"Weiner doesn't plumb its subject's psyche; it tells us nothing about the scandal that hasn't been revealed already (thank heaven); it may not even help the undecided understand whether they should celebrate the end of his political career or think it's a shame. But it's an invigorating chance to experience [an ordeal] from afar...."
Hollywood Reporter reviews the documentary movie Weiner — a reality-show of a movie made of clipped together footage the filmmakers got as they got follow-me-around access to Huma Abedin and Anthony Weiner.

Maybe it "doesn't plumb its subject's psyche" because there is nothing worthwhile to plumb. He's a politician, after all.
They wish they had an Oscar for Mayor Weiner.
Cause everyone would be in love with them.
Anything about Hillary's damn emails?
Not tired of hearing about them.
Yeeow, Barry! That was a painful contortion.
"If Huma can forgive him, who am I to hold a grudge?"
Well, dude's a freak. But at least he didn't rape anyone.
I couldn't get past Weiner and plumb in the same sentence.
I don't think Huma will relish the documentary about Weiner......
The documentary takes Weiner's exhibitionism to a whole new level. Why would Huma want to be a part of it?
I would celebrate the end of his political career if I thought it was over.
It would seem axiomatic that all exhibitionists want to come out of the closet. The wonder is not that the truth of Weiner's sexuality was revealed, but that it took so long for it to be revealed. I wonder if he in any way finds all this negative attention in some way gratifying. Isn't that the ultimate purpose of exhibitionism?
Weiner isn't an interesting enough person for a documentary.

While true one has to remember in a country of 300 million there will always be a market for freakshows and train wrecks.
Anyone who thinks that an adult male who sends unsolicited sexually explicit pictures of himself to women can or should be allowed to hold offices of trust and responsibility deserves the problems they will have with such people in office.
And the same goes for Hillary, twice. Once for putting up with a serial adulterer as a husband, and again for blaming half the country for her husband's infidelity instead of him.
I read Huma was too embarrassed to watch the documentary.
Is that a peak into the soul of a woman who may or may not lie for Hillary?
Is it just me or is Huma following in Hillary's footsteps, marrying a charismatic womanizing jerk in the hope of political advancement? The only difference was Clinton was better at covering up, both figuratively and literally.
I've been trying to figure out what useful lesson I could learn from this story. I think the only lesson is: Don't embrace political causes that involve creeps. But I was already against Hillary!, so that's not a useful lesson for me.
