"I said I wanted to get some outside stuff, and I looked out the window and saw it was getting darker and darker... There wasn’t very much thought to it."

Said Don Hunstein, the man who took the photograph that's on the cover of "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan" — quoted in his NYT obituary. He was 88.

That photograph has been stared at by a lot of people and inspired many, many fantasies — especially of what it should be like to have (or be) a girlfriend.

I'm afraid that when I look at that cover, all I can think of is "gusanos".

Mario Batali's first restaurant was in a building in the background. Much later of course.

I love the album cover, and have always loved the album cover, first as a kid, now as a grown-up.

Who doesn't love walking thru a big city, arm and arm, with a pretty girl?

As a kid, I looked forward to those moments, now I look back fondly!

So sweet. A visual affirmation of equal and complementary.

I find that photo sweetly sexy.

I'm not even imagining her naked. At this particular moment.

I am Laslo.

How can a man be freewheelin' tethered to a girl?

traditionalguy म्हणाले...

We were young once and innocent Boomers. And then the LBJ's crazy Asian War blew it all up.

Hilarious, Paddy.

If you read the history of that romance, it was a loose tether. She was Hot Stuff but not the only Hot Stuff. I was in love with her, just from the photo. But it didn't last.

Bob Dylan is listed at 5-7 but looking at that picture, I think someone is squeezing an inch or two in.

I'm always struck at how short/scrawny a lot of Rock'n'Roll stars are. Seems to be true of pop singers too. Guess if you're tall - you don't need to sing.

Elvis of course, was an exception.

If there's a single factor attributable to Bob Dylan's success, it's this album cover.

We came of age watching and singing the Mickey Mouse Club theme song. Then Zimmerman wrote songs more in tune with LBJ's crazy Asian War.

"...conservative powers forbid subversive ideas to have direct access to the public discourse. Such ideas get first trivialized and sterilized, and then they are safely incorporated back within mainstream society, where they can be exploited to add new flavors to old dominant ideas."

That's a famous picture? He looks rediculous. Especially the hair. Like a child pretending to be an adult. Sad.

Wasn't there a blog entry about the woman on the album cover?

madAsHell म्हणाले...

Yes, I think there was. She died in 2011.

Hmmm.....2011? Six years ago. I need to get a life.
