"Comparing Trump to The Terminator, Chappelle said, 'That would have devastated anybody else.' "

"Chappelle added that Trump’s handling of the debate immediately following the [Access Hollywood tape] controversy had won him over."
Referring to Anderson Cooper and Martha Raddatz’s hostile questioning, he said, “Something about this was backward. A gay white man and a white woman asking a multi-billionaire how he knows the system is rigged and insisting it’s not. Does that sound right to you? It didn’t seem right to me. And here’s how you know Trump is the most gangsta candidate ever. They asked him how he knows the system is rigged and he said, ‘Because I take advantage of it.’ He may as well have flashed his membership card for the Illuminati right then.”

Trump has played the damascene conversion angle from the get go. Or writ larger, he's playing the reformed sinner angle. I mean, he's always said that he's an insider who knows best how crooked the system is. He's getting elected on that promise and will be held to that standard.

Hillary, in contrast, is unaccountable. The MSM is making a last-minute effort to appear like they care about objectivity, but it's almost too late. Their cred is shot. They helped her fail by constantly playing cheerleader.

It's that Trump is for bargaining for Americans' interests instead of politicians' interests.

Given the rightness of that new idea, he can take on anything easily.

Americans' interests are not incompatible with foreigners' interests, just some of those foreigners 'interests.

Where they agree, there's a deal. Otherwise not.

I wonder if he really did vote for her. It seems very odd to vote for her and then spend time on stage telling people who may not have voted yet why she sucks and Trump isn't that bad.

If he did vote for Trump and announced it to the world, his career would suffer.

It's occurred to me that Trump's trash talking and alpha male aura might have actually helped him with some black and Hispanic men. Those cultures value the machismo that has been beaten out of whites. Most are die-hard Democrats, but I can't imagine them being exactly thrilled to vote for a old white woman with a shrill voice.

buwaya म्हणाले...

The Terminator comparison is apt another way - Trump is simply a tireless campaigning machine. This guy has been working the campaign harder than anyone ever has I think. He set himself a killing schedule of personal appearances for over 18 months and is at the peak now - four shows a day, each in a different state! He must have spoken in person to over a million people by this point.

Im quite a bit younger than he is and Im pretty sure I would have expired not too far into that campaign.

Its been an unprecedented, awe-inspiring performance. Whatever his other qualities, we know for certain that his endurance and will are superhuman.

Stop being so coy, HT. Do tell us what horrors are going to be committed by those crazy Trumpkins if he doesn't deliver on that "more than a campaign promise".

Or is that not what you meant by that "what are those people going to do" line? If so, what did you mean? What difference between lack of fulfillment of a campaign promise and lack of fulfillment of a more-than-a-campaign-promise and subsequent voter behavior are you darkly hinting at here?

Frankly, I think you were just drama-queening a bit there. (Lot of that going around.) I don't really think that your "please - it's more than a campaign promise" response here has any here logical connection to your original query.

We need to control immigration, there is no doubt about it. I am hearing zero about the wall now.

What a story if the black male vote for Trump is higher than expected, putting him over the top on Tuesday.

She need African Americans in Philly, Cleveland, Detroit, and maybe even Atlanta. We'll see on Tuesday if they really buy her line of crap. Many left the hall in Cleveland after Jay-Z and Beyoncé were done performing, choosing not to listen to Hillary pander to them. The show was pandering enough.

@HT

That's a straw man. You don't know that Trump won't build a wall and yet you argue it as fact. If the wall doesn't get built, it will be because of congressional cowardice and constraints, as it always is. There is actual historical precedence for that statement.

HT म्हणाले...

You are correct - I don't know. But my hunch is he's just a great marketer, and that he never intended to build it. (You are presenting your own assertion as fact as well.)

Bad Lieutenant म्हणाले...

HT, what if this year it goes 85% instead of 95% wouldn't that be interesting? Maybe a wave election and a tide breaking and you go 75%? Make history!

Too bad you don't live in VA. At least you will be on target. Say what you will, how can you resist the temptation to strike the only blow you KNOW she will feel?

What's your objection to Trump? Is it the vulgar stuff? Then I have to question your seriousness.

You think that he lacks knowledge of the reins of government?? Obama proves that it doesn't matter- as disastrous as he was to our minds, he wasn't disastrous enough to the majority not to be reelected, however foolishly and sadly and under what false pretenses, etc.

That judgment was, however wrongly and unfortunately, made by the people, as far as we know. The precedent is set however, as of 2008, for a non standard politician to be President. I mean a man with no demonstrated valuable talent, skill, achievement or record. If Obama can be president, almost anybody can be President.

You just get advisors and hopefully the people are hiring you for your executive judgement, not your knowledge of this or that political or economic or military mechanism. To my mind the executive is epitomized in this one action: to select from alternatives.

In any case, with Trump there's a chance.

Bad Lieutenant म्हणाले...

So you're for the wall you're against the wall you want to tweak the wall...so you're open to negotiation. Congratulations again on getting a President First Negotiator Trump. Hoping that something good will happen. Again, possible at least literally at least the possibility exists. There is nothing. She wont do anything except by accident and she won't have any accidents.

Who says said the wall has to be it on immigration reform. Merely first. To prove seriousness. Cheap enough. And, as it were, concrete.

Along With that, you legislate all the sensible approaches that Republicans and conservatives have been propounding for eons. Everify and so on. Your goals, maybe, can be promoted in a balance, but it would probably help you not to antagonize him.

He's going to be president and you're going to be his party and you're going to be putting bills through and expecting him to sign them and perhaps he won't cause you f***** him. Don't you get it? Let's say that the legislation goes through him! He could be a real King Veto, too. Or in his case, Don Veto, a man of respect. People call him orange and think that it is a policy argument. There are no stones to throw.

Let's say he's stupid and she's evil. I have to vote for stupid over evil.

HT म्हणाले...

"HT, what if this year it goes 85% instead of 95% wouldn't that be interesting? "

Semi. But you're correct in that it will not be 97% (nowhere near) I was thinking of the primaries (poor Bernie...this is not that liberal a place afterall). Our primaries are usually the equivalent of the general, but there's been a steady Republican presence, locally, through the years.

Bad Lieutenant म्हणाले...

And give him this, HT, Trump has no reason to play ball with anybody. You want to change, he's your guy.

And to anyone comparing Hillary Clinton to Donald Trump:

Whatever Donald Trump may have done, did he do it to you? Or did he do it for you, favorably, I mean do you benefit from his work, and or take no harm?

Ask yourself the same question for Hillary Clinton. What harm has she not done you and us?

heyboom म्हणाले...

(You are presenting your own assertion as fact as well.)

Which is why I also stated that there is historical precedence for that statement. That's why we currently only have a partial wall built on the border. Congress lost the will to finish it.

autothreads म्हणाले...

I've been saying all along that black voters may be the difference for Trump. The simple electoral math is that if a Democrat gets less than 85% of the black vote, he or she can't get elected president. That's why they keep playing the racism card (though I wonder how many blacks care about Trump's comments about Mexicans and Muslims). Most people, though, won't pay attention when Hillary is getting 4/5ths of the black vote because it's such an overwhelming majority, but Trump doesn't have to get a majority of blacks to vote for him. He just has to peel away 15%+, which is achievable. He lives large and in charge and that appeals to a lot of blacks, particularly black men, many of whom probably regard Hillary unfavorably. Rasmussen has Trump averaging 16% of likely black voters over the past month. The fact that Mr. Obama has been out stumping for Hillary and urging blacks to be "solid" shows that the Dems know they're vulnerable on that front.

I’m not going to vote for Trump, Bad Lt. The kicker is that if Hillary wins, it may be bc of the surge in the Hispanic vote. As I’ve said elsewhere, I have never seen a group of people so mobilized to vote. What will this mean in terms of indebtedness?

But by now, I should have known for sure if Trump were sincere in his supposed love of the working class. It would be apparent in his actions - he would not have put out ads for foreign workers, for one thing. He would have faith in American workers, he’d know instinctively what our strengths are, and that would come across. It’s not coming across. He does not seem to have a feel for the strength of the American worker beyond empty words (and who is not sick of his pattern of speaking now? That soft Trumpian rhythm that’s jeeeest this side of whiney) like, “I love it! Blacks for Trump! The uneducated are for Trump! Workers are for Trump!” And people holler. Well big whoop. That means nothing. He’s just putting out energy to get twice as much back. I don’t think he stands for much at the end of it all.
