I can't even make a collie stay.

"Do no harm?"

That leaves out every Democrat I've ever met.

Spread the word - Democrats CELEBRATE Americans suffering under Obamacare

ps. would you consider adding CC to your blogroll?

Yeah, the Democrats' Hippocratic Oath is to first do harm and keep doing it until you get really good at it. I think our current Dems are there.

Poor allocation of resources:

White House chief-of-staff is an important job, and no doubt General Kelly brings a lot of firepower. But in the end I think that's the problem, like hiring a general to do lieutenant's work.

Duty, honor, country - still, the WH job is beneath him.

Am I missing something or have the cries of "Russia, Russia, Russia!" gone missing over the last few days?

Whatever you do, don't mention "Fusion GPS". Seriously -- don't! Shhh!

Fabi म्हणाले...

Don't mention Debbie Whatshername Schlitz either. Don't do it! Shhh!

This is one of the nicest things I've read in a while. Reminds me of a story I read once about a couple monks vis a vis smoking.

Great church sign.

The Methodists in the South. do Christianity well. Georgia has as many predominantly Methodist areas as it has Baptist areas. The Wesley Brothers came through Georgia their first on their American missionary journey.

The Methodists were also the originators of the tradition of Camp Meetings that gave religion in America new life during the 1800s, and were also the source of the Pentacostal outbreak of early the 1900s.

Offhand, Trump picked two typical Southern Methodist men for his Cabinet: Sessions and Price.

The sudden new White House Chief of Staff brings to mind Michael Corleone sending the Consgileri Tom to Vegas to be the family lawyer because it was suddenly time that he needed a War Time Consiglieri. Then he attacked all the other families in a surprise bloodbath all the same day while he acted as his grandson's Godfather in the Baptism rite in Latin , duly renouncing Satan and all his works.

North Korea's time is up.

The job is pretty much what you make of it, and what the President will allow you to make of it. Given who the President is, Kelly might be the perfect person for the job. He has to manage Trump first. All else is secondary.

Trump definitely needs a wartime consigliere.

But the war isn't with the Norks but with the swamp creatures in Washington.

Good point. As I think more about it, yes, Kelly probably is the perfect choice - because if Trump defers to anyone, it's his generals. Which is bad news for North Korea and the rest of them, because now the spear is sharpened at both ends.

As for the White House, full metal jacket, a virtual military encampment. It may even be the end of Twitter.

Richard Epsein (podcast) in a typical Epstein anti-Trump rant.

Epstein sees process but not swamp draining. The swamp and the process overlap.

Someone here needs reminding of the chain of command in the United States. A general IS the president's lieutenant.

A re-working of Micah 6:8:
He has told you, O mortal, what is good;
and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God?

A nice sentiment. Devil's in the details, though.

This is an adaptation of John Wesley's original three rules for Methodists: Do no harm, Do good, Attend to the ordinances of God (such as, pray daily, read the Bible, attend weekly worship, engage in fasting, etc.). The third rule, for some reason, has changed into 'stay in love with God,' which sounds weird.

Christ only has two rules.

Love God

Love your neighbor as yourself

The first two ("do no harm" and "do good") are ways to love your neighbors.

"stay in love with God" is closer to Christ's commandment than "attend to the ordinances of God")

I'm an Episcopalian, though

interesting to read up on Wesley

Timotheus म्हणाले...

"Stay in love with God"?
NO. I love God. I'm not "in love" with Him.
Jesus is NOT my boyfriend.

(And it's pabulum like this that drives men and boys away from the church.)
