Mayor Jennifer Roberts, who allowed people to speak for two hours, repeatedly had to stop the meeting, pleading for quiet. Sometimes the crowd quieted to allow people to speak. At other times, her requests were met with heckles and chants for justice....
Members of the audience repeatedly shouted down council members as they attempted to talk.
“You’re telling me you’re coming to my house. You tell me I look like Donald Trump. You tell me I’m smirking. That doesn’t feel good,” council member Kenny Smith said. “… But we need to talk. We need to do it together.”
When council member Ed Driggs said, “We have to continue to support our chief, who is an honest man,” he was shouted down.

These are rather explicit threats of violence.
I assume nobody was charged.
I could not tell from the video exactly what happened. What I don't understand is what the hell the wife was doing. Apparently the guy had some bad brain injury and was, essentially, handicapped. So what does she do? Instead of helping out and making sure that nothing untoward happens, she stands by and videos her husband getting plugged. I don't get it.
This isn't going to end well for anyone. Well, maybe for Texas. Once all those high-paying knowledge based jobs and industries leave NC for Auatin, taking their tax revenues with them.
Austin
"Stop spending money on the police force and start spending money on children." Together with the predictable results on enforcement of a Mayor hanging cops out to dry, and calls for "hands down shoot back" Charlotte is headed down the Baltimore/St. Louis/Chicago exploding homicide rate path.
Bank headquarters are staffed with dweeby guys and gals who don't want to worry about being shot or assaulted on their way back to the car in the evening after work. Some regional banking system in the Upper midwest or Rocky mountain states is about to "acquire" Bank of America.
@Ron - hard to imagine a city less like CLT than Austin. Atlanta might get some.
Side note - I bet Trump carries Mecklenburg and NC now.

so, yet again, The mob is fixated on being outraged at something that is a figment of their imagination. Scott had a gun. he had an ankle holster which is visible on the various tapes. The cops foudn a gun on the scene with is DNA on it. And it will fit in the ankle holster perfectly. Because its the same gun.
They found the gun ON THE DASHBOARD cam within 5 seconds of shooting him. You hear a cop say "I've got the gun" you then can see the gun under his foot on all the videos that have been released. He is protecting the evidence by standing over it.
There is a conspiracy theory that the video show cops planted the gun on video. But if you actually whatch all the videos you can clearly see that what they are saying is a gun is actually a latex glove that fell.
He had a gun. The ONLY thing you could say is there isn't evidence that he pointed the gun directly at cops. However, he was asked to drop the gun 12 times and refused to do so. Cops will shoot you if you dont comply and they think you pose a threat.
Further, they picked the wrong victim to turn into a martyr. Unlike Eric, the Gentle Giant, Garner, this guy has a long criminal record of violent crimes. He was even arrested for shooting at cops who then chased him and he commited assault on one of them by punching him in the face.
The fact that he had an ankle holster alone means he had a gun. THe fact that the gun will match the ankle holster suggests that they didnt plant it. And the fact the he shot at cops shows, that he has no problem shooting at cops.
We can all accept that cops are racist and that the systemic is systemically racist against blacks. But please brign forth actual examples that prove that point before you go riot in the street.
Even now, when the evidence is coming out, there is blind obediance to the perception of what happened. Actual facts will not override the perception to a lot of those saying he was shot for being black by racist cops.

That'll work. If you don't have to read it, it's like no one is appalled by the violent agitators in Charlotte.
@Ron - hard to imagine a city less like CLT than Austin. Atlanta might get some.
I can't imagine any company voluntarily relocating to Atlanta, but NCR did just a couple of years ago. I turned down a good job at CNN back in the nineties because they let me out of the interview at 4ish, just in time to get stuck in traffic for two hours just to get on I-20, which was also backed up. And its only gotten much, much, much worse since. I dread the times when I have to drive there.
I must admit though, I have never been to Austin. I only know it by reputation, which is "not like the rest of Texas and weird." Its supposed to have a great music scene, but I'm probably to old now to appreciate it.
I've been trying to follow this story - trying because so much mis-information is present.
As far as I can tell, here's what we know which OUTRAGES me at the mob behavior right now.
Mr. Scott (the deceased) had a subcompact .380 auto with him that police reported to see twice. It's part of the evidence along with an ankle hoster. The video shows the ankle holster. One year ago, his wife filed and obtained a restraining order against him and noted that he carries a 9mm black pistol (which was illegal, since he was a felon). Multiple police reported to see a gun in his hand, in his car, on two seperate occasions, and then in his hand out of the car as they shouted "Don't shoot".
He had just smoked marijuana (based on evidence) and potentially taken some medication for a TBI and he appears to have gotten out of the car with his wife shouting int he background "Don't you do it!" at least 4 seperate times as he got out of the car facing police and with them shouting "Drop your gun!" repeatedly and from multiple sources.
The officer, a black man, working for a police chief, also black, and both with excellent records have released all video which does not conclusively show his hands with/without a gun (but does clearly show him wearing the ankle holster), but all verbal supporting evidence indicates everyone there believes he has a gun and that he's acting oddly.
...
With all of this history, evidence, prior violence, potentially altered state of mind, EVERYTHING...
We have riots. We have people saying to shoot back at the police. Asking for mass resignations.
Trump did not do well last night IMHO, but he at least reported that we need law and order back about 20x.
A law and order breakdown brought to you by the Dems. Vote Hillary.
Less than a year ago, the wife got a restraining order against her husband and wrote on it that he has a gun.
My theory is this: We are creating a culture where people tape people in their lives getting shot by the police and instantly create a narrative to bring on a payday. The payday is more important to you than that particular person.
@Ron - My son had a summer comp/sci internship in Austin - the traffic there makes Atlanta look like Mayberry.
I liked it, but it was hot, hot, hot and I live near Miami, so I've got something to compare it to.
Good food and beer and music scene.

I must admit though, I have never been to Austin. I only know it by reputation, which is "not like the rest of Texas and weird."
The way I've heard it explained is that "Austin is Texas, for people who hate Texas."
Listening to Mrs. Scott's tape, I think it should be looked into whether this was a "suicide by cop," and that Scott had talked to his wife about how he would arrange it if the opportunity arose beforehand. The "Keith, come on out of there! Don't you do it! Don't you do it!" suggests that as a possibility to me.
It's a mob. A contained mob but a mob nevertheless. Mobs do not listen or engage in dialog, except at a very elemental macro level.
At least they're finally honest about #blackshitsplatters. I will shoot first.
This stuff isn't going to help crooked Hillary. Law and order will be stressed by Trump over and over.
The Ferguson effect and more self inflicted violence on innocent inner city people will result. It would be nice if the crowd were called on the murders they will be responsible for, but they will not.
We had two shootings by cops in the space of a couple of days: Tulsa and Charlotte. Each city handled it very differently. (Not saying that one was right and the other wrong, or even better or worse, just different) One city had 3 days of riots, the other pretty much nothing.
Charlotte - Since 1900 has had 4 Republican mayors, all fairly recently, for 22 years total. The rest have been Democrats.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayor_of_Charlotte,_North_Carolina#List_of_mayors_of_Charlotte
Tulsa - Since 1900 has had Dem and repub mayors. They seem fairly evenly distributed with regular turnover between parties.

I don't know whether there is a moral to the story. I report, you decide.
John Henry
Useful to remember the next time progs call for civility.
Class diversity seems to be a progressive condition.
Maybee & Hagar:
That is exactly what I thought re "suicide by cop for a payday" when I saw the video and heard the wife's odd words.
Those are not only stupid blacks but the media are playing to a stupid audience. Their audience.
Yet they are the gatekeepers for what story plays and does not die.
Take an affirmative action approach. The average black IQ is only 86 and this may be all we should expect in the way of cogent thinking from them.
Make bad behavior no longer pay.

NC is a battleground state. OK is not. That is the only reason they are trying to drum up riots there to drive up the black vote. Simple reality.
I did a lot of business travel to cities in Texas back in the day. I'll vouch for the fact that Austin is unique. Like Madison, it's the seat of government and home of the state's largest university. Politically it seems two sigma left of the Texas center, which puts it only one sigma left of the center for most US cities. It has a large high tech industry base. But on any autumn Saturday when the good old boys come to town one can see gigantic Caddy convertibles from decades ago with steer horns on the hood.
My favorite Texas city is San Antonio. That's the city where I was introduced to chicken-fried steak.
This is all Donald Trump's fault, because he asked for a birth certificate.
Why didn't the City Council simply approve Social Justice. Unanimous. Everybody can go home.
Well, the cops have found the man who says he sold the stolen gun to the dead man. The dead man was a felon (left prison in 2011) and was going to prison if he allowed the cops to take him alive, because he was committing a felony by having the gun.
The wife swore out a complaint last year against the dead man alleging that he had a gun and had threatened to kill her with it. So we can assess the family's credibility.
What we have here is an unwillingness to deal with facts, and obviously the state report on the shooting isn't going to improve matters.
John - but the Tulsa shooting was unjustified, and the Charlotte shooting was justified.
You don't know either of that, Mama.
We are just suggesting Keith Scott may have set up his demise; not that we know that.
Likewise, the Tulsa video in the dark is not conclusive as to what Officer Shelby saw, or thought she saw.
This article from the Charlotte Observer is another great chance to play "Name that Party!" Nowhere does it state that Mayor Roberts is a Democrat, although there is some mention of criticism of her by the NC Republican Party at the very end.
In the mainstream press, Democrats can do no wrong and are certainly never accused of racism. I had to look her up on Wikipedia to find that she is a failed Democratic candidate for the House of Representatives.
I hope she is enjoying being the face of white racism in Charlotte.
This might give those who think the Tulsa shooting was "unjustified" a few things about which to think. And it is in general just a good article.
Police Detective Puts the Tulsa Incident In Perspective
The BLM crowd wants police to stop policing things like selling drugs, beating women and snitches, driving w/o a license or expired tags, selling"loosies" or shoplifting. I say, let em have it. Put a wall around the ghetto and wish them luck. As long as you also keep the fire men and EMTs out of harm's way, too.
Hagar - "know" as in a court? No, we cannot. But the video and facts in the Tulsa shooting tell one strong story, and the video and facts in the Charlotte shooting tell another strong story.
We do know which one should be considered highly suspicious, in terms of how a decent citizen should react. Of course violent rioting is not ever justified as a response IMO, but citizens should keep up pressure to have police shootings independently vetted. There are cases of malfeasance, and an arrangement to have an outside agency investigate is probably socially good - if the social environment is such that the investigation results will be accepted.
I think the Charlotte shooting should be fully investigated. But the investigation won't change the social impact, will it? That's the central issue at the moment.
"John - but the Tulsa shooting was unjustified, and the Charlotte shooting was justified. "
Here is what happens when the officer waits too long to shoot,
Probably PCP.
More on that story.
Despite commands issued by Dinkheller, Brannan walked back to his pickup truck and drew an M1 carbine from underneath the driver's seat, taking cover near the driver side door. Dinkheller positioned himself near the passenger door of his cruiser and gave Brannan commands for approximately 40 seconds before Brannan stepped away from his pickup truck, pointing his M1 carbine at Dinkheller and fired shots. Dinkheller fired a shot at Brannan but missed. Dinkheller did not strike the suspect initially and thus was forced to reload.
At this point, Brannan ran from his pickup truck toward the deputy and began to fire again, hitting Dinkheller in exposed areas such as the arms and legs. Brannan then began to reload his weapon as the now injured Dinkheller tried to position himself near the driver side door of his cruiser. Another shot from Dinkheller was heard. Brannan began advance firing at the deputy, hitting him numerous times. Before being disabled from gunfire, Dinkheller was able to inflict a gunshot wound to the stomach of Brannan. Dinkheller had been shot nine times when Brannan took careful aim, said, "Die fucker," and fired a final fatal shot into Dinkheller's right eye.
I don't blame her a bit and am certain she will be exonerated at trial. Too bad she has to go through what the Baltimore officers did.
“You’re telling me you’re coming to my house. You tell me I look like Donald Trump. You tell me I’m smirking. That doesn’t feel good,” council member Kenny Smith said. “… But we need to talk. We need to do it together.”
It sounds like folks in Charlotte should pick up a little extra ammo along with the trick-or-treat candy this year.
An overlooked tragedy is reflected in that 10 year old child. Not only used as a prop, his heart if filled with fear and loathing for cops.
Great parenting job there. Equal to the best work done to the KKK chillin'.
"Hands down shoot back." Great advice, let me know how well that turns out. Care to bet that those offering this brilliant advice have absolutely no intention of following it themselves? They will, however, be more than willing to use the resultant funerals for political gain.
Just like Ferguson, over 70% of those arrested in NC for looting, etc., were bused in.
Give 'em a 200 point "C" in red on their foreheads.

Staff, I'm looking at you.
Musn't disturb ANYONE'S dinner.
What will we do?
I Know!
Am I making too much sense?
I need to dial it back to Madison level politics.
Mead, my man.
Add an "e" as necessary.
Buzz was Meade.
What to do? What to do?
That's up to you.
Asking Trump a lot of questions and giving him time to respond is an advantage. Period. If the questions are antagonistic he can dismiss it and focus on his strengths or focus on her faults.
In a war of words, never complain about being given the opportunity to speak.
These complaints only come because Trump failed to hit their softball pitches out of the park. It's as if Trump actually lives up to his name of being all Trumped up with no substance.
Michael K, I want to be sympathetic to the cops in Tulsa but my opinion is that the shooter quietly panicked and had a stress failure. Not screaming and "die Negro die," just that when the first cop Tased the guy, hey finger clenched and she let off a round.
Bet a shiny penny that's the truth of it. Why else would she shoot as her fellow officer stunned?
Bonus demerits (at least in the court of public opinion) because they were slow to aid the fallen. Not there was none of the usual activity to clear the body, cuff him, look for weapons. They knew what happened.
The police now have testimony from a bugler who sold Scott the gun. They have the gun; his DNA and prints are on it. He also had a holster for the newly purchased stolen gun wrapped around his ankle. In addition, his wife had a restraining order against him, and among other things, she reported the he beat their eight year old. Maybe, his wife was content to video the event rather than attempting to help the police in pursuading him to drop the gun. He's gone now. He's not around to beat her kid, or to take a knife, once again, to her back and lungs. Maybe, that was her plan.
Just like Ferguson, over 70% of those arrested in NC for looting, etc., were bused in.
Yet they won't look into WHO (a Soros funded group, almost assuredly) is busing them in and charge them for inciting riots.
"PANTS UP, DON'T LOOT!"
There probably is more of a reason for blacks to protest in Tulsa, Oklahoma isn't a battle ground state so Soros isn't agitating to get out the black vote.
On the other hand, Tulsa blacks know the history of what happened in 1921 when the whites got pissed off, the black part of town was raised. Of course whites don't riot much anymore with the exception of twinky occupiers, They vote for Republicans.
Do you mean "razed"? Or did they elevate it?
I'm perfectly willing to accept the person's statement "hands down, shoot back" if in turn those who would riot accept thst of this guy dies in a shoot out with cops, none of us will make excuses for his dumb ass.
He is literally giving a prescription for people to follow if they want to get shot by cops. So, if he follows it and is shot by cops, GOOD. He'd be sacrificing himself as a model of what not to do.
Thank you for your sacrifice, kind sir.though, technically we'd all know not to shoot at cops bwcasie we are not idiots. But, maybe your sacrifice was intended for the retards in the crowd. If so, good job.
It's a shame so much of the BLM supports violence (as long as it's against outsiders). That fact alone will ensure both the failure of the organization (which deserves to fail) and also the issue they claim to be concerned about (which does not).
There probably is more of a reason for blacks to protest in Tulsa, Oklahoma isn't a battle ground state so Soros isn't agitating to get out the black vote.
The narrative there is also full of holes.
"Why else would she shoot as her fellow officer stunned? "
That's well known apparently and you could well be correct.
Also, I think small stature women are more likely to shoot a big guy.
The ONLY thing you could say is there isn't evidence that he pointed the gun directly at cops.
And even this point is laughable. If you are a cop facing an armed person who refuses to obey numerous lawful commands AND you wait to shoot until their gun is aimed at you … you are very likely going to be a cop who is shot.
