"I think it’s important to do things like [the moment of silence]. We’re a connected world, you know — six degrees of separation."

"I must admit, though, I was very disappointed with whoever the fan was who made a comment that I thought was really inappropriate, during the moment of silence. It’s that kind of prejudicial ideology that I think puts us in the position that we’re in today, as a world."

Said Aaron Rodgers, about a fan who shouted "Muslims suck!" during the moment of silence at yesterday's football game.

Well, they don't suck.

They plan. Then they execute.

Ah, that's so nice of him. I'm sure Muslims will reciprocate right quick. They're big on opposing prejudice, after all.

Now if the fan had just shouted "jihadis suck," that would have been OK.

It's the leftist weepy ritual.

Western values do not support themselves. There's kicking ass behind it.

traditionalguy म्हणाले...

Muslims have to put a veil over their women's faces to prevent this sort of thing.

rhhardin म्हणाले...

There's radical muslims, and then the majority of them who provide a comfort zone for the radicals, as Mark Steyn puts it.

Universal values aren't universal. They're Western.

Rogers favors a nice, but meaningless, ritual, that will make him and others "feel good," while actually doing nothing to highlight what is actually going on and who is responsible. Meanwhile, Muslims are planning to kill him, his family and yours and force you to follow Sharia.

I feel the same about my many facebook friends who've temporarily changed their facebook pics to the French Flag colors. Same deal. They can feel good for a day or two about how nice they are, but, if you were to ask them: shouldn't we stop all Muslims from coming to America ... shouldn't we be monitoring mosques, well then you're gonna get a bunch of PC BS. Then more of us will die.

rhhardin म्हणाले...

Science and the possibilities of technology are the first conditions for the factual implementation of the respect for the rights of man. Technical development thanks to the flourishing of theoretical knowledge through which European humanity passed on its way toward its modernity is probably, in itself, the essential modality in which the idea of the rights of man, placed at the center of self-awareness, broadened in its conception and was inscribed or required as the basis of all human legislation; which legislation at least thought of itself as being the rights of man in their indispensable oe hoped-for entirety. A rational discipline, born in Europe, could broaden out and be available to all humanity. Into a world that until then was felt to be doomed to an arbitrary play of forces that (natural or supposedly supernatural, individual and social) only counted in proportion to their power, in the obstinacy that beings and institutions invest in persevering in their being and their traditions -- there came the a priori of the rights of man understood as intellectual a priori, and becoming in fact the measure of all law.

Rodgers is right that it is not a meaningless ritual. And whether the fan is right that Muslims suck is irrelevant. The moment of silence is a moment of introspection and thought, a moment of unity, it's standard before a great contest or great battle to take a moment and mentally prepare for what will follow.

But one fan stole that moment from thousands of people, he decided that he, and he alone, gets to determine who takes their moment of silence and when. He sucks, even of Muslims suck too.

rhhardin म्हणाले...

The moment of silence is imposed by the idiot authorities. It asks for a fan who speaks for the indimitated.

traditionalguy म्हणाले...

Just wait until Hussain Obama rules the Atmosphere starting at Paris next month. Then the Muslims will have to ask permission to burn Christian captives alive. That should help, and that is ALL the Fifth columnist who has the US Military and CIA on a tight leash the better to sponsor Islamic Jihad will allow us to do.

Bryan C म्हणाले...

Coming immediately after a vicious attack by avowed Muslims, proudly celebrated by Muslims, and done in furtherance of Muslim ideology, yelling "Muslims suck!" is not "prejudicial". There's no "pre" about it - it's a profoundly judicial sentiment.

If you disagree with that judgement then man up and say so, but don't pretend that any judgement at all is irrational.

Since the moment of silence is a form of religious exercise and since one of the effects, if not the purpose, of religion is to separate people into insiders and shunned outsiders, showing vocal opposition to a moment of silence under these circumstances is entirely appropriate.

Typical bullshit strawman. No one here has pushed back on Rodgers' objection to a fan shouting during the moment of silence. It's on his opinion that the content of what was said is why the world is thew way it is. That's idiotic. And so are you.

Curious George म्हणाले...

"garage mahal said...

Could have been a Lions fan. Lots of muzzies in the Detroit area.

I doubt a Muslim in Detroit would be as stupid as a racist redneck in Wisconsin to interrupt a moment of silence. Undoubtedly a Walker supporter too.

Like many Americans, I'm sure Rodgers has friends who are Muslim. What Rodgers said was appropriate.

Many progressives want guns banned in the US based on the actions of a minority. Many conservatives want to blame all of Islam based on the actions of a minority.

Not enough Americans cherish liberty

Fan was right. They do suck. And their god hates them. I mean, really despises them, by revealing such pathological, dysfunctional garbage. The west may be decadent, but the west will not tolerate death by a thousand cuts, and will respond eventually in wonderfully disproportionate measures.

Rogers should worry more about disguised coverages and the cover two.

Michael म्हणाले...

I wish I could hear you but the sound of "all Muslims" protesting the massacre is too loud. Man, they are up in arms aren't they?

But high horse.

mikee म्हणाले...

The problem with third world religious fanatics is that they don't have the ability to kill off our military before we move from tolerance & understanding to a genocidal total war footing, which will result in the deaths of our enemies and a whole lot of collateral damage.

We can live with collateral damage. We have before. We should hope not to have to do so again, and try to eliminate the enemies without killing a lot of innocents. But at the end of the day, we can live with collateral damage if that is what it takes to eliminate our enemies.

Curious George म्हणाले...

"mccullough said...

So you want to equate the actions of a few nuts to Islamic extremism? Seriously?

mccullough म्हणाले...

Curious George,

There have been a relatively small number of killings by radical Islamists in the US since 9/11, just as their have been a relatively small number of "mass shootings" in the US during the same period. I'd equate the two. No reason to curtail liberty.

mccullough म्हणाले...

Michael,

Get off your high horse cliches. Radical Islamists mostly kill other Muslims. You have nothing to worry about in the US, so relax.

Unknown म्हणाले...

Muslims are enjoying an interval of comparative tolerance just now. What's coming when they finally provoke the fight they're intent on forcing will be a great deal worse than insults. May this time be the last, and they never recover. No one outside their poisonous faith could wish any differently and be truthful.

Although I properly despise the Muslim faith, my view is benevolent compared to their suicidal defenders here and in Europe. I look at these people and just don't get it. We should leave the Muslims alone in their own countries and keep them there. It is insanity to sell weapons to them, even. The culpability of those of our own leaders who just will not keep their hands off of other people's countries is nearly as large as the cultural insanity called Islam. Even at this point, getting rid of the Muslims we've got here would be the easiest part of the job if we would leave them alone to cut one another's throats there.

As it is the multi-culti crowd in charge will exacerbate the steadily growing rage of people otherwise content to ignore everything further away than their own relatives until something much worse than the chronic internecine blood letting of the Muslims befalls them. This guy at the football game is one of those who would never care who blows up whom until the fools who import the Muslim poison force him to care. His wrath a billion times amplified will be the result.

Such insight. On the one hand, you have fanatics butchering hundreds of people like cattle.
On the other hand, you have somebody being rude.

Yes, they are both practicing prejudicial ideology.... and, therefore... equally to blame.

Dan
PS Actually, the killers weren't butchering people like cattle. They weren't as humane as a slaughterhouse.

Not in an attic, dude, but down here in the real world where my bullshit meter works perfectly. It doesn't need tuning when some virtue-signaling is in the air and when it is considered sophisticated thinking to assert that not all muslims are terrorists. down here in the real world the syllogism is that whereas all muslims are not terrorists all terrorists are muslims. And, no, fuck-ups who shoot up a school are not terrorists, so retain that insight.
So, I suppose I do have something to say, just something that you don't like.

Although I read the blog everyday, I seldom read the comments. Frankly, I'm stunned. I applaud Rogers, and I'm not a Packers' fan. And I won't even touch upon the crassness of yelling out during a moment of silence.

And McCullough is right. The vast majority of the victims of these scum are Muslims. To throw more fuel onto the fire, I think we need a new movement - Muslim Lives Matter.
