"Don't you worry, boy. I'll get you out of here."

Goodbye to Moochie, Kevin Corcoran, who has died at the age of 66.

"He was the quintessential bratty kid brother or mischievous moppet..." His brother was almost always Tommy Kirk. Kirk lives on, at 73.

That kid trying to open the gate to let out the rabid dog reminded me of Kerry negotiating the Iran nuke deal.

Except there's no benign, sentimental history associated with the Iranian regime, as there was with Old Yella.

Loved the movie and the books (Old Yeller and Savage Sam) when I was growing up. And great analogy, EDH.

Oh, golly. I'm old. There goes another piece of my childhood. Another piece of my heart.

"Old Yeller." ::sigh::

What a great Irish face that kid had. Growing up, there were a zillion kids in Chicago who looked like him. I was one of them.

I always tear up when Travis has to shoot Old Yeller. One of my favorite scenes is when Chuck Connors trades Old Yeller for a horny toad and a meal.

Beverly Washburn (Lisbeth) is also still alive; she's 71.

A man should cry only twice in life: when he watches Travis shoot Old Yeller and ... I forget the other time.

Note: Kevin Corcoran was married 43 years. Makes me like him even more.

Yeah, Fess Parker is out on a cattle drive, Chuck Connors shows up, and he's ready to give up his dog for a meal with the beautiful Dorothy Maguire. Horny toad, indeed!

Fess Parker...

or...

Chuck Connors?

Quien es muy macho?

Chuck Conners made a porn film before he went legit. Does that count for anything?

God bless you Moochie. RIP

The end to Old Yeller, and the scene in where Atticus Finch shoots the rabid dog and then tells his kids to stay away from the corpse until it is removed, should be required viewing for every dog lover. Pets are not family members, they are responsibilities of owners.

I humbly await PETA and their minions, in the hopes of hitting a few of them where it hurts (with words) as they whine.

...the scene in To Kill a Mockingbird....

MY pets are family members.

My mother took me downtown to watch this at the Fabulous Fox. Oh my....my first touch of mortality. I cried like a, well, little boy.

The Krystal hamburgers afterward helped.

When Confederate Railroad wanted to convey how evil a woman was they wrote "she never cried when Old Yeller died." I have to admit, that would have to be one heartless female.
