I devised this theory after encountering (just now, in my Facebook feed) "Donald Trump gets into Twitter war with Modern Family writer—is obliterated" — which goes to a Daily Kos article from last summer that ends with "A reader brought to my attention that this twitter battle happened 2 years ago!"
My comment at Facebook:
Should we be promoting stories with clickbait headlines like "is obliterated"? Also, that's some ugly eliminationisticness, "obliterated." If we're supposed to loathe Trump for his brutish language, are we not hypocritical to jump at "obliterated"?I'm quoting myself here because I like to use my civility bullshit tag.

Clickbait does not tempt me in the least.
I hate clickbait. I like how the resistance is rising up already. On fb, people criticize the crazy grab-em hook lines, list what the content is and generally warn people not to waste their time.
Hook-lines like that are like posing a question, and the brain cannot resist a question. So I ask myself, Do I care? No. Scroll on by.
'Civility bullshit'? Wow.
I am Laslo.
"10 Reasons Falling For Shameless Click Bait Makes You A Bad Mother."
It's metaclickbait, which is OK if you do one weird trick first.
A recent fake Drudge headline:
LIFE IN SPACE: Scientists develop embryo among stars... Planet colonization breakthrough...
Dontcha just wanna read it?

Wow ! Looks interesting, got a link to that?
"obliterated" isn't so much eliminationisticexpialadocious as much as it is just juvenile, the sort of thing a fifteen-year-old girl would say. (Which describes most of the current output of the Internet.)
Facebook is about 75% clickbait.
Tired of all that clickbait?
Phil,
That's a great link. The British tabloid press certainly loves American White Trash in all it's varied glory. Interesting that their gutter press showcases the poor, creepy and dysfunctional of America, whereas our gutter press (which is pretty much all of it) showcases the privileged, famous, and dysfunctional of Britain. Little wonder we have such a warped view of each other's countries.
I get a lot of click bait emails and direct them to the spam filter.
The Mail is the king of clickbait.
