"... it's nothing new for the politically-minded director, whose films often have an unapologetic political agenda to them. What's new is that Citizens United allows Moore to be honest about it. The film that sparked that landmark First Amendment ruling, Hillary: The Movie, was inspired by Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11, released in the summer of 2004, and the influence that film had on the election season.... The Federal Elections Commission decided... that the two films were different because the latter was 'electioneering.' In [Citizens United], the Supreme Court took away the power from government to make those kind of highly subjective distinctions, freeing Michael Moore to be honest about his intents...."

Another reason why Citizens United is an important Civil Rights case, and why the left wants it discredited and overturned. Not the left's idea of a civil right.
Key take-away:
...who nevertheless support a candidate who opposes Citizens United and is proud to be in favor of banning films that depict her in a negative light... Unless they assume, as partisans on both sides often seem to, that laws restricting speech and media should only apply to those with whom they disagree, since those are the people who are wrong.
Someone should ask Michael Moore his opinion on Citizens United and has he changed his mind in light of this new propaganda piece of his?

Moore likely knows that if Citizens United is overturned, the FEC will return to punishing only documentaries from one part of the ideological spectrum. I suspect that is why he would support overturning it. Moore is very much like the bootlegger who supported prohibition, because he (the bootlegger) gave free booze to the local chief of police. He was immune from punishment, and in addition had a government enforced monopoly.
There used to be a saying about Baptists and Bootleggers. My generation says the same thing about the FEC and Progressives.
And what does a government led by either President Trump or President Clinton influence positions of people who support or reject the government being the subjective arbitrator?
Isn't it funny how that works--the Left isn't subjected to legal restrictions but the Right is?
Probably just a coincidence, no reason to bring it up or think about it. It is probably whining to even mention the obvious difference in treatment.
(Don't worry, citizens, the laws and your government are impartial and will treat you fairly regardless of your polical affiliation.)
Michael Moore? I thought he had died.
Michael Moore? I thought he had died.
He only looks that way.
Michael Moore's entire career was built around being dishonest about his intent.
It's laughable to hear Hillary talk about Citizens United.
The Wikileaks Podesta emails contains some of his emails from his time at Center for American Progress during the Obama campaign, and then during Hillary Clinton's run. And you know what his time is taken up with? Money. Dinners and meetings with Soros, with the guy from Move On, figuring out which PAC is going to run which ads and where Soros' check for 5 million is going to go. Getting emails from a guy at Citi listing cabinet appointments Obama should make.
It's the unions and SEIU giving money
And then with Hillary its Haim Saban, who bought Univision and pushes ideas about Hispanic messaging and Israel to her. It's fundraisers with millionaires and how to push bundlers.
It's money money money all through those emails. And Podesta himself has gotten rich through all of this. So the idea that Citizens United is the big problem is just pablum for the masses.
I was thinking yesterday about the way Michael Moore is treated vs the way James O'Keefe is treated. CNN covered O'Keefe but called him discredited. The Democrats on the panels about him called him a criminal (he pled guilty to a misdemeanor, the rest of the charges were dropped, and the prosecutors who went after him resigned in shame over another case). Everyone talks about whether his tapes are doctored-- they actually say they are, even though O'Keefe releases unedited video.
But no. He's a criminal and Michael Moore is a hero.
Will anyone right of Stalin see his movies anymore?
In fascist Hillary world, or really, (any fascist democrat world), free speech is OK for Moore, but not OK for others. Esp if those others criticize the leftwing dictator.
"dark money" is the big lie the Maddow-Clinton fascist left use to sell to masses of gullible idiots..
Ah Moore, preaching to the choir in such a way as he may lose choir members. I recall watching "Bowling for Columbine" and thinking "maybe it's time I bought a gun." After all, he pointed out in the documentary that Canada had higher gun ownership rates than the U.S. and yet a lot less per capita gun violence.
Never really saw his overall point in that film, except to try and mock Charlton Heston and pretend you can get a rife the same day you open a bank account (you can't, I tried! The teller actually said "sir we don't give out guns here, and this isn't even a bank, this is a dry cleaner's").
We need a HUGE Citizens United club. Masses of Americans standing should to shoulder in solidarity against the corrupt leftwing dictator. We need a revolution.
The Soros/Moore/Clinton nexus of corruption and lies must die.
"We need a HUGE Citizens United club. Masses of Americans standing should to shoulder in solidarity against the corrupt leftwing dictator. We need a revolution."
Considering we had our chance this year and decided to put our faith in one of Clinton's old buddies who assures us he's for real despite his record and our lying eyes, I don't see anything close to a "revolution" happening. The armed revolutionaries are more likely to spend time shooting each other.
Don't you worry none MM,Hillary will roll back your freedom soon enough.
Brando - We had our chance to beat her and we squandered it with someone we never vetted, and yes - someone who used to sing the praises of the The Clinton, actually write checks to the Clinton, and golf with the Clinton. It's all so ridiculous.
The big prize is Moore, Soros and institutionalized corruption that will be impossible to untangle.

Yep--if it was a movie, I'd have dismissed it as too far fetched.
