliban
7. Chummy with anarchists
Said it was inappropriate to criticize anarchist property destruction. Also, she worked with a local anarchist group that helped organize a rally.
8. Promoted events at Arizona State University featuring the execrable Lynn Stewart, a lawyer convicted of aiding an Islamist terror organization and its leader
9. Falsely claimed to be Latino (Allegedly)
10. Hosted a radio show on Air America Phoenix with a 9/11 truther
11. Used to hang out with witches!
*#4 is my personal fav. After she steals your stuff, she's going shopping.*

She is leading in a poll, but no info that I see about details.
600 people interviewed.

And never never let whoever I'm with forget they're whichever they are.
The advantage of electing a woman is that she makes women feel good about themselves. The important thing structurally is that she vote like a man.
No, she votes Democrat, so that blows that theory out of the water.
Smart men don't let men vote Democrat.
Check out Instapundit.
It links to an editorial cartoon in a major Arizona newspaper that shows Sinema shooting down a plane labelled "low level attacks" with a Stinger missile.
McSally flew the A-10 during the initial war against the Taliban. Sinema was protesting in a pink tutu and claiming it was OK for Americans to join the Taliban.
Crack said: she's gotten in touch with her "male pole" (as my wife's "spiritual guide" used to say) and, as all NewAgers do, became an actual dick.
That made me laugh.
New age people are just crazy.
600 people interviewed.
All willing poll-takers. People who apparently don't mind answering questions about their income or their religious views. The kinds of people who publish their life stories on FB.
According to Tanzania records, over 16,000 people summited Kilimanjaro last year, so it’s not as though Sinema accomplished a unique and truly challenging feat. If you think about it (thought not being one of Sinema’s strong points, it appears), what summiting Kilimanjaro demonstrates is her wealth and privilege. She had the funds to fly to Africa, pay for permits and a guide, etc. And of course no kids to encumber her.
New age people are just crazy.
Not just crazy but the most self-absorbed people I know.
And BTW, among the climbing crowd, Kilimanjaro is considered a piece of cake.
"The fastest ascent-descent has been recorded by the Swiss-Ecuadorian mountain guide Karl Egloff (born 16 March 1981 in Quito), who ran to the top and back in 6 hours and 42 minutes on 13 August 2014"
Do idiots vote blonde because of her glasses?
5. Called Arizona the “crazy” state and the “meth lab of democracy”
And wants to represent our state? That's like America-hating Obama representing our country abroad. We don't need this.
On December 25, 2013, Sinema summited Mount Kilimanjaro.
Anyone happen to know the carbon footprint of a Kilimanjaro expedition?
Also, she's a bottle blond. I feel about those like Althouse does about men in shorts. With limited exceptions, it makes women look vain and fake.
Well, I took a look at her. She looks like a Weather Bunny, complete with an after market set of headlights. Cute. Likes to show off the cleavage.
How does that square with her supposed Feminism? I suppose her new tits, her bottled blonde locks, and her bisexuality, she's seeking to lock up the dumb pervert vote.
Granted, how big a segment is that of the AZ population?
I was under the mistaken impression that a congress person was supposed to represent the values and interests of those who elected her. Either Sinema or the democrats who vote for her seem to have a very different set of values than most normal people making living day to day. She mouths the democrat platitudes about health care but has no idea on how to pay for it. Except maybe paying doctors less - https://www.louderwithcrowder.com/vox-writer-american-doctors-will-just-have-to-take-a-pay-cut/
BTW, I know a pair of peak-baggers who have "climbed" Kilimanjaro. They describe it as a long boring walk up. She seems like a bucket list obsessive personality.
@MadMan, Virginia may be on the other side of the continent from Arizona, but Tammy Baldwin comes across as an empty pantsuit. Having dealt with large school bureaucracies myself, I have a great deal of admiration for Leah Vukmir.
"Sinema is now the only openly non-theist or atheist member of Congress, although she herself has rejected such labels."
She's openly atheist, but rejects the label? What?
Wikipedia is a great place to get information about, say, wave packet group velocity, or angular momentum. The thing is, any idiot who wants to can post his maunderings on wikipedia. There just aren't that many idiots who want to maunder about angular momentum. But the world is filled with idiots who want to maunder about politics.

Okay with me."
If what you mean is that you don't think it should be a crime, well, yeah. OK by MeToo. But if the only thing I knew about someone was that she was openly bisexual, I would not regard that as a plus. For one thing, it means she is already planning to cheat on anyone dumb enough to have sex with her.
Openly bisexual.

I agree, also.
"Openly Bi-sexual" sounds like a better vote-getter than Lesbian.
So you're saying I have a chance?
Hell, bud, we ALL have a chance. But it's a chance better left untaken. I don't know how far up the hot part of the crazy/hot matrix she is, but I know how far out the crazy side she landed.
I’m not picky?
I’m egalitarian?
I've met KS a few times (she would not know my name) and followed her career for last 5-10 years. While she's probably a progressive at heart, she has spent her entire time in elected office (state and federal) trying to work with republicans, be bipartisan and get things done, and she gets attacked by bat-shit-crazy progressives in AZ all the time. As I've said re Flake, if all of our Congressmen and Senators legislated like KS we would be in a much better place. I think she's going to lose in close one (but depends on turn out) and 538 has exaggerated her chances to win for weeks. If she wins she will probably be one of the best (least worst) Democratic Senators in Congress. One caveat, I think she has always belonged to the minority party when in office.
she's seeking to lock up the dumb pervert vote.
Granted, how big a segment is that of the AZ population?
Substantial in Tucson. Lots around the university. The Board of Supervisors just voted to reject a million dollar federal grant to assist in policing.
The Mayor, who lives in the downtown older section, was carjacked in front of his house last year.
So what does being openly [anything] have to do with the price of eggs?
Are openly [anything] different from normal people? These are things you ‘are’. Really, no-one cares, but making it an ‘issue’ means you are all for the us and them concept.
Sheesh, for all the talk about anti-discrimination, these people sure want to make sure that discriminatory aesthetics are the reason to be for or against someone.
While she's probably a progressive at heart, she has spent her entire time in elected office (state and federal) trying to work with republicans,
So, all those statements on tape she made about Arizona being crazy, etc, were really from her prog enemies ?
Third try - I'ma get this:
I just discovered The Cassandra Complex - of which I suffer - so it's good to have a blog that can prove I've been over certain terrain before. Here's a musing on this particular NewAge phenomena from 2010, showing NewAgers are totally into "duality", to the point where there is no point in joining anything: You're all of them.
So-so special.
The Cassandra complex is not new at all. Its an occupational illness of engineers. I lecture all new engineers about it - its not difficult to find a weakness and predict that some system will fail, but its not so easy to get someone to do something about it.
Based on the quote that leads the blog post, I think rhhardin is her speech writer.

Thanks, Virgil. I took a quick scan of Sinema's record and it looks pretty moderate.
Hawt isn't smart.
She's said a lot of very stupid and impolitic things.
So why is she held to a different standard than that of Trump? Because she has a nice rack and is AC, not DC?
Would bisexual marriage involve bigamy?

She's always (and I've never met her) impressed me as someone who tailors her rhetoric to her audience. She was bipartisan when she was in the AZ House and Senate because her district included Mesa and progressivism would be a non-starter there. If she wins and there's no blue wave, she'll fall back to the bipartisan shtick. If the blue wave occurs and she wins; she'll do her best to become the Democrat's version of Reinhard Heydrich.
Michael K said "So, all those statements on tape she made about Arizona being crazy, etc, were really from her prog enemies?" No, these are probably form her heart and will probably cause her to lose. They were kind of like BO's cling to religion and MR's 47% comments - she was talking to the crazy leftists that we have here. What I like about her is that she does not legislate like a fanatic; again, she gets routinely raked in AZ for working with Republicans. If she wins I would hope she would try to be a Dem version of Susan Collins (who I think may be the most bipatrisan of the Rep Senators). Remember - you have to win the primary; I think KM continues to have to say at least some crazy stuff to the far left so that she will get their backing.
Also - she has been ranked the 3rd most bipartisan house member. https://sinema.house.gov/latest-news/sinema-ranked-third-most-bipartisan-house-member1/
“To move from religion to secularism is not so much a loss of faith as a shift into a new set of beliefs and into a new community of faith, one that draws the lines between orthodoxy and heresy in different places.” Tim Keller
Everyone must work harder for the corrupt left- Hillary Clinton stands on top of that pile of corruption.
They want your hard work. You're a "worker" after all.
That's all you are to the left - an excuse to buy expensive outfits and live large.
NorthOfTheOneOhOne said: If blue wave occurs. . . she'll do her best to become the Democrat's version of Reinhard Heydrich.
LOL! It's because of that I am probably voting for McSally, but I do want more bi-partisans to get elected. Don't like the way things are headed.

So what you're saying is, as long as most of her colleagues are Republicans, she probably won't be able to pass all the crazy laws she'd like to. Hell, for that matter, chain her up in the closet and she won't be openly bisexual any more, either.
"She would have been a good woman ... if there had been someone there to shoot her every minute of her life".
@mockturtle, please tell me you are not going to let that woman into the US Senate.
"She'd get 65% of the vote in Mass or Calf."
Not California. She would have to sleep with the right power brokers for a while first. Or be part of a Bay Area power family.
Actually, both.
So, New York will take anyone off the streets to be Senator, so that's a better bet.
I think the deep moderate that lives in a few Democrat hearts, and I don't think it is in Sinema's, will not appear unless they get spanked in the midterms. Then, we might see Pelosi and DiFi return to a semblance of sanity.
The Kavanaugh hearings were an example of peak crazy and might just teach them a limit. Obama was a disaster to Democrats because he appealed to a lot of American's desire for an end to the race war. He lied.
He was also an empty suit, which I concluded in February 2008.
Reverend Wright and Bill Ayres were better indicators than his pants' crease.
As the Democrats swung hard left, the moderates kept dropping off as they were dragooned into positions that appealed only to the looniest of the left. Can anyone imagine Sam Nunn in the Senate today ?
I find it hard to square the circle of KS rated as moderate as a legislator and the batsh*t lectures she gives.
Look, I was always a very likely McSally vote. I liked her better than Ward (in the primary). But KS has turned me from indifference to active opposition.
Sinema will do whatever Chuck Shumer asks of her. Impeachment, judicial obstruction, voting against a wall etc. that's all that matters. Why risk the chance she may be "bi-partisan" when you have no reason to believe that will happen in the senate? It certainly won't be driven by a noobie who squeaked into office.

I didn't say it was new, but that I just found out about it. I usually see shit 10 years ahead, which is hard to prove - unless you have a blog. Now, if I say I was into NXIVM in 2007, while the public's just discovering them, I can prove it.
And it's more than finding an engineering weakness - because I've been watching us human beings - not just the messes we make.
I liked her better than Ward (in the primary).
That same poll reports that 13% of Republicans say they will vote for Sinema. That might be the NeverTrump, Never McSally GOP that caused me to quit Ricochet again. I was suspended for two days from using the term "TDS." There are your Sinema GOP voters.
Give her points for being honest about her disdain for some of her constituents. That puts her ahead of all those faux populists. Still, the beau ideal is for a politician to actually like the people they represent.......I don't understand what her religious beliefs are. That's an extremely ambiguous statement of ambivalence about doubts on the existence of the possibility of God's existence. Still, it's hard to take offense at a statement so occluded. That statement at least was politic.......The degree of difficulty in scaling that mountain does not involve the terrain, but rather those damn snow leopards.
Another point for those of you not fortunate to live in AZ. We are blessed to have had only one Dem Senator in last 50 years - Dennis Deconcini who was too liberal and replaced by the great Jon Kyl (who if our system worked should have become POTUS). Don't forget - McSally and KM are fighting to take over Flake's seat. Flake got too liberal and was going to lose the primary. If the winner of these two becomes too liberal she will be one and done.
Nothing says wise judgment in governance like endurance sports. FDR couldn’t even walk across a room unaided and you saw what a hash he made of the war.
Everything I see about Sinema involves her sneering. Usually at people she wants to govern. But it's all sneering all the time.
"That might be the NeverTrump, Never McSally GOP that caused me to quit Ricochet again."
How in the world is someone NT and NM? lol. McSally is hardly Trump strong. My Ward-supporting family is practically holding their nose to vote for her (not that they'd ever go KS).
And Ricochet, which is a great idea in theory, is a place I left pre-Trump, thankfully. What a bunch of prigs.
Arizona is slowly accumulating CA expats who flee the craziness but, like the Taxachusetts refugees, some of us vote for the same idiots that drove us out. I have watched New Hampshire, where I lived for a year, slowly drift left.
Next, it will be Texas which already has the Austin goofs. Why do they forget the reason they left ?
1. "leeching of their husbands"
Funny, I see thingies like Sinema as leeches of Western society.
2. "openly bisexual"
That means marital fidelity is thrown out of the window a priori unless want completely drops monogamy and one goes on the polygamy/polyandry tour. Which is still a step too far but no doubt the prognazis are working on it. It certainly reinforces point 1, my view of Sinema as a leech.
Mockturtle
Now only does she not think raising kids is work, she doesn’t think it worthwhile. It's shaming. Hire a nanny and do something useful!
McSally is hardly Trump strong. My Ward-supporting family is practically holding their nose to vote for her (not that they'd ever go KS).
Some of the Ricochet primitives are just contrary enough to vote for Cinema or stay home because they think McSally is a RINO. She represented a swing district like Tucson and beat Gabby Giffords' staff guy to do it.
I got into it at Ricochet a couple of years ago over evolution. I quit then and went back at the entreaties of a friend.
God damn autocorrect !
"God damn autocorrect !"
Seconded.
Michael K said: She is leading in a poll, but no info that I see about details.

The article gave very little information, so I read the actual report. Tried to find out WHO PAID for the poll - maybe I'm blind, but I couldn't find it.
So Arizona needs Sinema like a fish needs a bisexual.
"Also, she's a bottle blond. I feel about those like Althouse does about men in shorts. With limited exceptions, it makes women look vain and fake"
With her fake tits, she would fit right in, in Scottsdale.
My partner is a former model (which she gave up to get married, stay home, and have kids), and former interior designer (which she could fit around 4 kids once they hit double digits) is big on color. Her problem with bottle blondes is that their hair typically doesn't match their skin. Her mother, who liked dying her own hair, talked my partner into doing so once, kwhile growing up. They chose black, like her father's hair. Whoops. She had to wear face makeup until her own hair color grew out. Never again. When she was modeling, they were always trying to get her to do something different with her hair - lighten it, darken it, even cut it all off. Nope. She was convinced that her dark blonde hair color matched her skin. Fake tits are somewhat similar - most women with larger breasts apparently have larger shoulders to match. Apparently, she, as well as a lot of women, can detect fake breasts at a distance, even before they can see that they don't move right. And, since we are now down in AZ for the winter now, I get an earful about Sinema, with all her ads. Someone has dumped a lot of money into this race. No wonder the Dems are north of a $billion$ all ready this election cycle.
At my age (a couple months older than Ann), I noticed that I have a type, when it comes to women. Going back to my GF in HS, I figured out last week that not a single serious GF of mine ever dyed her hair (except to maybe cover gray). They were all brunettes with their own equipment, up front, except that my partner claims to be dark blonde. Nope. Maybe before her first kid. But after he was born, I think that light brown is a better description. And the rest were darker.
Bottle blondes and fake tits are maybe easy for other women to detect. But they aren't really the target. We are. My experience in HS was that maybe half the girls were blonde, esp the Italian girls with their darker skin. I liked that look. But then at graduation, I realized that a lot of dying going on, with esp those Italian girls surrounded by families where all the brothers, and the parents, had very dark hair. Whoops on my part. But I was oblivious about a lot of things back then. Probably still am.
I find interesting that law professor is not parsing language ...
* "... because they’re choosing to live that life (of raising children) *
Isn't Sinema saying feminism = choosing = means no children?
Ethics, morals and the law, especially in a Republic, are an interesting study as the conflict between them is inherent. Here's a thought test. What would happen if on a future day, the President announced, with the support of the leadership in Congress, the Supreme Court and the Department of Defense that the requirement to conduct democratic elections was over, no longer required, and that the people then serving in Congress could hold those positions forevermore. No need to lie to the people ever again! No need to follow party principles. You could be exactly who you imagine yourself to be. You can think and attempt to do whatever you like with no constraints. In this environment, how would our representatives behave? I apply this admittedly hyperbolic test to every person I vote for. My focus is on the morals of my reps as those morals impact their willingness to uphold, unto death, the principles of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Since people always lie and politicians lie more glibly, I can never be certain that my assessments are true but at least I try.
,,,,leeching off their husbands or boyfriends, and just cashing the checks is some sort of feminism ,,,
What Does that mean : she's for or against welfare state / leeches
And what, exactly, is her contribution from having summited a mountain and completed a triathlon? Purely personal and selfish stuff I would argue. And who paid for these excursions in extreme activities?

So, she's a carpet muncher, not a carpet bagger.
Stay at home momism is the exact opposite of feminism.
Does the Left in Arizona hate the returdlickin carpetbaggers from California and Washington who come in and spend too much for their homes while imposing their failed brand of trumpism on local politics?
Kate declares: McSally is hardly Trump strong. My Ward-supporting family is practically holding their nose to vote for her (not that they'd ever go KS).
Precisely. I supported Ward's campaign to the bitter end but did vote for McSally, who was anti-Trump until she realized who her statewide voters were. Arpaio got a surprising number of votes that would have helped Ward.
We moved into in a new community in Oro Valley, AZ. My gregarious fiancee has been getting to know our new neighbors.
Many are from the Tucson area, but a lot are from California, Massachusetts, New Mexico and Minnesota - all reliably blue states. It will be interesting to see how the vote breaks down by area.
This is a funny article. It appears to be one online source for the leech quote, but it attacks Sinema from the left. She's not a good water carrier for anyone it appears.
The article is from 2012. The columnist Stephen Lemons argues that if Sinema beats a pair of far-left rivals in the primary the Republicans will use her impolitic statements against her. He seems comically oblivious to the general-election problems of the far-left rivals.
"Sinema will do whatever Chuck Shumer asks of her."
Yeah, another (D) in the House is another (D) in the house, moderation or no. Are you willing to take that chance?
? Why do they forget the reason they left ?
They have not ...
They're merely choosing different people that they can openly feel morally superior about and rule over.
Big Mike pleads: @mockturtle, please tell me you are not going to let that woman into the US Senate.
I'll do what I can. I've already voted. Living in a red area [Yuma county] it's sometimes too easy for me to project my analyses to the rest of the state. Tucson and Flagstaff are very Prog/Lib and there is a lot of TDS in those areas. We'll just have to vote and pray.
Crack: "I usually see shit 10 years ahead, which is hard to prove..."
LOL
"Living in a red area [Yuma county]"
Crikey. We're neighbors.
Stay at home momism is the exact opposite of feminism.
That all depends on what your definition of feminism is. Or what the meaning of is, is :-)
Having the ability to chose your own path and the freedom to do so was one of the early tenets of feminism.
Evidently, we are no longer allowed to chose and must stay in line with the prog view of feminism and be chastised for "breaking ranks". As if all women must march in lockstep. Bah.
Kate observes: Crikey. We're neighbors.
Cool! Foothills?
It looks to me that McSally is going to win this one going away. Sinema's baggage is just getting heavier by the day.

It does appear that a lot of women who call themselves feminist regard having children as someone else's job. My suspicion is that this attitude has genetic origins, and would be heritable, if its possessors were to breed. So, I guess that's all OK.
Here in Oregon, we have a governor who is "openly bi-sexual". She rose to her position thanks to our former governor-for-life (and his consultant wife) getting caught up in a messy scandal. While she seems to be a competent administrator, she has zero vision and limited leadership capabilities and may actually lose to a Republican(!) in November. She has a peculiar affect, which to me, gives off a strange vibe. But I'm straight and conservative- so not really in her caucus.
Also I think it would help Kyrsten if she spelled her first name properly.
Tucson and Flagstaff are very Prog/Lib and there is a lot of TDS in those areas. We'll just have to vote and pray.
McSally was able to win that district, so I have hopes. I volunteered and made some calls for the CD2 candidate.
The D candidate is a carpetbagger so maybe she has a chance.
Do the right thing, AZ
I know people who do the ironman. The ironman has become so commercialized, it's embarrassing now. My neighbor completed one, and while not they are not easy, they are also not that difficult. He didn't even train.
"Cool! Foothills?"
Dude. I'll be at Fry's in about an hr. lolol.
My theory is that for most of human history, Evolution didn't care what women wanted, because they weren't going to get it anyway. Evolution was content as long as women wanted to mate with high-status men. Let the men duke it out to be high-status, while the women watch enviously from the sidelines. But duke it out we did. As a result, the conditions of existence have changed, some would say improved, to the point that women are starting to get what they want. Good and hard. And Evolution is perhaps thinking that there was a bit of an oversight in that clause of the contract, because some women are choosing marriage to high-status men without children. Time was, men would not have allowed that, but nowadays, many women have The Right To Choose. So Evolution is going to have to do a little choosing Herself. Maybe that's why the Muslims are taking over Europe.
Dude?
Howard: "Stay at home momism is the exact opposite of feminism."
Therefore, Stay at home momism is the exact opposite of marxism.
Sounds about right.
Stay at home momism is definitely something "outside the State".
No wonder the lefties despise it so.

Hmmmm, possibly, but I can't quite put my finger on it....
"Dude" -- a word used by a woman when addressing another woman in a joking manner. It's a small world, is all.
The normal bullshit is to butter them up continually, calling them "hard-working" and blaming government and corporations for their insufficiently affluent condition.
There's a reason this is the normal bullshit. In a well-functioning republic, the representatives of the people don't think they are better than those they represent, but are. In a poorly-functioning one, the opposite is true, and it happens when people either are fooled by the normal bullshit or foolishly presume that the issue the bullshit is meant to obscure is unimportant.

The Left Fascists hate and despise the Family because they aspire to replace it. "It takes a village". Meaning, "Your children belong to us". Fucking assholes. God, I hate them.
Every feminist is a potential stay-at-home-mom... there aren't enough menly mans enough to force them to stay barefoot and preggers. Women naturally want to be dominated which makes feminists masochrists and the new-age neutered male left holding his dick. No wonder Dr Savage describes feminists as "mean-faced, clipped-hair women"

Feminism means - progressive plantation for girls.
We better not catch you baking cookies.
My point exactly: Modern new-age mens like Jupiter have adopted the emotional skreetching usually reserved for soap opera divas. Don Draper knows what women want: "At a certain point, seduction is over and force is actually being requested"
Who said it? Bahgo?
They want women available for sex and taxes.
But if you do bake cookies, the left will gladly confiscate them and give them to their rightful owner. Pelosi-Clinton.
"Dude" -- a word used by a woman when addressing another woman in a joking manner. It's a small world, is all.

No crumbs for you.
Of course, the actual effect of the policies favored by the Democratic Party is to turn women into isolated, poverty-stricken wards of the State whose only role in society is breeding and raising feral humans. Why exactly this appeals to people who call themselves "feminists" is not clear, as that is certainly not the life they aspire to for themselves. I suppose it is simply a knee-jerk expression of resentment toward men. The Democrats have managed to convince them, at least at an emotional level, that what is bad for all men must be good for all women.
A dude is a cuck who play pretends at cowboy. have at it ladies

Actually we do live in a rational world.
It would be easy to predict what would happen if a socialist like Sinema had power over the economy.
1. The economy would slowly wither and die.
2. People would get mad.
3. The government would nationalize some things and buy some votes.
4. A few million dissenters are sent to prison/killed.
5. The country runs out of toilet paper.
Any rational person knows what happens when socialists get power.
It was easy to predict that lower taxes and regulation would create a booming economy and rising wages.

It is your paradigm that is irrational, not the world.

Forget it Mock. Lesbians are taking over the government. You can pray to your hearts content, but your putrid generation is history, and must be flushed down the toilet.
Denigrating women as managers of a household and raising children, characterizing women as beasts of burden or slaves, "barefoot and pregnant", and normalizing the wicked solution to secure taxable commodities, should produced progressive returns.
Sinema is a fairly typical feminist - that being an unattractive, hateful C-word.
Is transgender/bisexual a qualification for equal or "=" representation?
“Men are even better at being men than a woman is.”
You might as well have said men are better at being human. It’s beyond male centric to think women are trying to “behave like men” when they are behaving like humans. You again display your disconnect with humanity in general. I like ya, but you just are so off the mark.
Sinema ain’t dead yet Michael K. Hillary made insulting Americans central to her campaign, and look how close she came to winning. Sinema is running on the “we Democrats are slumming by being here with you, be grateful” ticket. That gets out the base!
Well, for one, Hillary had the countless masses of California Dead and Illegal to draw upon, so I think there is a distinct difference.
I mentioned it before and I will mention it again.
In the 2004 reboot of Battlestar Galactica, robots tried to make humanity extinct. Only about 50,000 people left to keep the species alive.
And yet, there was a 'special' kind of Feminist who, when up against existential destruction, had to actually STRUGGLE with the idea of making abortion illegal.
I feel that American feminists, if it meant having to give up their soy lattes and the ability to taking photos to squirt out a couple of kids, would do the robots' jobs for them.
Sinema is just one of that breed.
