Good luck running away from the Mummy wearing one of those toes. You'd stumble, and fall, then, you'd turn around and the Mummy is right behind you, even though he is dragging one of his legs.

There was a surprisingly good prosthesis made for one of Wellington's officers who lost his leg at Waterloo.

There's a photo of it at the link.

Dan Sickles lost his leg at Gettysburg and used to visit his femur at the AFIP That's the army medical museum where you can see it today.

I don't know about his prosthesis.
