One week it's Charlie Rose, 2 weeks later it's Matt Lauer. The morning-show man left standing is George Stephanopoulos.

Do these shows need a man? A week ago, NY Magazine ran "How Will CBS Replace Charlie Rose?" which doesn't assume that a man must replace Rose. Perhaps to take that position openly is to embrace sex discrimination. Even if you think it, you shouldn't say it, especially during The Reckoning.

And yet these morning shows seem to be so much about emotionally bonding with these hosts. I'm saying that from a distance. I've never watched any of them (except in brief clips that occasionally make the news). Isn't it a question of who the viewers — mostly women? — want to wake up with? I believe that's the way these shows used to be talked about. But now, perhaps, that kind of discussion is politically incorrect.

The NY Magazine article does refer to gender at the very end, but only like this:
Letting O’Donnell and King handle the show themselves would also save money, no small thing in an age of ever-shrinking network bottom lines. Oh, and it would send a perhaps not-subtle message: Two women can do just fine anchoring a morning show themselves.

Wake up with watching on the television, and wake up with in bed.

I'm sure there is overlap, but I'll leave out my guess at the overlap size.

What are the odds The Reckoning won't lead to an over-correction? I think the odds are very poor. There will be a gross over-correction, and then another, Unheralded Reckoning that corrects the over-correction.

In the process, many careers will be ended and many new ones will be launched, putting sensitive males and righteous females on the screen. In the end, viewers may just get tired and tune in less.

George Stephanopoulos was VERY involved with the damage control for the Clinton Bimbo eruptions...

Today that would be seen as abetting a sex abuser.

The call is out for people who can repair feet of clay.

Probably check some pottery classes.

Which also alludes to the Weinstein situation, in both cases.

The morning show man left slithering is George Stephanopoulos.

As late as the 1970s the local TV station had a camera panning in a circle of clocks and thermometers. Morning television could improve by returning to that...

I did watch Today way back when -- before Good Morning America was even on (!!) -- before I left for school. I remember when Hugh Downs retired. (He's still alive!! Wow!!)

Because there are vastly more left-leaning individuals in news and entertainment, this is going to mainly be a Democrat problem. There is more than one reason to strive for diversity of politics in the workplace.

Any old robotic lefty will do.

Personally, I'm in favor of (further) reducing news shows to all Oprah, all the time. It will strip what little credibility remains.

George StepOnAllButUs will be fine as long as he continues to only push Republican scandals, and never ever makes the mistake Lauer made of disrespecting Shelob.

Then not candidate for anything Trump pointed out that some women will let celebrities do anything to them, even let them grab their pussies. Monica Lewinski and Margaret Trudeau are two prime examples.

Now, for all the celebrities that took advantage of this, the chickens are coming home to roost. Or perhaps the cocks are coming home to roost.

Pretty soon they are going to have to go back to Max Headroom as they won't be able to find any actual people to put on the air.

What happens when a virtual newscaster gropes a virtual intern?

I am LOVING!!! this.

Perhaps one day I I will grow tired of all the winning under President Trump. But that day is not today. (Or any time in the near future, I don't think)

Leftmedia women are far better suited to preside over the fatuousness of morning tv than any others. Daytime network tv is the electronic equivalent of supermarket tabloids.

It is interesting that the leftfeminist world has evidently seen the defeat of HillBilly by Trump as a signal to change the rules of advancement/retention for women by draining the male half of the swamp.

"Did I believe these female staffers were benefiting professionally from their personal relationships? Yes."

Back in grade school if you got into a fist fight, both boys were hauled to the principal's office and both were punished the same. "It takes two to fight" was what you were told. Nobody cared who started it.
Of course in grade school, the principal wasn't getting into fights on the playground himself.

Losing Rose probably lost CBS most of it's retirement age audience and losing Lauer will cost NBC the same, plus the stay at home mom demographic. Too many people still associate news gravitas with serious white men like Huntley and Brinkley, Cronkite, Murrow, etc. I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision for them. They don't like to tinker with a successful formula.

NBC did this quickly because they have known all about Laur's proclivities for 10+ years and they want to make it look like they just found out about it. Their statement makes that clear as day- for legal purposes. That is NBC's story and they will stick to it. Bet it.

And then, here is yet another example of a workplace-honcho-serial-sex-abusing (immensely powerful) Jewish gentleman getting outed. This couldn't have happened to a bigger prick, excepting Harvey.

The Reckoning should be boon for gay male TV hosts; they’re whom “The View” women love and adore anyways so it looks like win-win.

Could be that many of their predominately female viewers want a stud muffin with their morning coffee. Of course most "fuckable" guys like to fuck many different women.

I'm with the other commentators who point out that women need to be reminded that George Stephanopoulos is a particularly low form of life by coordinating the bullying and destroying of women who were in a position to accuse then-Gov. Bill Clinton of sexual harassment and sexual assault.

He may not be a serial sexual predator; he's just a fixer for one.

I doubt Maddow is above touching pussies, and I'm sure Cooper is quite the temptress.

Matt Lauer was even better at looking honest, decent and concerned than Charley Rose. If you had a sorrowful story to tell, he would nod and pause sympathetically at just the right beat. He was really good at it. He was the personification of all that was honorable and good about American men. It will be very difficult to find someone who can mime his high character.

William म्हणाले...

Charles I, right before he was beheaded, told the crowd that if they can treat men like me, your anointed king, in such a way, then think how they can treat you.......If Matt Lauer and Charley Rose can't find a way to satisfy their libidos, think of the luck you will have.

There you go. Short on cash? Hire some women. They'll practically work for free.

William म्हणाले...

In some ways I'm more sympathetic to guys like Harvey and Garrison Keillor. They needed a certain amount of coercion and power to get over. With minimal effort, Lauer and Rose could have talked some pretty girl, not in their chain of command, into a liaison.

Robert म्हणाले...

Michelle Dulak Thomson म्हणाले...

I find it difficult to believe that Stephanopoulos is any more innocent than Lauer and Rose. At least if rumors of his two-times-daily sexual proclivities are to be believed.
