The highlight of watching USC is their cheerleaders. Compared to USC, everyone else is dog meat. Compared to the cheerleaders, the football team is dog meat.

I'll agree USC cheerleaders are fine... but the OSU Marching Band (saw the band halftime shows on the ESPN3 feed) makes the 'Spirit of Troy' and all other college marching bands look (and sound) like rag-tag middle school outfits.
@Mountain Maven, the reason why USC will have problems recruiting is named Matt Boermeester. Not that Matt, a former USC football player, did anything wrong — not according to his girlfriend. Someone saw the two of them having a romp and turned him into the USC Title IX office, which had him expelled. The girlfriend tried to tell them that the she and Boermeester were engaged in consensual behavior, but they were so eager to put a football player’s scalp on their trophy wall that they basically told her she needed therapy. Maven, my friend, if you think this story isn’t being carefully spread among high school football players by the coaches who recruit against USC, well ...

I believe it. The SC I attended many years ago and was a faculty member for 40 hears is no more. All it has left is the football team and they have been trying to cut the legs off that since Reggie Bush,
I think that it's a good thing that they have these less important bowls for the Northern and Western teams to play in. They earned the privilege.
And, with all due respect, the USC cheerleaders looked a little less spectacular than in years past. I hope that's not starting a trend.
Oh, and as far as the game goes, tOSU was physically superior on both lines by far. USC was turning the ball over because they were getting the hell beat out of them and the QB was lucky to come out in one piece.
Oh for the good old days of easy Rose Bowl opponents, like TCU had there in 2010. But no, UGA has to go to the Rose Bowl to play Oklahoma, a team that beat TCU twice last month.

Yawn.
Sounds like they beat them all the time.
They pretty much do.
I am for Big 10 all the way, including Harbaugh's (gag me) team.
Better athletes. Give USC another year or two to recruit then we'll see how good the coach is. It's all gladiators.
Humperdink- uggg. I don't know if I can root for Michigan.
Sounds like they beat them all the time.

Um ... until last night, USC had beaten Ohio State seven, straight times going back to 1975.
Unless that's what you meant.
Good sign for badgers tonight
FYI - the second link on the "who is Ann Althouse" page needs fixing.
"Sounds like they beat them all the time..."
Fake news..It's actually the other way around.
Before last night:
Series history: USC leads 13-9-1 and has won seven games in a row. The Trojans won the last game 18-15 in 2009 in Columbus. Ohio
"FYI - the second link on the "who is Ann Althouse" page needs fixing."
It worked for me.
Must I nudge you to get my 24-7 joke?

It goes to blog day 1. Should go to blog day 2.
Rest assured, joke gotten.
"Must I nudge you to get my 24-7 joke?"
Went right over my head.
West Coast teams don't win many national championships, they're just not very good. SC laid down for Vince Young and Texas in 2004...ugh.

Woody Hayes (OSU) punching out Charlie Bauman (Clemson). Those were the days.
Right over my head also - good one
hoping for a Big 10 sweep - Wisconsin is next
ted
Don't you love it when a company advertises 24-7 and you get voice mail.

Ahhh....yes! Very good.
The comma after "California" is the tipoff.
The SC turnovers lost the game and it has been a problem all year.
Darnold has a problem and, if he has any sense, will stay another year,
Norm Chow came with Pete Carroll and saved Carson Palmer's career with good coaching. I wonder where Chow is now ?
The SC defense payed well the whole game,
Four turnovers would defeat the German Army,
@Althouse, yes I got it. Sheesh.

Good night Huskies.
James Franklin needs to work on his in-game coaching skills.
basketball?

OK Badgers, your turn.

Yes. I missed it too. Much too subtle for me.

The Badgers will win tonight. No problem.
^^^^^ that is exactly how OSU beat PSU. Our skill matched their skill. They wore us down on O-line and D-line.

Tank need nudge.
Embarrassed.
Wah !
It was an old time thrashing. Watched the whole game because i am a proud Trojan, class of '73. Our butts got whipped but good.
No contest

Althouse wins the post -- as always -- for her temporal pun.
Go Badgers!
The Miami coach was upset at the lack of a holding call on the completed pass prior to the touchdown. Pretty clear non-call that should have been.
Badgers win!34-24 I think the Big 10 is undefeated in Bowl play. Looks like the Big 10 is back as a true power conference

Don't say that! It depresses me.
