"The more powerful you are, the more your actions will have an impact on people, the more responsible you are to act humbly."

"If you don’t, your power will ruin you, and you will ruin the other."

Said Pope Francis, in his TED TALK.

Because somebody has to, I will post this TED Talk parody.

Remember that "TED" in this context means "Technology, Entertainment, Design", and is the brainchild of the usual crop of SCIENCE!-y Silicon Valley oligarchs. While the T part potentially has some relevance to actual worthwhile let's-discuss-this ideas, the D part much less so, and the E not at all. I assume the pope counts as "Entertainment".

And don't even get me started on the TEDx talks, a.k.a. "people too flaky to get into TED".

... and if you are yelling "Allahu Akbar", and have an AK47 with a suicide vest on, you could possibly ruin a lot of other people.

He is so naive on some issues. Maybe he should send a team from the Vatican to negotiate with ISIS and see what results.

Pope, "" I, myself, was born in a family of migrants; my father, my grandparents, like many other Italians, left for Argentina."

I'm sure they came LEGALLY.

Why does the Left always ignore that very important fact? Illegal immigration is an important distinction.

Very, very disappointed in the political Pope.

The pope abides.

I note that Pope Francis, emulating Francis of Assisi, who visited the Sultan of Egypt during the Crusades, is making an equally fruitless venture to Cairo.

So, Uncle Ben from Spider Man is better at giving life lessons than the Pope.

Good to know.

The Bible says be humble in all things. Doesn't matter if you are rich, poor, powerful, powerless, old, young, black or white. It increases your consciousness of humanity and your Savior.

Would that humility include refraining from telling the rest of humanity how to act?

Wince म्हणाले...

Did the Pope talk about the "powerful" being "humble" during the Obama administration?

For ONCE the Pope as made sense! But will he live by his own words?

Francis not so much.

Humility isn't going to work now against jihad any more than it did in the 13th century.

Hardly.
That is pretty much his job.
It isn't helped by the course most of them have had to go through to be Pope.
Being humble is pretty tough for a Pope.
Most have spent decades as very senior clergy, Cardinals, of course, and usually Archbishops, and Bishops before that, and when they say the Catholic Church has a hierarchy they aren't kidding.

His real problem is he doesn't know who his allies are.
The man is a fashionable fellow with a tin ear.

Gahrie म्हणाले...

It's hard to be humble when you are great and surrounded by mediocrity.

But reason and secularism just might.

Maybe you should try that.

Yeah?

How's that working out for secular Europe?

Guildofcannonballs म्हणाले...

I tried reason and secularism myself and wondered why those believers believe such stupid bullshit, year after year after year etc. proved idiotically false with each new day of tides failing to rise just how stupid the shit they believed (back then) and repeated was, but all they concerned themselves with was the constant change, the actual Gestalt composition before and after the change completely irrelevant: change and change of any kind so long as it be change, was all that mattered.

They said it's because they change and adapt all the time that ergo they are better than those in a perceived stasis, as if that contains anything but wank logic*, but by then they had forgotten who they were and where they had wanted to go in order to accomplish what. The reason was the secularists got hungry and reasoned a secularists gotta eat, and tried to strong arm the pantry, oblivious to each and every single pantry, wannabe, thief proceeding them.

Sad.

*Hell even freaking Bob Dylan knows time's change, making ceterus parabus impossible.
