Looks like I could have seen you with binoculars from my deck this morning.

The problem is not that university administrators are too ready to appease the campus left.

I may have been there, once too.

There used to be an artesian well in Middleton over by the lake on Lake St., very near what I guess is now called Capt. Bill's Seafood (via Google maps). Does anybody know if it's still there?

Have been going to those springs for well over 20 years now, it's a wonderful property.

Highly involved these days in the Bock Forest restoration which is over by the water tower you see from the hill. We had the first bloom of that prairie parcel last year, it's nice to go by the springs and see what another ten years of work will bring.

Every week we hear the resident coyotes (sometimes during the day), every day we hear the nesting Sandhills, saw an osprey there Monday ... it's a great park for wildlife. Hopefully you saw the Meadowlarks that have been around.

Recommendation for new Science Fiction and Fantasy - Available from Althouse Amazon!
having just gotten the bug again, after decades away from my ancient addiction -

John C Wright -
"Golden Age" trilogy - Far future SF chock full of invention, twists, weirdness and fun.
And pretty much anything of his, there are quite a few novels and series.
Look especially for the collection "Awake in the Night Land".
He resurrects a lot of the old magic in SF AND Fantasy.
Check it out.

Buyawa, I enjoy John C. Wright's blog--one of my favorite posts:

(I'm not into reading sci-fi, but have heard his work is very good.)

Just missed you... I walked around Pheasant Branch this morning with my wife at 10am. Probably my favorite walk in town. I'm on the west side, so it's convenient too. Any thoughts on Jesus Lunch in Middleton? I'm interested in the legal angle. It seems to depend on what the terms of Middleton High School's lease of the park. Either the city is renting the park to two different groups at the same time, or the school thinks it has more authority there than it does. As usual, it's hard to tell from any news stories.

There seems to be a mild infusion of insightful and witty new commenters. I was worried that the presidential election would swamp the site with more partisan drones.

I was assured, by the very best commentors on this blog, that Obamacare would be affordable.
