... if...Oh. If.
... he declares his intention to seek his party's nomination as late as the day of the debate, eligibility criteria released Monday by CNN shows.Well, that's damned generous.
Do they hate Hillary?
I suspect that they just love ratings. But this facilitation of Biden's coy will-I-won't-I routine feels biased.

"But this facilitation of Biden"
Paging Mr. Spatula. Mr. Laslo Spatula.
Bias isn't the word for it.
Is that facilitation or felicitation?
Obama's DOJ is the source of the leaked NY Times story of July 24, which sent Hillary into "death by 1000 cuts" mode. At least, that's what Nate Silver thinks.
If so, it looks like high up in the centers of power, Obama switched horses from Hillary to Biden midstream, as they say. Why would he do this? Biden is certainly more likeable than Hillary, but he's old and very late to the party. Palace intrigue abounds.
Oh, there is no palace intrigue here. She is getting it from Obama and his minions from 2008. It was never going to be smooth for her now with him in the WH. Biden is his lapdog -- he won't screw him but Hillary might, at least that is the fear -- you know, kind of like Karma is a bitch and poof goes his legacy.
"feels biased"
Back to faux surprise, right?
@BAG: "Obama switched horses"
No. H was never O's horse.
It comes down to his pick. Slow Joe is his best bet. But not ideal, from a campaign standpoint: O cleared the Dem bench, so he has no capable successor who will also maintain his legacy. But a Joe win, if they can manage it, is ideal for him, since it will be due to the O machine and leaves him in charge of the party, ready to pick the next nominee.
He's not going to run--the media wants him to because they want to see a real race, the Dems want him to because they're far less sure of Hillary's chances in the general election now that they've seen her in action again, and those of us who think the Clintons are a dangerous gang of incompetents want to see him run as we would like to see someone stop the Hillarycopalyspe.
But he's not going to run--it's practically October, he hasn't organized a team (and most of the Dem consultants and volunterrs are already on the Hillary payroll) or raised any money (and Hillary is doing everything possible to drain Democratic pockets). He likes the attention, but will likely soon announce he isn't running. If he was going to run, he would have announced months ago--I'm guessing the loss of his son hit him hard and he's just not willing to go through what the Clintons would put him through.
CNN is not biased. They are running a business. And the question of Biden's participation is obviously an issue.
The Obama factor is interesting in that no hard information has leaked. My guess is that he mostly wants a democrat to win and that will govern his actions. He must know that Clinton is an incompetent fraud and Biden is a dope, but they are democrats and no one else has a chance at this point. So, he will figure out which one has the best chance of winning and act accordingly. If their chances are about equal, then it will get interesting, with his choice between true neutrality and helping Biden. My guess is he helps Biden at that point, since I assume he likes Biden and dislikes Hillary.
Though all my prediction goes right down the tube if Hillary gets indicted. In that case, there's a mad scramble and they quickly try to get Biden in there. But that's not ideal for the Democrats, as it will have lost a lot of time for them (though on the other hand, it means less time for Biden to have been attacked).
"I suspect that they just love ratings. But this facilitation of Biden's coy will-I-won't-I routine feels biased."
Better for Biden not to announce, then show up on CNN the next day critiquing excerpts from the debate.
I am Laslo.
And on a related note--why is Debbie Wasserman-Shultz still DNC head? Usually they toss out party heads after they've had an election debacle, and 2014 was certainly that for the Democrats. And it's not as though she distinguished herself in any positive way. Does she have something over on someone?
This may dilute Sanders and thus help Hillary.
To Brando, Biden is a lifetime politician (as was his son). He has lusted after the presidency for at least 30 years. Good chance the nomination is about to drop in his lap. And you think he will pass on the chance?
Here is the test. Look at everything Biden has done starting with the leaking of the purported deathbed request by his son that he run. Is there anything that he has done or said that would be inconsistent with announcing his candidacy to great publicity and suspense in late October?
Biden does not need the massive political machine. He has 100% name recognition and the whole thing likely will be over in, at most, about five months. If he beats Hillary in the early primaries (or if Sanders and he take turns beating her), or if she implodes in scandal, Hillary is done and Biden is the nominee.
"Is that facilitation or felicitation?"
I think it is pronounced "fallatio."
Democrats are starting to panic. The Planned Parenthood thing and Carly (A female if you hadn't noticed) is coming down on them like the train that is the light at the end of the tunnel.
George Washington
John Adams
James Madison
Thomas Jefferson
Abraham Lincoln
FDR
Harry Truman
Dwight Eisenhower
Reagan
.......
Joe Biden?
One of those things just doesn't belong.
I think it is pronounced "fallatio."
The important thing is NOT TO SWALLOW.
"To Brando, Biden is a lifetime politician (as was his son). He has lusted after the presidency for at least 30 years. Good chance the nomination is about to drop in his lap. And you think he will pass on the chance?"
It does seem uncharacteristic, but these days there's such a need for fundraising and ground organization that each month he delays works against him. Perhaps he could still jump in by the end of the month, but with the Iowa caucuses in January that would give him less than three months (in middle of the holidays) to get everything in gear.
It might be he's setting himself up as a stalking horse, in case Hillary truly implodes, but most of her support is simply due to the fact that Sanders has a low cieling among Democrats (unless he can get more blacks and hispanics behind him). Biden jumping in at this point could be enough to throw Hillary into a real race which she likely will lose.
"Brando said...
...I'm guessing the loss of his son hit him hard and he's just not willing to go through what the Clintons would put him through."
Joe Biden would off his entire family to be POTUS.
But this facilitation of Biden's coy will-I-won't-I routine feels biased.
Feels? I sniff out that kind of effluent from afar, long before I'm liable put my hands in it. But if one is suffers from olfactory agnosia I suppose there's no avoiding that.
Emotive Joe gets to follow Obama and become Vice President of the UN Government for Climate Rulenunder Obama by being picked as the President of the American Provence where he can lead from behind Obama, way behind.
There is no way Obama and Jarrett will let Bill Clinton take their loot.
Run Joe run!
And on a related note--why is Debbie Wasserman-Shultz still DNC head?
Being a long-time practitioner of fallatio Debbie Wasserman-Schultz's position in the DNC is more a matter of giving than being.
If the Democrats didn't have low or biased standards, they would have none at all.
It would actually be pretty funny if they had him participate even though he had t announced. He could take all kinds of shots at her. Saying "If I was running I'd be exoected say...." But then have deniability "of course I'm not actually saying that..."
Run Joe run!
Yes, do! Have a massive coronary while your at it, as geezers like you are wont to do. Better yet, perhaps instead you should have a nice mall-walk at the White House, taking time to check your blood pressure at regular intervals. And be sure to get enough roughage. And buy the industrial-strength Polident -- it just won't do to have your upper plate fall onto the podium mic.
Slow Joie is sooo old he thinks Scott Walker is what he uses to creep along between the bed and the bathroom every morning.
Man, Republicans get all kinds of criteria while Democrats get "saved seats". Nice.
Biden has a time issue. To qualify for primaries, you have to be in at a certain date...oh wait, election laws only work on Republicans. Democrats always get waivers...
the Democrats have an incredibly weak bench. 70 y/o Slow Joe Biden is their backup to Hillary.
Amazing.
"The important thing is NOT TO SWALLOW."
If storks bring white babies and crows bring black babies, what brings no babies at ?
And on a related note--why is Debbie Wasserman-Shultz still DNC head?
Who is going to replace her?
"Who is going to replace her?"
They could tie a brick to a chair and it's more likely to produce a good idea than she is.
Why should they be forbidden from hating Hillary? After all, she; Only was a party to the massacre of a US ambassador and other Americans; "Lies like she breaths; Etc.
If storks bring white babies and crows bring black babies, what brings no babies at ?
Swallows of course.
If Bark has the torpedoes to sink Hillary, Joe doesn't need money or an organization to get the nomination.
Astounding.
Joe B has been the butt of a standard joke about being Obama's insurance against assassination for six long years. He falls directly into the mold of those labeled as committing sexual assault under the current campus/DOJ definitions. (And there are dozen of videos of such practices floating around). He's dropped out of an earlier race for POTUS due to blatantly plagiarizing a life story. He's an "old, white guy" (even older than Hillary). He has more gaffes than all the fishing boats in Florida. And....
And he, Joe Freakin' Biden, is being held out as the savior of the Democratic Party?
"Good chance the nomination is about to drop in his lap."
Yep. Guess he did his community service and got his record expunged. How many people know he ran in 1988 and why he withdrew? Ancient history to far too many voters. They need to be reminded. If it disqualified him then, it should still do so. LIV, they'll be the death of us all.
Hillary and Obama are at war behind the scenes. They both have enough on the other to put each other in jail. They both hate each other.
In this fight there is only one thing to cheer for.
"And he, Joe Freakin' Biden, is being held out as the savior of the Democratic Party?"
It's all relative--look at the rest of the field. Doesn't exactly give non-delusional Democrats confidence.
Biden will run if Hillary withdraws or is indicted. Strictly backup. He will be the McGovern of this generation. Sorry George, unfair comparison to you. VP will be Klobuchar. Fauxchantas would be ruined by oppo research
Rubio in a rout.
Not much in the way of comments. Unusual for Hillary and Biden.
I think Biden will choose the path that most likely is to secure the nomination. That probably means he announces in late October, although it also is possible he will wait for a later collapse and then walk in and take her delegates and win the rest necessary for the nomination.
It is possible that Biden is "in the know" about what is coming down the road for Hillary and, if he knows she is likely to be indicted (for example), then he could just sit and wait.
Seems to me that the relief will be so palpable in certain parts of the D party whenever Joe decides to run that he doesn't need to waste his energy or money at this point. Iowa may be first, but how many delegates are there? Same with NH, although it has, historically had a greater impact. Hillary probably won't be indicted, but I would not be surprised if someone "close" to her is. If I were a D I would certainly be embarrassed by the candidates on offer. Of course, Trump is no prize either.
Any of the Dem retreads will be a great president. No, really. It's not like we have any problems to fix or anything. Forward.
Trying to imagine the chaos that might ensue with Biden as President and a VP less capable than he.
Trying to imagine the chaos that might ensue with Biden as President and a VP more capable than he.
"It's not like we have any problems to fix or anything."
Unfortunately I don't think anyone is going to fix our biggest problems. GOP wants to tax less and Dems want to spend more, despite our recurring deficits. We have an over-complicated tax code that encourages inefficiency by trying to control behavior rather than simply raise revenue, and an entitlement system that is on its way towards insolvency--and the only area of spending anyone talks of cutting is in the "discretionary" portion which is an ever-decreasing proportion of the federal budget.
And if that's not enough, there seems to be bipartisan support for getting us forever entangled in foreign adventures.
So at this point our choice isn't so much "who is going to fix our problems" but "who is going to do less harm relative to the other choices". Depressing, but there it is--and we deserve this, because our leaders are reacting to what they think we want.
Biden lost his VP debate with Palin, for goodness' sake, and did nothing memorable against Ryan in his next VP debate. And still people are expecting his presence to somehow energize the Dem debate?
Hillary will crush him like the servile lackey he is, and will utterly destroy Bernie's angry old man act, and Hillary will suddenly be seen as unstoppable again.
God have mercy on our souls, for Hillary will have none.
