"In a seven-page confidential memo that imagines Trump as the party’s presidential nominee, the head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee urges candidates..."
"... to adopt many of Trump’s tactics, issues and approaches — right down to adjusting the way they dress and how they use Twitter. In the memo on the 'Trump phenomenon,' NRSC Executive Director Ward Baker said Republicans should embrace his tough talk about China and 'grab onto the best elements of [his] anti-Washington populist agenda.' Above all, they should appeal to voters as genuine and beyond the influence of special interests...."

Ah yes. As George Burns [IIRC] said, "The key to acting is sincerity. Once you know how to fake that, you've got it made."
They JUST suggested doing that?
These people are paid for these exposes of their glaringly obvious?
"...they should appeal to voters as genuine and beyond the influence of special interests...."
Why don't they just do it rather than "appeal" or "appear" genuine?
right down to adjusting the way they dress and how they use Twitter.
They didn't mention his hair style??
I think the best tactic is to call out the journo-frauds in the media, which is most of them. It's low-hanging fruit.
I know that's the candidate I've been waiting for, a cheap Trump knockoff.
Shorter: grow balls
@pellehDin "The secret of success is sincerity. Once you can fake that you've got it made." Jean Giraudoux (1882 - 1944). See also Fred Allen (1894-1956): "You can take all the sincerity in Hollywood, place it in the navel of a firefly and still have room enough for three caraway seeds and a producer's heart."

No. The memo is over 10 weeks old. It was only recently revealed to the press.
This would be a good idea if they could pull it off. There is no chance of that, however.
And whatever you do, pretend you are against amnesty until after the election.

MEMO TO WOULD-BE RIVALS TO TRUMP, tl/dr version:
Up your con-man game, and say anything.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flabby
Geez! If you have to tell someone to appear genuine, you're getting into Hillary Adviser territory.
Of course if Trump is the nominee, Hillary is our next president and who knows if the GOP can hold the Senate. So we can be seeing plenty more insincerity for the next four years.
These Bruce Jenners, with a few exceptions, would sooner imitate how Carly rocks a dress
Now it looks like they can only claim numerical exaggeration on Trump's Muslim cheering claim. (See video at link.)
And it's the media that keeps making Trump look like the hero.
Trump 100% Vindicated: CBS Reports ‘Swarm’ On Rooftops Celebrating 9/11
People are arguing falsely that the fact that only 8 suspects were apprehended contradicts the “swarm” claim. Read it again. An “investigator” told CBS about the “swarm.” The fact that a certain number were brought into custody does not change the fact that there was a “swarm.” The obvious impression is that of the “swarm,” only eight were brought into custody. Eight people do not swarm on all those rooftops. They “gather.” Look at the video of the rooftop and picture “swarming.”

Many political consultants are fools.
They are applying a general strategy based on polls.
"innovate" must be spelled with the letters, "not naive"
It's official. The Republicans have become Democrats.
I guess somebody had to fill the void when democrats (democratics?) shifted to marxism.
Interesting fact about Wendell Wilkie, to whom Trump is compared. Last major party nominee to die of natural causes during the presidential term to which he sought election (1944). We shouldn't nominate old folks to be president (not that Wilkie was old).
Who doesn't love wacky theme restaurants?! Bring on server flair, I say! Bathe us in a facade of nonsense proudly displayed on the walls!
Once you can fake sincerity, you've got it made.
“Trump has risen because voters see him as authentic, independent, direct, firm, — and believe he can’t be bought,” Baker writes. “These are the same character traits our candidates should be advancing in 2016."
They put out a memo with this obvious piece of advice? What next? Try to avoid the perception that you are a soulless hack whose sole reason for seeking political office is to enable you to exercise power inorder to enrich yourself and inflict suffering on others. Sure, Harry Reid gets away with it, but he's mobbed up.
All you who titter nervously about Trump costing the Republicans the election, the Senate, the hearts and minds . . . do you not see how many conservatives are enthralled with his message? No, he is not the perfect candidate. No, he is probably not the next Reagan. But as time goes on and I listen to what each of them says, I can tell you that I find myself nodding and smiling a lot more during Trump's speeches than anyone else's. Yes, he is a real-estate mogul turned reality TV star who has had ups and downs in the business world. However, he's had many more ups than downs, and if a B-grade actor like Reagan could become the great president that most historians (even liberal ones) acknowledge he was (though, again, not without flaws), there's no reason Trump can't do the same.
Sorry your preferred patsy isn't gonna win the primary. So sad. It's time to get over it.
Knock knock knock.
Is this thing on?
It's the immigration stupid.
Trump toupés for each candidate. Too bad Jindal dropped out. It would look great on him.
Everyone needs to be different by having everyone act like Trump.
Like the comic, "They laughed at Bell. They laughed at Edison. This will have them rolling in the aisles". Subtitled "Not Clear on the Concept".
Why can't they think clearly like Wasserman-Schultz? Oh wait, never mind.
Gotta love 'confidential'. What we have here is Hillary level privacy. The memo itself looks to be nothing special.
The R's have been faking sincerity for past several election cycles. The are great at it. Unfortunately the R electorate has recognized the fake sincerity. Voila - The Donald.
" Wendell Wilkie, to whom Trump is compared."
I actually think Trump is more similar to Andrew Jackson in his appeal to disaffected voters.
Certainly Jackson had more accomplishments but that was a far more serious time in our history.
Hurray. The GOP is already at Stage Five of Kubler-Ross on loss to Trump.
Stage Five: "I can't fight it. I may as well prepare for it.".

The Denial lasted pretty long, but they sped by Anger, Bargaining and Depression.
I think they don't get that the issues aren't the thing.
Rejecting political correctness is.
"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."
Totally missed that thing about immigration, didn't they?
Whether or not Tromp gets the Republican nomination (and I pray he does not, and that Jeb doesn't either), Republicans ought to learn from him. He's had remarkable success connecting with voters (or at least with people who tell pollsters they'll vote).
BTW Wilkie is a good example of what NOT to do. He was so "moderate" and so "reasonable" that he was unable to present himself as an alternative to FDR, who therefore was able to walk all over him. One thing you can be sure of, Tromp won't make that mistake.
"He's had remarkable success connecting with voters"
As Insty has said: "Trump is the symptom, poor GOP leadership is the disease"
Earth Tones is the Answer!!
Why does no one understand?!
I will need Laslo to explain further.
LoL. the NRSC has a long track record of failure. They are clowns and RINO's. So, I'm not surprised that they advise their candidates to copy Trump's honesty and authenticity by being insincere and dishonest.
Why does this so resemble The Revolution's Directorate dealing with Capitan Bonaparte's successes?
Sincerity is key in politics. when you can fake that, you got it made
