If/when society loses the ability to read analog clocks, we're going to have a problem communicating positions on a circle. I guess we could go to compass points, but I bet there are a significant percentage of the population who are not going to understand "South South East".
Buh-bye Rick. Deja Vu all over again. He was my governor. I couldn't stand him. Governor of Texas is a pretty easy job. You can do almost nothing and then claim economic success. Which is kind of what he did, just like his predecessor. Only Rick actually did some things that helped his big business cronies.
When Roger Simon fell in love with last go-around, my comment was, "just wait".
Why are all these candidates at the noise level of support continuing to burn money? If you are polling in 14th place, why are you still there? Hoping 10 people ahead of you quit? It's not like he's going to do better in NH.
Rick Perry gets mocked for a slip of the tongue, because he was mocked for a slip of memory four years ago. Has anyone ever listened to him speak about things not relating to clocks?
Obama is nearly mute without a teleprompter, an idiot when he goes off script, (remember, he has never updated his count of the number of states, but now that he's been to Alaska, he may realize there are at least 58), and intentionally misleads the gullible, as he did in Alaska posing next to the "1961" sign at Exit Glacier. He drove past the "1815" sign, but that won't support his claim that humans are killing Exit Glacier, so never mind!
Rick Perry may not be a good nominee. But not because he said a broken clock is right once a day. Scheiss.
My thought was military time. Anyway remember how stupid Dan Quayle is, and how smart our current President and Vice President are? It's weird how certain people get characterized as dumb and then any misstatement is taken as evidence of that, but other people can misspeak and say all sorts of idiotic stuff but they're never characterized as dumb.
[Ooh, right, don't forget that "the playing field is tilted and it's wrong to complain about that fact," doing so just makes one a whiner, life isn't fair and all that.]
Sure, military time, but there is a universally known phrase and it ain't "A broken clock is right once a day". He flubbed it. Doesn't mean he's stupid, but it is funny.
Clock faces aside, wasn't Perry's bigger gaffe the substance that the "right" -- either once or twice a day -- is that Perry is dropping out?
In an interview with Fox News, Perry was asked about speculation coming from Donald Trump that Perry would drop out of the race. “A broken clock is right once a day,” Perry replied with a smile, before adding that he was still in the race.
I wouldn't count Rick Perry out yet. After all, they laughed at Louis Armstrong when he said was going to the moon. Now he's up there, laughing at them.
As I mentioned in the trump misspoke post, Rick Perry played the gotcha game just like his opponents wanted him too. He misspoke (like EVERYONE DOES) and instead of laughing it off and saying who cares, he acted like it matters.
Now another slip of the tongue gets the tut-tutting of the cool crowd.
You have to make allowances for Perry. Remember, he IS a Texas Aggie, one of that august breed that can make fools of themselves without half trying. (Hook 'em Horns!!)
Seems to me she should have, you know, taught them.
"A college education for anyone who wants one!" is the inevitable sound-bleat on the lips of any and all proglodyte office seekers, especially when they wish to avoid addressing the scandalous decline in American academic achievement presided over and almost entirely the fault of their major patron, Big Education. (Every asshole with some apocryphal tale about vaccination or antibiotics to peddle knows and uses the Big Pharma meme, so in the same spirit I hereby introduce Big Education, aka Big Teach.)
Thus the flow of scholarship and grant money to persons ill-equipped for higher education, which in turn stimulates the growth of remedial programs for the college-bound, among them how to read a clock.
I am still waiting on tickets on the intercontinental railroad. I have been studying up on my Austrian tapes with some former "corpsemen" in the hopes that the train goes to Europe. Of course, maybe it only goes to Hawaii, which we all know is in Asia. I think the station for the train will be in "New Pennsylvania."
Oh Barrack! I wish we could learn all of these kinds of things, but knowledge like the above is reserved for presidents of the Harvard Law Review.
And this is exactly what the MSM wants. Trump says something - anything - about immigration, women, the economy, etc., and it leads the media wires. Meanwhile, nothing that Cruz or Perry say is EVER talked about, unless it's a flub. Meanwhile Democratic candidates say absurd things and perjure themselves and it's only talked about if they're absolutely forced to. The idea is to present the GOP as a bunch of idiots and racists without ever addressing anything they say of substance while hiding actual substantive issues on the Democratic side as much as possible.
LOL! I would vote for Perry if he promised to keep these bon mots coming. Obama's stupidity and malaprops aren't nearly as funny. 57 states, corpse-man, speaking Austrian, the intercontinental railroad, the Middle east is an issue that plagued the region for centuries, seeking greater inefficiencies in healthcare, defending his Muslim faith while asserting his Christianity, welcoming all the fallen soldiers attending a speech... Yeah, Obama says a lot of stupid stuff. You'd almost think he wasn't the smartest president ever!!!!!

True if your clock is digital and uses military time. ;)
Fool me once, shame on - shame on you. Fool me - you can't get fooled again.
He meant a digital clock, you know, one with the numbers that move. He was getting with the times (now that his campaign is over).
My wife had to replace the analog clock in her class room because none of her high school students could read it any more.

He was so close...!
Three times a day in the fall, some days.
Once in the spring, some days.
Some geek noted that a broken clock is right only once on the first day of Daylight Savings Time.
If/when society loses the ability to read analog clocks, we're going to have a problem communicating positions on a circle. I guess we could go to compass points, but I bet there are a significant percentage of the population who are not going to understand "South South East".
Remember when Obama visited 57 states?
Oh, Barack!!

And he still had 2 to go?

Even a blind squirrel finds a broken clock once in a while.
A great debate memory. I luv it when Paul gives him the high five.

Wonder how many kids today figure 12 0'clock High must be a doper flick?
What MathMom said - the double standard is blatant, but, sigh, Perry's still got to deal with it.
When Rick Perry has a broken clock he gets it fixed! He doesn't wait around for it to be right a second time.
A broken clock is right once per day and once per evening.

With a stupid tag no less. That was when we knew Obama had lost Althouse.

My thought was also military time. I was stunned at the number of people who are ignorant of military time, or the 24 hour clock. Grown adults.

Clyde: "Even a blind squirrel finds a broken clock once in a while."
It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to know that.
Go easy on Rick. He fires alcoholics without fear or favor. I like him.
He is just getting used to the fake glasses, and that has thrown him off his game.

Who the fuck cares?

Three Thumbs Up!!!
His VCR is blinking 12 AM. Come on, he moved past analog long ago.
I think Perry is subtly reminding us by using military time that he's the only Presidential candidate who's had military service.
I wouldn't count Rick Perry out yet. After all, they laughed at Louis Armstrong when he said was going to the moon. Now he's up there, laughing at them.

A broken Breitling navitimer cosmonaute is right once a day.

Q: How do you make a one-armed Aggie fall out of a tree?
A: Wave to him.
Well he is right. It's right once a day. It's also right twice a day.
Obama thinks there's 57 states. So which is worse? Obama is now president.
Thinking there are 57 states does not disqualify you to be president.
I'd rather have a president who flubs a line than who thinks the Iran nuclear deal is a good one.
sinz52: Some geek noted that a broken clock is right only once on the first day of Daylight Savings Time.
A bigger geek (that's me) noted that this is only true if the clock is stopped between 2:00 and 3:00. Otherwise, it's still right twice that day.

A European digital clock.
jr565: That's true, he didn't say a broken clock is right ONLY once a day.
Maybe Perry's secretly a programmer and thinks in logic tables.
Is a broken clock right once a day? Y
Is a broken clock right twice a day? Y
Is a broken clock right thrice a day? N

Its 2012 all over again. People like the idea of a Perry Candidacy, until they actually see Perry on TV.
And then the dream dies.
Perry gaffe during the 2008 debate put him in "potatoe" territory, from which he will never escape.
