I think the worst thing I have read lately is Jeh Johnson - the Buddha of Homeland Security - saying that they are considering naming our national elections (or is it all elections?) "critical infrastructure" and thus a responsibility of the Department of Homeland Security to conduct.

Trikes = Old people. Impressed upon me in my Florida childhood.

Meanwhile, Corrine Brown (D-FL) was just indicted on 20+ felony counts. She set up a phony foundation, only gave out one scholarship, and spent the rest on luxury travel skybox seats, and personal expenses.

The difference between what she did and Hillary's foundation is.... what, exactly?

Oh, Corrine is black. Maybe HRC has white white-collar-criminal privilege?

When it is on the record that Clinton, Inc. employees did State Dept. business and State Dept. employees did Clinton, Inc. business - up to the level of Ass't Secretary Cheryl Mills traveling around the country interviewing people for board positions in Clinton, Inc. - how in the world can Madam Clinton claim she kept "work" and private interests separate?

jimbino म्हणाले...

I read in so many reports that crooked Hillary showed no criminal intent in her betrayal of national interests by unprotected e-mails. As far as I have always understood, intent means intent to perform the acts that are elements of the crime and NOT intent to betray the country or to violate any law.

Hillary definitely did show intent to perform the acts: intent to transmit classified material unprotected, intent to set up the private server that was used, and so on.

Why is there no discussion of intent or of wilfullness, malice or mens rea?

Bobby म्हणाले...

Hagar,

One minor correction that doesn't take away from your point (actually emphasizes it a little stronger to wonk circles): Cheryl Mills simultaneously held the positions of Counselor of the United States Department of State (known as the "C" within the Department) and Chief of Staff to the Secretary of State while she was interviewing prospective Clinton Foundation board members (and conducting other Foundation work). The Counselor is more senior than an Assistant Secretary -- the C is at least equivalent to an Undersecretary (and probably more prestigious as s/he reports directly to the Secretary).

Normally, I'd say "de gustibus non est disputandum" but that trike is objectively hideous.

Trump specifically says he will deport 11 million illegal immigrants in this audio recording of the Calling Alabama series:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8ZT_dsB5gM

Starting at 14:47. Trump says "really good management" will enable him to take all illegal immigrants and "get them out", but "wonderful cases" can come back in. He says it will 18 months-two years, and it has to be done "humanely". He also says Ben Carson couldn't handle it.

What do I win?

I posted this response to your Trump deportation challenge in the right thread as I just saw it. So please delete this if it's repetitive.

".. you can go anywhere you want."

Hm. Would that it were! Perhaps at some point, with planning.

Ummm....the bike is ugly. I hope this wasn't some middle-aged-crazy investment to re-capture your youth!!

Freeman Hunt म्हणाले...

Several gardeners told me that I could radically cut back our overgrown holly bushes, so I did. I cut them all down to stumps as directed and waited. And nothing happened. And nothing happened. And I was worried that they were all dead. And nothing happened. And then they all came back! They've now grown enough that I had to go out and trim them today.

The moral of the story is, "Cut your overgrown holly back."

Also, I found the original plant tags embedded in the trunks when I took all of their branches off. That was interesting.

Some in the bike community label those "training wheels".

Not I. Having drilled a rather large, free-range black lab with my TR6 a few years ago, I would prefer that style now.

Trump meets with the Mexican President today in Mexico City and then does a rally/speech in Phoenix in the evening. He's the Energizer Bunny.

Meanwhile, Hillary naps and then "hits Trump for dropping in" on the Mexican President.

Hillary Clinton today used her first public event in nearly a week to bash Donald Trump for “dropping in” on Mexico, saying building relationships takes more than “a photo op.”

Interesting contrast. The media thinks (or pretends) Hillary won the day by bashing Trump from the comfort of her lazy boy.

Clinton knows that when you want to build relationships with foreigners, it's not enough to fly to their countries. You have to drop bombs on them.

Jonah Goldberg, on the alt-right;

"So what does the “core alt-right” represent? “The one thing they all agree on,” Jonah says, “is what they call racial realism, or racialism, which is just a social science sounding term for racism. … the one thing they all agree on is that we need to organize this society on the assumption that white people are genetically superior, or that white culture is inherently superior, and that we should have either state-imposed or culturally-imposed segregation between the races, no race mixing with the lower brown people.”"

Actually, the race realists seem to be the only ones who *don't* think this society should be organized on the basis of idiotic racial assumptions. I think maybe Jonah has joined the alt-Left.

I'm watching the live stream of that Magnificent Bastard Trump. He is whipping the crowd to a frenzy!!..and me too!!

I fail to understand how Hillary has ANY traction. I think the polls are tainted.

Meanwhile, at the NYT; "Australia's Gulag Archipelago", by a nasty little piece of work called Julie Baird. Ms. Baird is, of course, just a tad confused about the circumstances surrounding the operations of the Gulag Archipelago. Like the people who can't understand the difference between the wall Trump wants to build, and the one they used to have in Berlin.

The interesting point about people like Baird is that they are well aware of the atrocities perpetrated by the Communists, and of the nearly universal horror and disgust with which they are regarded. What they can't seem to wrap their little bitty minds around is just exactly whose idea those atrocities were. It can't have been the Left, she assumes, because the Left means the nice people she went to school with, and they would never do anything bad. So, it must have been the Right!

"Mr Reagan, Tear down this wall!", she cries, stamping her dainty little foot.

I think there may be something in the water at NRO. I emailed Hugh Hewitt on this today.

My take on alt-right.

Now, I will again retire to the sidelines. I actually enjoy reading comments and not posting my own.

From 'The Community of Color Gazette':

"White Man Leaves Motorcycle Unguarded Overnight On A Community of Color Street"

Trevor Smith, a White Man visiting in our Community of Color, left his motorcycle unguarded overnight. Mr. Smith was proud and relieved that his motorcycle was not harmed in the evening hours.

"I realize it is a questionable neighborhood," Mr Smith said. "But I was visiting a friend and had to leave my bike somewhere."

When asked if he has parked his motorcycle in the Neighborhood before, Mr. Smith gave a forthright answer.

"It's not like I'm buying crack, you know? Sure, I've been around these blocks, but that's because the guys I buy grass from keep moving houses."

So how did Mr. Smith happen to leave his motorcycle overnight?

"Oh man. Good weed. We played video games and drank some Forties, then it was morning. Shit."

The question was then posed to Mr. Smith if he would leave his motorcycle overnight again in the Neighborhood.

"Yeah, maybe. There were some black dudes hanging around it in the morning, but they didn't mean nothing, I gave them some cigarettes and everything was good."

Mr. Smith, a White Man who spent the evening in our Community of Color, said it was "good."

So there it is: a Story of Change in our Community of Color. For more stories like this please read 'The Community of Color Gazette'.

I am Laslo.

Sir Spatula's reporting reminds of visiting a similar neighborhood to meet with a parent of a "youth at risk" student recruited for an educational video series.
I knocked on the door and a young girl opened it, eyes growing very large..mouth forming a perfect circle..then turning her back to me while shouting "Mommm! There's WHITE man here to see ya."

Nobody seems to have noticed Giuliani wearing a "Make Mexico Great Again Also" hat while he was warming up the audience.

I was watching the CNN pre-speech criticism last night and nobody on that panel seemed to notice either.

It's a VW bug. The Queen, and King sit on the motor while the Jester manages the steering, and gear shift.

Am I the only one to notice that 99 times out of 100, when you call a liberal out on one of their 'facts,' the response is deflection, a rhetorical question, or silence. But when they actually do have right on their side, that 1 time in 100, they can't shut up about it, even showing up in unrelated threads.

When I see this, it just reaffirms my belief that when they don't respond, it's because they can't respond.

Jaq म्हणाले...

If the "alt right" claims to be about "racial realism," what are the people who claim that other races need to meet lower standards to get into college, or who claim that denying felons the vote is racist, to just get started. Is keeping Asians out of Harvard "racial realism"? Is that what the alt-right stands for?

I don't know what "racial realism" means to this person or that, but I do know that whatever it might mean, it is almost certainly a lousy basis on which to form government policy.

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...
