"The term disruption itself, emblematic of a Silicon Valley firm that uses digital chops and a fast-moving, rule-breaking approach to challenge entrenched industries has become synonymous with Uber."

Free Markets have to compete. And the market price of Dem and GOP Establishment cooperative politicians has gone way up.Capitalism destroys the less efficient, but will it destroy the loyal politicians.
The loyalty factor in DC has been built for years on a threat of destruction by FBI lies and Federal prosecutors, and wholey owned lock step Media Propaganda operations, who in turn are under the control of the Pedophile blackmail established by the CIA. They are now going insane trying to find a similar handle to use on Trump...it must be there somewhere.
Unlike most of these Silicon Vally hyper-billionaire outfits, Uber actually made my life a little better.
Given the serious loss in court with Waymo and their self driving division imploding, he has had far many high profile mistakes and lapses in morality in the last year or so. The yelling at an Uber driver and sexism were forgivable by investors, but losing to Google after stealing their self driving tech is the sort of financial loss (and setback in the rush to dominate that market) hits the bottom line investors care about.
It was a wild ride while it lasted.
Introducing the tipping is going to harm Uber greatly.
They could've had orgies with hookers in the conference rooms and it would've been better for the company than introducing a tipping option.
I just got an email that they are introducing tipping. Fuck that.
No tips, no drivers.
Uber Ober.

Not true. They already have a mechanism for increasing pay to drivers when they are scarce.

This is irrelevant. Disruption deals with the product making others products obsolete. It has nothing to do with internal function.
And while SV does fetishize ignoring HR nonsense approaching a direct subordinate for sex on her first day is not the sort of thing that is in some sort of grey area. We have to distinguish between real problems and pretend problems.
Left has tipping. That's why Uber is introducing it.
I'm glad they are. Around here, a lot of Uber drivers have signs about tipping and even little tip cups. They work tipping into the conversation. It's as uncomfortable as taxi tipping. Putting the tip on the app will help that.
It is mystery to me why Uber hasn't done an IPO yet. I imagine a great number of its investors are wondering that, too, these days.
Uber only reflects today's Silicon Valley. It was not the originator of this attitude.
The taxi industry is not "hyper-competitive". It is the exact opposite, with mile-high government-enforced barriers to entry, surrounded by a thorny thicket of inter-locking corruption and regulatory capture.
Just sayin'.
Cash tips aren't subject to income tax. Tip in cash, folks.
McCullough: not true. If you don't report what the IRS thinks is an adequate amount of tips, they will impute an amount to tax.
