... just as soon as these protesters can be cleared out of the gallery.
AND: That's it! Kavanaugh has survived the ordeal. 50-48, confirmation.
I was touched that Senator Murkowski withdrew her "no" vote in deference to Senator Daines who wanted — needed — to be present at his daughter's wedding, so that he did not need to rush back in the middle of the day to register the "yes" vote that was his to give.

Michael K. Amen to that.
In the last thread, someone mentioned Attorney Michael Avenatti falling out of favor with the left.
Democrats say Avenatti undercut their case against Kavanaugh
”... just as soon as these protesters can be cleared out of the gallery.”
I don’t know how many times during this process I’ve been struck with the same thought; “What children.”
How heavy the burden of being a free citizen of the most wealthy democratic republic in history. For some, it still isn’t enough. It’s all oppression and struggle.
Sorry, I just don’t see it, and I speak as one who’s ancestors were failed by the constitution as wielded by the then-courts and governments, and literally were run out of the U.S. because of it.

Tell us more, Quayle.

This is why I encourage Ritmo and Inga and the others to constantly speak up and say what they really think.
alan marcus linked: Democrats say Avenatti undercut their case against Kavanaugh
He under cut more than the case against Kavanaugh; he undercut his own case against Trump. Greedy fool.
Are there circle drums in the Senate Chambers?
I was a Viet Nam war protester in the early 70's (when I was draft eligible).
There were some Communists involved in the protests, but most of the protesters seemed well intentioned. It was also a great way for young men and women to meet.
I never saw anything like these screeching harridans. They seem to be having a mass group therapy moment.
Very sad!
The beauty of those protesters is that Republicans don't even have to pay them to make the Democrats look like spoiled children.
The Senate building was closed to the public today (for obvious reasons).
So, how did the protesters get into the chambers?
Turtle
Check out Missouri Executive Order 44.
You'd never know from all this Democrat generated hysteria, that Kavanuagh is a moderate conservative replacing another Moderate Conservative and that Kavanugh will vote the same way Kennedy did, 90% of the time.
We could've had this vote in August, and saved all the drama since the D's voted 48-1 against Kavanaugh - despite the 1,000 written questions, private meetings, 3 days of hearings, 100,000 documents, and endless bending over backwards to the D Minority.
If Democrats can't see that they pushed moderates like Lindsay Graham and Susan Collins too far, who represent the squishy middle, one has to wonder about their much vaunted social awareness.
Why didn't the Senate just clear the gallery? What a bunch of clowns.
Well, I’m glad that’s over. {/sarc}
@Browndog,
So, how did the protesters get into the chambers?
Yep, a good question.
It seems as if there are some senators or their staff who will willingly but the physical safety of their fellows at risk for the sake of their ideology.
This senators or staffers really do need to be tracked down & censured or fired, posthaste.
Whew! Let's thank God and move on!
Congratulations Brett!!!! Way to hang in there. Shame on DiFiChi.
On to impeachment (cough).
There's gonna be a lot of Senators seeking cameras very soon. She'll be annalyzing their words for weeks.
Watching these senators mill around reminds me that they are generally glad handing politicians who could not organize a two-car funeral much less run a business.
”Whew! Let's thank God and move on!”
Move On will never allow it.
50:48. It is done.
Watching MSLSD now. A little schadenfreude before dinner.
CNN keeps showing shots of "protesters" but not telling us they're Soros funded. And then keep shooting them with close angle in order to make 60 protesters look like a massive crowd.
It is my understanding that those in the gallery have an invitation issued by a Senator's office. I think there should be a public naming of those removed and the Senator that invited the mob.
I also agree they do their cause more harm than good.
This confirmation should have been workman like. Instead, the republicans allowed it to turn into a shitshow, and further divided the country in the name of "bi-partisanship".
On to the next soap opera.
Let 40 years of conservative hellfire reign down upon the libtards from the Supreme Court. You have turned a moderate squish hopefully into a firebreathing originalist avenger.
I picture the first day on the job, Kavanaugh walking into Justice Thomas's chambers, and Thomas pouring him a drink. They toast, and Kavanaugh quietly but firmly says "Let's burn this motherfucker to the ground."
Thomas grins.
Al Franken and Russ Feingold are demanding a recount.
The kick is up... It's good!
Kavanaugh, the DiFi Democrats and the November electorate
I just raised a tasty, tasty beer in Justice Kavanaugh's honor. Mmmmmmm, beer!
The Republicans need to stop playing the Democrats game.
The Democrats NEVER had any intention of voting Kavanaugh, no matter what. Only 1 D voted for him, the Coward Manchin, who waited till the Republicans had enough votes.
Next time, figure out who the swing R's are. Ask them what they need to vote "yes" and give them what they want and then vote. Ignore the D's.
I am so very proud of our President and McConnell who fought, fought hard, and never gave up.
The best part is that the liberals who made that clip are probably among the most butthurt people after the confirmation.
Murkowsky is trying to fend off a primary.
Let's have a toast!
I'm down for a beer, a shot and a wild party!
Maybe even a doobie.
Let's party down like we're looking to be accused of rape 35 years from now!
I picture the first day on the job, Kavanaugh walking into Justice Thomas's chambers, and Thomas pouring him a drink. They toast, and Kavanaugh quietly but firmly says "Let's burn this motherfucker to the ground."

After reading that, I can't wipe the grin off my face.

Yep.
Class move by Murkowski.
Now Daines owes her.
”I was touched that Senator Murkowski withdrew her "no" vote in deference to Senator Daines who wanted — needed — to be present at his daughter's wedding, so that he did not need to rush back in the middle of the day to register the "yes" vote that was his to give.”
If she hadn’t, wouldn’t McConnell have delayed the vote for a day or two? Did the vote have to be today?
Murkowski needs to be primaried, and if that doesn't get the job done, run as a third party.
If she can't vote for a moderate-conservative Judge, she needs to be gotten rid of. You might as well have a D in there.
Get lost, Christine !!!

Song lyrics by Harold Arlen (1905 - 1986)
Ding-Dong, the Witch Is Dead!
What happened was just this:
The wind began to switch,
The house to pitch,
And suddenly the hinges
Started to unhitch.
Just then the witch --
To satisfy an itch --
Went flying on her broomstick,
Thumbing for a hitch.
And what happened then
Was rich
The house began to pitch.
The kitchen took a slitch.
It landed on the wicked witch
In the middle of a ditch,
Which was not a healthy situation
For the wicked witch!
Let the joyous news
Be spread --
The wicked old witch,
At last, is dead!
Ding-dong, the witch is dead!
Which old witch?
The wicked witch!
Wake up,
You sleepyhead!
Rub your eyes!
Get out of bed!
Wake up!
The wicked witch is dead!
She's gone where the goblins go --
Below
Below
Below !!!
Yo-ho, let's open up
And sing and ring the bells out!
Ding-dong, the merry-oh --
Sing it high, sing it low!
Let them know --
The Wicked Witch is dead!

Sung by the Munchkins at Trump's Inauguration
"If she hadn’t, wouldn’t McConnell have delayed the vote for a day or two? Did the vote have to be today?"
Normally, as a Senatorial courtesy someone in the D party would've paired off with him. They do this as a favor all the time, since it they can miss votes too.
Murkowski wanted to pair off, because then her vote against doesn't get recorded, and she can say in 2020 or 2022, "Hey I didn't vote against him".

I think this is right. This whole thing has been ridiculous. The Ds declared their intention from the start. Next time, believe them.
Credit five people for Kavanaugh's victory in the Senate: Donald Trump, Mitch "Big Balls" McConnell, Michael Avenatti, Ronan Farrow, and Jane Mayer.
November is coming, bitches...
I was touched that Senator Murkowski withdrew her "no" vote in deference to Senator Daines who wanted — needed — to be present at his daughter's wedding, so that he did not need to rush back in the middle of the day to register the "yes" vote that was his to give.
She announced yesterday that she was going to do that since it would not affect the outcome anyway. Let her vote against Kavanaugh for the galleries and then evade responsibility for failing her party in its hour of need. Murkowski is a thoroughly corrupt politician from a thoroughly corrupt family.
Christine Blasey Ford will not pursue her allegations any further
It's almost like she realizes it wasn't BK who did it.

Smells like bipartisan spirit!
The other two need to be investigated and likely indicted. Ford was probably used and confused. Good luck convincing her, there's no mens to be rea.
Care to predict the MSM line next week?
Change the subject, or go angry women wall to wall?
There are other subjects.
Aren't we all glad we were able to hold a national intervention for CBF and now she is on the path to wellness!

On to the next soap opera.
It should not be a spinoff of the Kananaugh drama. We want something original.
It's getting to be the ides of October, you know that we are going to hear more bullshit from Mueller. Or are they going to do it Cap Weinberger/Ted Stevens style and wait until the Friday before the mid terms?
Murkowski ran as a write in candidate and won, with Democratic help. Feels like that chip was called in this week.
But the temperament! My God, the temperament!
So now that Judge Kavanaugh is confirmed - when do the trains start running and the camps go into high gear?
What is best in life, to crush the enemies, drive them before you, and hear the lamentations of their women!
Now it’s up to Trump to appoint Kavanaugh.
We had nomination. We had advise and consent. Now for the appointment.
Trump should have Kavanaugh come to the Oval Office and say: “I will only sign the commission appointing you if you agree to stop drinking. No more beer, Brett.”
@Arashi: Don't forget the thousands of fenceposts going up in Wyoming!
In the last thread, someone mentioned Attorney Michael Avenatti falling out of favor with the left.
Democrats say Avenatti undercut their case against Kavanaugh
Ya think?!?!?
Smells like bipartisan spirit!
I forgot to mention Harry Reid.
buwaya: "Change the subject, or go angry women wall to wall?"
Go angry women wall to wall until about Oct 28 when Mueller goes full Lawrence Walsh and issues his hoax report within a week of the election (after coordinating with all the MSM outlets during the weeks prior to ensure a rapid and coordinated hit campaign).
This will also be timed with the NY state prosecutors who will issue indictments of Donald Trump Jr and other officers of the Trump Foundation.
It will all get thrown out of court later of course, but it should work for the week leading up to the election.
And I'm not joking about that.
Going into 2019/2020 the Fed will continue to squeeze the economy to keep growth down regardless of the inflation levels and potentially crushing the money supply by December of 2019 to ensure the entire 2020 calendar year results in reduced growth.
The Democrats probably would have pulled their scheme off if they didn't act like assholes, didn't go into the high school yearbook foolishness and didn't bring up the absurd gang rape accusations. But they just can't stop themselves.
"In the last thread, someone mentioned Attorney Michael Avenatti falling out of favor with the left.
Democrats say Avenatti undercut their case against Kavanaugh
Ya think?!?!?"
Maybe the left is like the right. DJT won by jabbering about that black guy from Kenya who was POTUS. Why are y'all saying that the left is better than the right? Seems self defeating. From your sated POV.
Wasn't the Times just fishing around in Mr Trump's tax records? what happened to that business? They presented that story as if it was an earth-shattering event and... nothing, pft. But my bet is women women women between now and the elections, with some Mueller nonsense, too, thrown in on or about the kalends of November.
Avenatti undercut nothing. It was the embrace of Avenatti. He didn’t lob accusations in the hearings, democrat senators did. He didn’t print headlines, the press did.
Thank God, now we can move on to the U.S. Space Force.
I propose we move the Pentagon into space.
I'm not sure if this is any indication but I plan to vote in the midterms. I didn't vote for president. I didn't want Hillary to win but it looked like an oligarchy to me so I didn't. I feel very motivated to vote in the midterms however
Trump should have Kavanaugh come to the Oval Office and say: “I will only sign the commission appointing you if you agree to stop drinking. No more beer, Brett.”
Is this the bearded Trump from the old Star Trek? It must be excruciating to hang on to the last tiny detail hoping it doesn't become official.
Yes - all they need to do is NOT act batshit crazy - and they cannot even do that.
That line of grievously unattractive women wearing "survivor" tees and black tape are simultaneously hilarious and tragic.
A better display intended to provoke anger and disgust in normal people could not be bought for a billion bucks.
"I propose we move the Pentagon into space."
As long at that doesn't decrease funding for GOP funders and hometown rents (incl, of course, for those things the military says it doesn't need).
Mockturtle: “Let's ... move on.”
Hell no. The Democrats have revealed their true intentions. Time to fight, not move on. “Never let a good crisis go to waste”.
I am sure, absolutely certain, that Justice Kavanaugh will warm right up to any leftie issue that comes before the court. Something about if go after the king, you'd better succeed.
"Time to fight, not move on. “Never let a good crisis go to waste”."
Right!
More tax cuts for the job creators funded w/ deficits. One trillion-ish is fer suckers. Two trillion of borrowing a year! For the job creators.
DiFi undercut it with her nasty, scorched earth strategy throwing an obviously disturbed woman into the fire. Plus, as I said, she gave no quarter to BK, he couldn't withdraw because the stuff she threw at him had to be refuted, once she threw it, he had no way but forward. If you draw your quarry onto the killing field, and cut off his escape, you damn well better kill him, because he's got no choice but to come after you.
This is like when they fed Dan Akroyd the conehead to the beast in that movie. Brett should sing that song. Ha! We have a Justice on the SCOTUS we call by his first name!
Good luck charming this guy at cocktail parties Democrats.
Shitter doesn't believe in jobs for people who can't do computer software, work for the government, or flip hamburgers, keep that in mind.
From CNN: "Many establishment Democrats are concerned because they see me as a threat," Avenatti said.
I thought no one could equal Ritmo's neurosis and still be walking about without medical supervision.
Then came Michael Avenatti.

All women don’t have a right to be heard?
It would seem Avanetti’s crime was taking their words too seriously.

They buried the lede but it came out anyway: "Fred Trump obeys tax laws"
The leftists hate economic growth and a healthy working class.
Just watch shilo pine for 1% growth and stagnant wages.
They are especially embarrassed and dismayed that US manufacturing is returning.
Trump is making them look really stupid.
There’s a good chance Kavanaugh becomes a squish (or already is). He’s probably another Kennedy or O’Connor. Or worse, another Stevens or Souter.
Beltway Brett. We might have to dust off Ford’s claims and impeach him if he is who he probably is.
Sarah Palin can see 2022 from her house. Senator Palin, yeah, I think she would be a good Senator.
It would seem Avanetti’s crime was taking their words too seriously.
No. His crime was suborning perjury. Stormy needs to get a new lawyer. Any lawyer.

Yeah, Obammy managed 8 trillion.
The corporate tax cut is already paying for itself but you would not find that info in the papers you read.
"despite the fact that NOBODY has testified to BK ever blacking out."
BMK himself sure did get squirrely as he struggled to avoid giving a direct answer to that question.
Well, no more Roe V Wade come Monday morning, right? Our black out drunk rapist is in for life. Our lefty friends should march to Washington and hold a vigil. Or do one tonight outside the stadium in Madison. I am letting go the night Feinstein grabbed my junk in the elevator of the Stanford Court. Or maybe it was across the street at the Fairmont. Anyway it was on Nob Hill in the 80s.

I wonder what McConnell promised Collins for her Lincolnesque speech and her vote.

So, w/ three branches, what happens if we do lock-in a SCOTUS for decades that is already not representative of America and becomes much more divergent in the future?
Why bother w/ the other two branches? Seems like the empty states will prevent the impeachment route.
I guess that court packing is the go-to. Presumably you can't have a country where a 30-something percent POV gets to dictate how everybody else lives.
I dunno.
Not quite done.
Ford, Ramirez, and that other woman needs to be closely examined for perjury and their lawyers need to be investigated for malfeasance.
Not much money...just several months of their lives and about a million dollars each in legal costs.
And I hope the Press notes their plight and wrings their hands over this 'justice' (it isn't injustice if they actually get what's coming to them)
Look...I get that our system has to be flexible enough to stand up to a last minute, out of the blue accusation. If, for example, Brett Kavanaugh had driven a car into the river and left a young woman to die, I, unlike Democrats, would think that a disqualifying event.
BUT, if you are going to start a national nightmare like this
1) be CREDIBLE and have some evidence more than 'none at all'.
2) Don't act like a last minute character assassin. Scrubbing social media...not reporting to the police or ANYONE...taking a POLYGRAPH with horrible questions
3) Do not feed into the political whims of a specific party. "Oh...I can't fly just so I can create enough space to let OTHER frivolous accusations come out'.
I believe CREDIBLE women, not strategically forgetful women like Ford and Hillary avoiding perjury traps.
As Althouse said: testimony which is too good to be true, like a Judge too good to be true, has to have a sinister motive behind it.
If she'd come out IMMEDIATELY and LOUDLY, warts and all...she'd be slightly more credible. If her family or friends had ANY idea what the Hell she was talking about, that might have helped her case.
If she'd just acted like a normal person, like Juanita Broderick, maybe there might have been something to investiga…
Say!
Althouse believes all women. Might I suggest a scalp she might want to take?
I suggest many, many televised topless protests by young coeds.
That'll show the patriarchy who is boss!
Anti-de Sitter space
You seem to dislike the system. Alas, the next nomination will be of someone who will make Kavanaugh look like Bernie Sanders. And "packing the court" does not mean what you think it means.
Having a beer in Hooters in Pinares utside San Jose wondering how the vote was going.

My location seems appropriate.
Presumably you can't have a country where a 30-something percent POV gets to dictate how everybody else lives.
We just got over that in November 2016.
Trump rally tonight too-
May have to tune in for a bit; it's been a while.
"That voice did it in for Chrissie. Baby voice no good. Bad."
I wondered if that was her real voice.
It's so psych 101 to know that that voice is often related to gals who were traumatized as kids. She musta known this. Presumably, as she learned stuff re her work, she'd try to hide such an obvious symbol of her abuse. But, what if she faked this to make fake accusations?
We know all about Kavanaugh. He entered public life in the 1990s and had a distinguished (partisan) career as a lawyer and judge. We know about his teen and college years from his testimony, Mike Judge's book about his peers, and multiple background checks & vettings by elected politicians.
In comparison we know almost nothing about Ford. Did she drink a lot in high school & college? Has she ever accused anyone else of sexual assault? How did she climb the career ladder? She has a graduate degree, what (if anything) has she published?
It is foolish to look at the empty space that is most of Ford's life & fill it with puppies and rainbows. You see what you want to see.
AdSs: "I guess that court packing is the go-to."
LOL
We will add "court packing" to the list of terms/concepts for which you are ignorant.
It's nice to win, but perhaps it's better not to have to fight the battle.
Do you think Ford lied? (I've said on this blog that I think she's delusional, but believed her delusion.) According to reports, the last FBI report didn't investigate her. Next year, wouldn't it be a good idea for the FBI to conduct a perjury investigation of Ford? If she was telling "her" truth, that can do her no harm -- no more harm than was done to Kavanaugh. If she was lying, shouldn't she be brought to justice?
I don't know if there's anything that the Senate can do about Feinstein's actions, but if the Republicans hold control after the midterm, and if Feinstein is still sitting, that issue ought to be addressed, don't you think?
Bullshit on the voice being a result of trauma. Who dreams up that hocus pocus? Psych majors? Christ almighty, are we to believe that all fry voiced Cali girls are victims of childhood abuse? Nonsense.
It would take an extraordinary amount of small-d democratic support to pack the court. If you can muster a super-majority to pack the SC, why stop there? Why not write a whole new constitution that bans the Republican party?
Diogenes of Sinope: "The Democrats probably would have pulled their scheme off if they didn't act like assholes,..."
They would have gotten away with it to if hadn't been for those meddling Trumpists!!
At last, a decent conclusion to a disgusting spectacle.
After the OJ trial, Robert Shapiro of the Dream Team admitted, "Not only did we play the race card, we dealt it from the bottom of the deck."
Congrats to DiFi and the Dems; you matched their accomplishment. You dealt the rape card, and you dealt it from the bottom of the deck.
DiFi and Shumer ought to be ashamed by such sleaze, but to feel shame you have to have a shred of decency, so that's probably out.
Mike,
I'm the first to suggest psych majors are not, at all, real science folks.
But, at least some of them do push the 'little girl' voice thing.
I, knowing this, really did wonder if Ford always spoke like she did at the hearing, or if she was acting.
What is best in life, Trump the Barbarian?
A: To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women!

I think it is possible she has broken memories of a clumsy attempt at sexual assault. Possibly they are broken because she was drunk at the time. Over the years she has built up new memories from the old, making the assault more consequential along the way.
Memories don't happen in the past, they happen now. They are assembled now, not pulled intact out of a time capsule.
“I drank beer with my friends. Almost everyone did. Sometimes I had too many beers,” he told the 21-member Senate Judiciary Committee. “Sometimes others did. I liked beer. I still like beer. But I did not drink beer to the point of blacking out, and I never sexually assaulted anyone.”
How is this "squirrelly"? Is it because he was mad because there were claims with zero evidence or corroboration that he was a gang rape ringleader and the proof was that he didn't remember it on account of he was a blackout drunk, another claim made with no evidence, or even a claim from a single witness to have seen him "blackout drunk" Is that what you mean by squirrelly?
Of course it is, because you would rather remain ignorant, "Ignorance is strength" right?
Murkowski was primaried and won a write in campaign [against the Republican nominee].
The GOPe did not support [GOP candidate] Miller in the general and the oil companies were able to get Murkowski elected.
Don't forget the rest of the story -- After she ran against their party's nominee, the Republican leadership in the Senate welcomed her with open arms as a Republican with all the privileges and committee seats given to Republican members -- all after running against the Republican Party.
GOP leadership today cannot (should not) punish Murkowski for her vote -- senators are entitled to vote their conscience -- but they certainly should not be rewarding her either (or otherwise continue to allow her to engage in extortion to the detriment of the country -- McCain is dead, and so should be such McCainism).
DiFi and Shumer ought to be ashamed by such sleaze, but to feel shame you have to have a shred of decency, so that's probably out.
And the coastals wonder why we in the middle don’t want to be ruled by them.
The media need soap opera. Where is it coming from next. Women are waiting.
"At last, a decent conclusion to a disgusting spectacle.
After the OJ trial, Robert Shapiro of the Dream Team admitted, "Not only did we play the race card, we dealt it from the bottom of the deck.""
Yes. Exactly!
This is like the OJ appeal.
But here BMK is OJ. And, the blacks are the con whites and such-predisposed.
Perfect analogy!
OJ = stable genius.
Michael Jackson supposedly talked completely normally among his friends.

Christine Blasey Ford will not pursue her allegations any further
It's almost like she realizes it wasn't BK who did it.
Did what?
Except there was actual evidence against OJ
TinV,
If that was all he said, that wouldn't be squirrely.
But: "You're asking about blackout, I don't know, have you?"
"Except there was actual evidence against OJ"
The glove didn't fit. Must acquit.
A <30% slice of the population (sort of) dictating things was usual in most European countries, and the US, through the industrial revolution. The most economically and technologically dynamic era ever. The world has been riding on that momentum ever since.
Indeed, in most of Europe it was quite a lot less than 30%. In Europe and the US, looked at systematically, the realities of power are such that everything is run by much less than 30%. 1% may be too high.
The really important point is which 30% runs things. Or which 1%.
"Michael Jackson supposedly talked completely normally among his friends."
Some folks claim that his dad (chemically) cut off his balls to keep his youthful voice.
The lefties are such nasty hateful little shits. The shrill shrieking of those harpies in the Senate gallery and the paid screamers in the elevator are characteristic of what the Dems stand for. These midterms will be a necessary spanking for their corrupt and disgusting unfair behavior.
While I was originally concerned about the squish factor given that Kavanaugh clerked for Swing Vote Kennedy, the boiling acid bath of leftie opposition has undoubtedly cooked the squish right out of the man. His opinions will read as if Scalia himself had written them. Nobody will ever convince me that revenge isn't right at the top of the list of his priorities. Interestingly enough, that alone should have disqualified him, but the lefties only have themselves to blame for that.

Buw,
I agree.
I've said many times in these threads that I can see the ride continuing for somewhere around twenty years.
But, I like to test this a bit.
Y'all can be finicky. Used to be all in favor of spending dough and lives in Iraq. Now, not so much.
I like to look for data re when light bulbs may go off.

Check out Missouri Executive Order 44.
Rescinded as illegal, or didn't you know that Quayle?
Issued in 1838. Rescinded in 1976. In force for 138 years. The U.S. started up in 1776. Slavery was abolished in 1865, 89 years. Just some historical perspective on the timeline.
Her hair.
Disheveled. Like she'd just been raped. I saw a recent picture of her, and her hair is straight, high dollar stuff-
The baby talk, confused, messy hair--all a con game. A game planned for many months by people beyond the pay grade of Diane Feinstein.
That's a reach shitter. he has just been falsely accused of not only sexual assault, but orchestrating gang rapes as a matter of course, there was no evidence for any of it. He denied the blackouts, he was being badgered
A great day for America and the rule of law.
I bet he is sworn in on Sunday and at work on Monday. There will be a big ceremony in the Rose Garden or somewhere else. Trump must celebrate!
I've actually seen the Presidential Commission for federal judges. It is large and impressive.
Peepee in enraged over his lies about Bret blacking out but has no problem with Bill Clinton, Menendez, Teddy K, Keith Ellison... etc...
All real criminals
Well -- IF Ford was totally accurate in her accusation, IF Kavanaugh is actually guilty, then Ford, her attorneys and the Dems have only themselves to blame for so many people disbelieving her.
If her attorneys and the Dems had played fair, played it on the level, enough people might have believed her -- even with the gaps -- that Kavanaugh likely would have gone down by a significant margin.
But the attorneys and Dems didn't. They instead could not resist to be the extreme ideologue, truth-does-not-matter partisans they are. And here we are.
Well FSU is taking it to the Canes. Hah! All is well! L8r
One last thought, while they are mad at the porn lawyer, nobody made the Democratic Senators run with it even though all attempts to corroborate it had failed.

I once did some really cursory research on large the ruling class in the 19th century Europe. I compared Britain and Russia. I thought Russia would have more aristocrats than Britain, as percentage of population, from reading the popular literature of the time. Russian noblemen and noblewomen seemed to be as common as modern-day Saudi Princes.
I was wrong. It was about 3% in Russia versus about 8% in Britain.
"It was about 3% in Russia versus about 8% in Britain."
Ha!
Did they have 'we are the 97%' and 'we are the 92%' fussiness?
"The lefties are such nasty hateful little shits."
Hahahaha!
Yes, they are, (if by "lefties" you mean the Dems). So unlike the sainted Republicans, who pee milk-of-human kindness!
Murkowski's action was her one moment of grace in this whole farrago.
Glad this episode is finally over. Now comes the really big fight when RBG retires.
Well maybe when RBG does die - the leftists will all commit a Jim Jones and drink the spiked cool aid, then go out to protest.
I bet he is sworn in on Sunday and at work on Monday. There will be a big ceremony in the Rose Garden or somewhere else. Trump must celebrate!
I assume so. Did the Court hear any significant case last week?
I like the joke about the guy having a terrible day when the biker dude grabs his beer and drinks it.
His last line is "My day has been so horrible, I put poison in my beer and was waiting for the capsule to dissolve.
How was your day ?"
”Did the Court hear any significant case last week?”
I was wondering the same.

No

The evidence was her testimony only.
That testimony seemed designed to take down Kavanough. Change it just a bit and Kavanaugh could be the drunk who pulled the boy off of her. Ford says that she was pulled into the room. Suppose she went in with the assaulter voluntarily? Or that she had had not one beer, but four or six?
That kind of testimony is rare. Unless she was coached.

It would be fun to go onto the DU & swear that you know for a fact that Daines' wedding story was false, and that Daines was really going back to Montana to be elevated to GRAND KLEEGLE OF THE KLU KLUX KLAN! And Republican rape enabler Murkowski knew it!
OMG!!!
Thanks, PBJ.

Perfect for Republicans at this moment!
Lewis - its Ku Klux Klan, from the Greek Kyklos, which means clan, so the Ku Klux Klan is the clan clan.
Susan Rice's son is president of the Stanford Young Republicans.
Does he know something we don't?
"You smell that? Do you smell that?... Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for twelve hours. When it was all over I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end.."
- Col. Kilgore, Apocalypse Now
A few Democrats are starting to ask themselves "Are we the baddies?"
“Now comes the really big fight when RBG retires.”
She will never retire while Trump is President. Either she dies or is incapacitated if he is to replace her.
Of course, she is totally screwed if after 8 years of Trump, Pence or Cruz becomes President
I think the person to thank for Daines ability to stay at the wedding celebration is Manchin, not Murkowski. All Murkowski's decision did was take away Flake's ability to force Daines to come back to D.C.
I don't want to give credit to Manchin, but Murkowski and most of the Senators can count votes.

Care to predict the MSM line next week?"
There will always be Russia.
I haven't been so happy about a major news event since Trump won the election.
Knowing Trump, he is going to find some way to rub the Dems' collective face in it. He is going to magnify his victory. He's going to kick them while they're down.
I suspect that Dr. Ford and her allies will soon be exposed as shameless liars. Simultaneously, more will come out exposing Russia collusion as both a hoax and a Democrat false flag operation. The Judge K hysteria covered up some major news about the dossier, etc. Trump will now focus the nation's attention on Democrat malfeasance. Amazingly, some of the same cast of characters are involved in both the election scandal and the anti-Kavanaugh accusations.
If you've heard his Kansas rally tonight, Trump's already nationalizing the Midterms. He's explicitly saying, "You cannot hand power over to these people. They are cruel and insane. How they treated Judge K is how they'll treat you if they ever have power again."
(He also joked about fighting Biden, lol.)
I have had numerous conversations with normally apolitical people about how the Dems were treating Judge K (I'm in Ohio). I've also overhead some conversations of strangers. I don't think the Dems have the slightest idea what they're in for. The anger and disgust are palpable. Do they not realize how many men have been falsely accused (in divorces, for example)? Or how many women worry about their sons or husbands being falsely accused? Hell, do they think normal people don't DRINK BEER?! You want to mock a person for his high school yearbook?
I didn't have strong opinions about Judge Kavanaugh at the beginning. He seemed like a Jeb Bush figure - intelligent and polite, but not a fighter. Now I would take a bullet for him.
As always, kudos to all the great commenters here at Althouse. You helped keep me sane the past few weeks. Here's to Victory.
"It is foolish to look at the empty space that is most of Ford's life & fill it with puppies and rainbows."
Yeah, don't forget the unicorns!
There will always be Russia.
Here's looking at you, kid.
I think the republicans knew they had the votes as early as last week. That was the deal when they agreed to Flake's asinine recommendation that the FBI get another bite at the apple to investigate a lie.
Now Kavanaugh can REALLY school Kamala Harris about "that book" she was so mystified by.
