I dare Ryan/Priebus/Koch to try to stop Trump's Wall now. If he does, he will be removed as Speaker in a New York Second.
And the Secret Service is going to be run by General Kelly's Homeland security team. That opportunity to kill Trump using the "accidental incompetance and a crazed loner" game is closing as we speak.
It also means no more Presidential signatures to a flood of innocent sounding World Treaties surrendering American sovreignty after ratification by a UN Vote. That Flexibility is over.
Yes, and we can thank the Freedom Caucus for saving Obamacare. We can thank them for leaving Obamacare in place. It will take much more than that to save it.
The idea may have already been floated here, but did Trump push this just to humble Ryan's smug GOPe ass? It would have been so easy to just repeal ACA with a years-out effective date and reap the political benefits without the political pain. Why ramrod this turd?
With the media fully unmasked as a 24/7 agent of the Democratic Party and Trump in control of the parties who might spy and leak on him? That would be a worthy sequel.
Good Lord, I see I missed the discussion of Trump/Ryan gamesmanship. Anyway, Hillary isn't running in 2020. She'll talk about it, 'cause it's her last chance to monetize potential influence-peddling, but she isn't running. The Clinton's are finally yesterday's papers.
Trump's presser after the bill was pulled was interesting.
In sum, he learned a lot about the process; he considers all the House Republicans his friends and he knows it would have been a tough vote for many of them; Obamacare will be with us for a while, but then it will implode and then explode, although he hopes that won't happen for the sake of all Americans; the next bill dealing with Obamacare will be better; it was tough to move forward without any participation by the Democrats; as Obamacare sinks, perhaps some Democrats will come forward to help with a better solution, which then will be bipartisan.
That was just about a perfect response from a political point of view. He left so many options open that to argue against him at this point would be churlish and counter-productive. He set up Obamacare itself, the Democrats, and the Freedom Caucus to be the chumps when Obamacare fails and thousands of sick Americans are left without financial assistance. He all but sent engraved invitations to every member of the House to work on a solution for the disaster that Obamacare is and will become.
Trump is no ideologue. The left-wing Dems and the Freedom Caucus boys better look out.
He didn't sound very unhappy at his press conference--he said he was disappointed because there were a lot of things he liked in the bill--but there were also some things he didn't like. He said that we'll end up with a better solution in the end.
I'll confess I didn't study the ins and outs of this bill. But the day is coming when Obamacare completely runs out of gas--there is no one offering health insurance at any price in many states that complies with the Obamacare mandates and qualifies for the subsidies offered under the Obamacare plan. The Medicaid expansion is still on the books, costing the Federal government and most states a fortune while many doctors and hospitals refuse Medicaid patients. At that point, thousands of sick Americans will be pushed to the wall. Any bets on what comes out of that mess? My prediction: price controls, scarcity, more bureaucratic inefficiency, more subsidies, black market offerings, fraudulent reimbursement claims, wait lists, etc., etc. all concocted in a crisis atmosphere.
I think the House missed a chance to work on this before the crisis.
I was hoping Trump court nominees would be less awful than Obama's and potential Hillary nominees. At the same time i knew full well that mostly, Trump is an asshole.
What an oxymoron. Whether Trump fails or wins, you will not get Hillary. This is just more word salad to disguise Trump's sheer incompetence. Trumpies are a reflection of Trump - take the responsibility.
Fact: Trump threw in the towel on Trumpcare. Trump gave up. Trump surrendered. Fact: Trump's own side, the Republicans were ready to vote against Trumpcare. Fact: Trump did not deliver on his campaign promise on Trumpcare.
As President you never ever give up on your first major piece of legislation and you work night and day until you have your side totally behind you before the vote.
Trump gave up after a few weeks and didn't have his own side behind him.
Good, can we now get a break from your incessant harping and banal commentary? I swear you're the most annoying person I've observed since hillary imploded.
Indeed. As some people on the pro-freedom side of the blogosphere said as the election drew near, "It's a choice between a guy with no principles and a woman with only bad principles." A cartoon portrayed the election as a game of Russian Roulette, with two revolvers side to side, and the cylinders open. The gun marked Trump had three cartridges in the cylinder, and the other chambers empty. The gun marked Hillary had all chambers loaded. A grim choice, but still a choice. And every day I see the President of the United States on the nightly news, and I am NOT looking at the smug face of Queen Cacklepants, the Alinskyite Witch I breathe a little sigh of relief.
"Good, can we now get a break from your incessant harping and banal commentary? I swear you're the most annoying person I've observed since hillary imploded."
What I said about Hillary earlier is also true of Inga.
"The corrupt old crone can do nothing now but snipe from the sidelines."
Unknown: "As President you never ever give up on your first major piece of legislation and you work night and day until you have your side totally behind you before the vote."
Unknown for President! Bwahahaha!
The Queen of ad hominem tells us how it's done and designates Ryan's bill as Trump's.
"Trump is finished." What is the point of this ridiculous bullshit, Queenie? Is it some notion that wishful thinking will preclude the ultimately inevitable enforcement of Trump's immigration order? That it will forestall the indictment of the Obots leaking wiretap info to the mediaswine (and maybe Hillary as a bonus)? That it will reverse the upward trend of economic indicators under Trump? That it will stop the wall? That it will stop Nikki Haley from attacking the corruption and anti-Semitism of the UN? That it will stop the Keystone Pipeline? That it will keep Obamacare from ruining the healthcare system? Etc. Etc.
We get that you hate Trump and think you are justified in doing so. What are you accomplishing by the interminable harridan routine?
The Heritage Foundation recently documented a 68% average increase in health insurance premiums resulting from Obamacare. Trump and Republicans must juxtapose the increase against Democrat/Obama promises and hammer them relentlessly on that and other failures.
There is no need to unify on a cure for Democrat-caused problems. There is a need to unify on the finger-pointing as Democrats and their media and troll pimps do.
Social justice adventurism from South Africa to Libya to Serbia to Ukraine is unfinished. The natural resources in Russia and subjugation of her people are still the coveted prize of transnational left-wing empires.
I wish Meade was a bit more on an equal footing w/ Mrs. Meade and her sort.
He wouldn't need to write things that highlight his self-doubt as he obliquely flails and thrashes. Poor dude, hopefully some day the figurative lightbulb flickers a bit more upstairs.
Until then: Trump boss man, Hillary bossy gal = carry on Meade.
> Trump did not deliver on his campaign promise on Trumpcare. > As President you never ever give up on your first major piece of legislation and you work night and day until you have your side totally behind you before the vote.
That was Obamacare's path. You prescribe the same "neutron bomb" path for the Republicans as for your rump party Dims.
Thanks "Commander Inga" for your precarious advice.
That's about as feckless a rationalization for failure and irresponsibility as I've ever heard. Explains a lot about your side. Explains almost everything about your side. You don't actually care how well the job is done.
Just stop voting. You're no good at it. Take yourself off the presidential hiring committee. There's more to it beyond filling positions and you're obviously not up for the job.
It will now live or die on its own, without artificial life support to sustain it.
As it has since its inception. And unlike the status quo ante, which the Republicans did everything in their power to extend, defend, make excuses for, and inflict on the country.

Yes, and we can thank the Freedom Caucus for saving Obamacare.
At least he's not cementing in place the power structure for a completely corrupt one-party state, which was Obama's primary project.
Making sausage is ugly. I'll wait to pull out the scorecard until January, thank you.
If winning means no Hillary, I can't imagine ever getting tired of too much winning.
But I do hope she runs again in 2020. Literally Hillary.

Your right the Tweeter in Chief is not Hillary, but that weak drink to swallow when you consider just what you have won.

No, not a "weak drink" at all whatsoever.

I would have been content with Bernie too, but the Clinton machine in the DNC wouldn't stand for it.
DJT was honoring he Medal of Honor recipients today. That would never have happened under a President Hitlery.
Hillary meant and still means = institutionalized corruption. Beware - she's running in 4 years. Her donor pay-backs need payback.

Saving? The plan is bleeding to death, with no tourniquet in sight. Thankfully.
Can you imagine a President Hillary now?
Oso
The real question is why didn't Ryan put up for a vote the bill Obama vetoed. That bill passed the House and Senate.
"But I do hope she runs again in 2020."

The Freedom Caucus bailed him out. That bill was a disaster and they saved him from having to sign it.
It does put Ryan back in his place and allows conservatives to see the GOP leadership for what it is --- lying hypocrites.
The Freedom Caucus did bail Trump out.

The difference between a Trump failure and a Hillary success is the difference between a benign tumor and a malignant tumor.

The Democrats made me set the bar extremely low.
