"Every line of attack the forces of political correctness try on me fails pathetically. I’m more powerful, more influential, and more fabulous than ever before."

Said Milo Yiannopoulos, who's sold his book for $250,000 — "This book is the moment Milo goes mainstream."

He's got a voice that really does fit mainstream America:
"I met with top execs at Simon & Schuster earlier in the year and spent half an hour trying to shock them with lewd jokes and outrageous opinions. I thought they were going to have me escorted from the building – but instead they offered me a wheelbarrow full of money."

After taxes, that's no wheelbarrow.

It's a return of gays with talent, like the old days.

It's in a target-rich environment, too.

Milo is certainly more Paul Lynde than Charles Nelson Reilly.

Trying to find context, that's all.

I am Laslo.

I predicted that the bleeding edge of the right-wing pane of the Overton window would be driven by gay men some twenty years ago. It has taken a while for me to have evidence of this, but the underlying sociology is sound.

Being gay immunizes one against accusations of bias, because leftists are incapable of imagining that a minority could have a bias. And since leftists only have one accusation, that is the argument.

More broadly, gay men have no need of female approval, and are feminized enough to criticize them in a way that seems bitchy, rather than misogynist.

There's the shock value of a gay conservative who has unconventional weapons that are effective against the conventional weapons of the left. Other than that he's a bit banal.

Milo seems immune from all the best Feminist Victimology cons. He ridicules their most powerful public displays of totalitarian power to command all speech to stop.

A trans version of Ann Coulter, if one were really needed.

The left considers him an apostate. As we've seen with Justice Thomas or Michelle Malkin, et alia, they reserve their highest degree of scorn for those they consider traitors to their interest group. Much like radical Islamists.

Why they've even labeled Milo with the dreaded "Alt-right" tag. Much like "racist", as near as I can tell it means someone who disagrees with them.

Ann, in a year you will be embarrassed that you never wrote a negative post about Trump during his rise in 2016.

The Left has assigned Sarah Silverman to attack Milo. She is using the "bringing Hitler to power" argument. No surprise there.

I don't know if Milo has any ideas, but he sure has tactics.

Eric the Fruit Bat म्हणाले...

I seriously doubt that he's a good role model.

Well, perhaps for the young and impressionable who cannot be dissuaded from pursuing a career in show business.

A transgressive conservative is a dangerous thing.
Maybe he'll take over when Rush Limbaugh finally retires.

mockturtle म्हणाले...

He's an deliberate self-parody.

Milo makes me giggle.

I love Milo, but when I first saw him it was mostly in the context of spirited but civilized issue debates on places like Sky TV. He was (is) a wonderful/skilled debater and feel like we may have lost that MY to vers. 2. I wish there were twin Milos and we could have kept them both.

There's always that "Nazis were snappy dressers" trope.

Milo naturally injects humor in a scathing way to melt snowflakes, but his polemical skills are not to be underestimated.
Check out his speech after the Orlando shooting.

$250K doesn't sound like that much money, unless it's just a start.

JAORE म्हणाले...

Milo's greatest skill/weapon is to not cower in fright when put upon by a young SJW.

The reaction of the left by someone saying, "No, you are wrong and I do not accept your label" is delicious.

That said, I prefer him, as with many others, in small doses.

Seem to remember AA going overboard after the "grab 'em by the pussy" thing. Maybe you missed it.

Milo is speaking at the University of Washington in late January. Hubby and I might go.

Titus म्हणाले...

He is gross and thinks he is more important and trailblazing than he really is.

David-2 म्हणाले...

He adapts to the occasion. Check out clips of him on youtube. His behavior at one of his "tour" talks is over the top (which is what the audience expects). Then he goes on some news show to be the target of an attack - I mean, answer questions - about something or other and he destroys the interviewer with facts and logic - and wit.

Yes, if you've watched older clips of him from British TV or even listen to more recent podcasts, you realize that Milo is thoughtful and even erudite. I think he figured thoughtful and erudite wouldn't take him very far in the States. Outlandishness is what attracts attention here, and sashaying out onstage in pearls to proclaim "Feminism is cancer" and make jokes about black dicks has certainly attracted fury from the Left. I appreciate what he is doing, I frequently find him very funny, but I get tired of the over-the-top queen schtick.

The outrage on the Left comes from having their own tactics used against them.

He's much more interesting than you are.

Chuck म्हणाले...

Shouldn't Milo be profoundly grateful for the power of American political correctness? For, like, not being prosecuted for buggery?

I used to follow Milo. He uses his homosexuality, jungle fever, and Jewish lineage as a shield from criticism. But this is the guy who announced a charity called Privilege Grants, started taking money, and hasn't disbursed a penny. Hasn't set up a legal entity either. He makes all the right people angry but every flag he flies is one of convenience. Degenerate, pathological and utterly faithless.
