Speaking of trucks, I wandered into the service dept of the local Ford dealer some time ago. They were doing minor engine work on a diesel. Replacing injectors. The cab of the truck had been removed and was hovering above the rest of the truck on a lift. Apparently it's more efficient to work on the engine with the cab removed. One service tech told me he can have the cab off in a little more than an hour with some assistance. If you open the hood of Ford diesel truck, you will see why.

What is fascinating and will be a big story pretty soon, is the Obama-Hezbollah-Awan connection.

This is the drug equivalent of "Fast and Furious."

Obama shut down the DEA "Cassandra" project on tracking down the Hezbollah drug and money laundering operation.

When they started getting close to the big wigs, they were too close to his Iran friends.

Hezbollah was using used car sales to launder and smuggle money. The Awan family had used car businesses and were being protected by Congressional Democrats for mysterious reasons.

The deepest part of the swamp.

The Times never disappoints. Tonight we learn that the poor hapless I.R.S. will "have to figure out how to interpret and explain a new system and put it into practice." Never mind that under the new law a great many people who previously itemized deductions will now take the standard deduction, which is massively easier to administer and audit. "If the plan is passed, I.R.S. staff members will have to write countless guidelines and regulations."

The I.R.S. has not yet been added to the Times's 100 neediest list, but that can't be far off.

@Michael K, weird that Politico, of all news sources, broke that story about Obama scotching the investigation of Hezbollah smuggling cocaine into the US. Seems like every time there’s breaking news that would reflect badly on Democrats in general and the village idiot from Hyde Park in particular, we get a dollop of made up “news.” Funny how that works.

You're right. Catastrophic Anthropogenic Climate Change seems to have progressed since the "Age of Peace". Mass immigration reform has ebbed, and the trail of tears has ebbed. The left and other anti-native factions have resumed their normal political strategy of colluding with the press (e.g. bullhorn prosecutions and witch hunts) and foreign interests (e.g. post-coup Kiev), projecting diversity (e.g. racism, sexism), political congruence or selective exclusion, female and male chauvinism, throwing American kids under the bus, etc.

Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe on Monday night reportedly postponed an appearance before the House Intelligence Committee that was scheduled for Tuesday.

The abrupt cancellation occurred following a report by Fox News that raised new questions about connections between the Justice Department and Fusion GPS, the opposition research firm behind the infamous Trump dossier.

Fox News reported that McCabe’s interview will be rescheduled for next week. The Justice Department told the network that the cancellation was due to a “routine scheduling error.”

A Congressional source told The Daily Caller that the excuse is “very hard to believe.”

A source also told Fox News that it was believed that the interview was postponed because “McCabe has an Ohr problem.”

The latest is that McCabe may retire rather than testify, These people need to be called in by subpoena.

@Mike - - - Korea riots are the most fake, but not by much. French protests are kind of phony, too, and, in the Arab world, there are a couple of places that were famous for phoniness in their riots, back in the day - although they are all criminally violent now. Not spontaneous, but still criminal. That is part of the tragedy of that part of the world. This has been known for a long time.

Phyllis Mary Piper (Phil Collins' grandmother) was born in 1876, died in 1966.

Think about it - Phil Collins could have a beautiful girlfriend in her 30s if he wanted, and his grandmother was learning to talk in the 1870s.

1870s is 15 decades ago and Phil has changed a lot in the last 2 decades. Still - I have no idea about his private life, but it is possible that if he is kind to a young woman in her 30s to whom he is attracted, and who is attracted to him, that he is following the advice of his grandmother. Who was in her 20s in the nineteenth century (I only mention Phil Collins because I recently discovered that a couple of his songs that I have heard on the radio are actually really good songs when you listen with attention - EveryDay has a great video, with the best use of an empty dream-scape apartment I have ever seen on film, and there are one or two others.)

@mike - Trump - like Reagan, and like Kennedy before him - is famous for being sort of the first of his kind and seeking out advice from others. Trump's grandparents were born a long time ago, and maybe he learned something from them. Poor Reagan had an alcoholic dad and left for California as soon as he could. We are still living with some of the mistakes of Kennedy and Reagan (Anthony Kennedy :( ; deregulation of airlines :( choosing Bush as a person worthy to be vice president :( ) Let's hope Trump gets consistently better advice

President Trump has told friends and advisers that special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation is wrapping up and Mueller will soon write a letter clearing the president of any wrongdoing, sources told CNN.

A senior White House official and other sources close to the president said that Trump’s legal team has told him that Mueller will exonerate him in the coming months, according to the network?

The Hill

Members of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team say the Russia probe will at least continue through 2018, the Washington Post reports.

Why it matters: White House lawyers had said the probe would be complete this year. When they meet with Mueller's team this week, the Post reports they hope to hear that the probe is wrapping up and shifting focus away from President Trump. As the investigation continues into the new year, tensions are building between the administration and Mueller's office.

This is not something they teach you at college and in fact there is no "course" and no "major" that really helps all that much at understanding that sort of thing. For example, when I learned that the most recent President Bush has a father who thinks - in his senile dotage, to be fair - it is funny to molest young women over their clothes while making a Victorian joke about David Copperfield, I learned something I did not know before, and some of the clueless things that the younger Bush did were more easy to understand (the younger non-VFW Bush's idiotic imposition of suicidal ROEs on the men who served in the army when he was Commander in Chief, the foolish trust in the obvious phony John Roberts, his nepotistic and self-regarding choice of his brother Jeb as a potential future candidate for the honor of being President) as the foolishness of those who were not raised right and who were raised by people who, in turn, were not raised right

Big Mike - yes I agree, the stroke probably did it (made the older Bush do embarrassing and wrong things with respect to touching young women whom he had no right to touch in that way, and to make stupid jokes about it). I am disappointed in the people who surround him who did not keep him from that type of behavior after his stroke. That being said, I am also offended that, after people like me worked hard to get him elected, he picked a cold-hearted loser like Souter for the Supreme Court, as if none of the work that we put in meant anything to him (I went to vote for him on a very cold snowy day when I would have preferred to stay home) - still , it is possibly unfair of me to bring up something he did after a stroke --- The fact that he was unfair when he had the opportunity to be unfair would be no sufficient excuse for us to be unfair now. Two wrongs do not make a right.
Do I think he raised his son well, before the stroke? No. Too much libertinism, too much pride, too little intellectual and philosophical humility. Sure there was a certain amount of decency, and, when he was very young, an impressive amount of bravery. And his son was brave too (those 1960s jet planes were death-traps, even if flown a continent away from the enemy). But, in the end, there was not enough decency, and not enough humility, and it is not the rich Bushes who suffered most from their mistakes.

It seems that Donald's grandfather, Friedrich, ran a Canadian brothel and Trump's dad, Fred Sr., discriminated against black tenants for which he was heavily fined and he was arrested while in attendance at a KKK rally in 1927. So Donald's suspect business practices follow closely in the footsteps of his sires; Donald interacted with Mafia dons, Russian mobsters in both New York and New Jersey; he scammed students at his Trump University and he ended up paying the highest fines ever demanded for money-laundering at his casinos on three separate occasions. My mother, who died earlier this year at 92, was an early supporter of Trump. My sister, a diehard Prog, did her best to 're-educate' her about Trump and I don't know whom she voted for. In WA, it wouldn't have mattered, at any rate.
