"Sanctions also were imposed on individuals known as 'trolls' and Russian organizations that supported them in connection with the election interference."
WaPo reports, just now, in "Trump administration sanctions Russian spies, trolls over U.S. election interference, cyber attacks."

Russian humorists get it on all sides then.
I'm sure it was intentional.
Putin's got an election on Sunday. He, being a good student of Stalin, will make sure that the votes are counted by the right people. But given all the recent shenanigans in the UK, it seems like he wants to manufacture some international drama in hopes of boosting his real approval with regular Russian citizens.
I'm going to miss Bernie Bro. His coloring book meddled me into voting against my wishes.
To "sanction" means to support, justify, right? Thought so!
Trump is choosing his battles, and he is choosing not to battle against this nonsense about Russians buying ads on Facebook and Twitter.
Recently I read some Wall Street Journal articles that take this nonsense seriously. Reading such nonsense in such a newspaper is a surreal experience.
Being surrounded by such surreal propaganda gives us some taste of what life was like in Communist countries only a few decades ago.
I read the WSJ articles and thought to myself, "Do these WSJ reporters really believe this hysteria about Russian ads on Facebook and Twitter?"
I wish President Trump would mock it more than he does, but I recognize that he is not politically able to fire the idiots in his Intelligence Community who are promoting this absurd anti-Russian propaganda.
If I were President for one day, however, I would fire every "intelligence" bureaucrat who has supported this stupid hysteria in any way.
Up next: Begley's wished-for direct action. Haley warned Putin about using gas in Syria and we are in a position of strength relative to Russia in the middle east. The UN action has given Trump the opportunity to smack down both Iran and Syria while weakening Assad, a triple-two-fer.
Also, the people who wax on about Trump and Putin getting along (like the recently insane Larry Tribe) fail to ever bring up the fact we killed over 200 Russian mercenaries in Syria recently, when they made aggressive moves toward US advisers. It was such a swift and deadly attack that it shocked Russians. Some reports put the dead above 400. Up until recently Putin had been able to limit his "exposure" by using a private army (perhaps run by the same guy that had the troll farm) so that Russians were not treated to flag-draped coffins coming home to Moscow. But this huge loss of soldiers shocked his country. Now we have both Theresa May and Nikki Haley calling him out on the eve of another routine coronation for Putin.
Interesting times.

The WSJ has been worthless since Jude Wanniski left. In the 90s it became a lifestyle paper for women.
Eventually Wanniski went round the bend himself, becoming a gold bug, albeit one with fans.

I read The Master and Margarita a couple years ago and I just finished Julian Barnes' book on Shostakovitch; you're right the parallels are disturbing.

Were you on TalkShop?
I was on talkshop. Eventually Wanniski asked me to leave and I did.
I had a great argument proving that gold was no good as a monetary standard. He wasn't into math and went with the fixed polaris being the best.
He did thank me for pointing out abebooks when it was new. You could buy all the books you liked and lost.
Ha! I tangled with him a few times... Wrote him a strongly worded letter right before his (unknown to me!) death. Something about his express ticket to the Ninth Circle of Hell. His last post ...I wonder if it was a sop to eternity.
You must have been around before me, I recall no math-based args against gold.being defended by spergs when I was there. Wonder what happened to those guys... Lan Nguyen, there was a fine fellow for you. Reminds me of Buwaya.
