Meade titled the first picture "Feel the Berm."

That made a special impact on me.

Additional obstacles in my way, seen clearly now:

looks like a fun empty lot we had in our neighborhood, as a kid.

Wow! That's a serious X-country course. I believe I've seen pictures of you with your helmet on, good.

I'm glad you're impressed by that, because I can do those things.

"looks like a fun empty lot we had in our neighborhood, as a kid."

It was built on some unused, wasted land. The people who worked on those trails (including Meade) made something out of practically nothing). By winding the paths around with fairly small areas of woods in between, there's an illusion of a lot of space, something like 3 miles of a ride through through the woods.

hello professor,

here's someone who also has an althouse-like take on traveling:

COWEN: If you could travel to one place you haven’t been, where would it be and why?

PAGLIA: I’m like Huysmans’s aesthete, des Esseintes. I am not a great fan of traveling. I just feel like it’s become too onerous. No, I’m a mind traveler.

for myself, my world travels taught me much, but i missed a lot of living going on back home. looking back, hard to say since my travels made me wiser but i think it would have been better to have spent those years living here with loved ones rather than gallivanting around the globe with daily adventures.

I like travel but we are staying closer to home this year.

Europe is out this time.

As long as you didn't make a special impact on it.

Watch out for big marbles racing towards you. Especially the Red one.

Is the course flat or is it hillary?

Coconuss Network म्हणाले...

I'm spooked. :***(

Adamsunderground म्हणाले...

That's a nice beginner course to gain an appreciation for lowered air pressure in the tires, if plnch flats weren't already motivation aplenty.

Looks like a sandy berm ... er.

Thanks, Kit!

Paul म्हणाले...

Doesn't get much better than a mountain bike in the woods (or desert, slickrock, etc.). Congrats!

Paul म्हणाले...

I assume it's a modern bike with tubeless tires in which case pinch flats are a non issue.

Paul म्हणाले...

Must see!! The confluence of state of the art trail building and riding. Fantastic!!

Bob म्हणाले...

The bridge over a ditch and the rocks filling the ditch to ground level aren't the obstacles.

The ditch is the obstacle. The bridge and rocks are solutions to the problem.

Quaestor म्हणाले...

Quaestor felt the berm once.

KellyM म्हणाले...

What a fun route! Gotta hit those rocks with some speed to float and keep your line. The berms are great when you've got a little groove going.

Meade म्हणाले...

@Paul, that was fantastic! Thanks.

No grade inflation here.
