It is a remarkable thing that human live births are nearly equal between the sexes, it's like 101 male births and 99 female births per 200 births.
Hmmm ....two wives or life in prison. It's hard to suss out the difference. It's all I can do to manage a wife and a girlfriend and remain sane.

Well, no, it's not: it's more like 105 male, 95 female. Although sex-selective abortions can change that (e.g., it's 115/85 in China).
In any case, biologically there can't ever be a true "shortage of men" as male fertility is just not the limiting factor.
