"A false rumour that men in Eritrea would be legally obliged to marry at least two women went viral this week."

"But it's a hoax that has hit at least four countries to date, and actually began in Iraq, where it wasn't as implausible as it seems."
... An "official" government document is leaked on social media, bearing a letterhead, or the signature of a supposed dignitary. It reads - and we're paraphrasing here - "Due to the recent troubles in our country, we are experiencing a serious shortage of men, and an abundance of woman. Men are now legally required to take at least two wives, and any that fail to do so will face strict punishment." The punishments range from life imprisonment to the death penalty.

That's a tough choice. Can I see the two women first?

Yeah, but what do you get if you refuse to marry?

Women draw more men than men draw Muhammad.

Sometimes the process is the punishment.

The women of Eritrea, like their neighbor-enemy-cousins the Ethiopians--are known for their beauty. The mixture of Italian and Eritrean blood makes it even better sometimes, but even without the Italian boost the females there are beneficiaries of some good beauty genes.

Perhaps they could go to work for Fox. It's not called the Fox network for nothing.

Send the extra women to China and India and kill two birds with one stone.

You know, I'm going to have to find this, change it to the USA, and show my wife.

Because, I don't want to disobey the law.

Muslim values, but we men have a constitutional protection against cruel and unusual punishment. Even RBG would agree with me on this.

China, with tens of millions more men than women of marrying age, has a bigger problem than these countries. What on earth will China do with 20,000,000 adult males who have zero chance of marriage?

How do you say lebensraum in Mandarin?

It is a remarkable thing that human live births are nearly equal between the sexes, it's like 101 male births and 99 female births per 200 births.

Hmmm ....two wives or life in prison. It's hard to suss out the difference. It's all I can do to manage a wife and a girlfriend and remain sane.

"it's like 101 male births and 99 female births per 200 births."

Well, no, it's not: it's more like 105 male, 95 female. Although sex-selective abortions can change that (e.g., it's 115/85 in China).

In any case, biologically there can't ever be a true "shortage of men" as male fertility is just not the limiting factor.
