I asked Grebe about a New York Times article from last month that purported to explain Walker’s electoral success. With a hint of dark conspiracy, the article suggested that Walker had been an unremarkable and unsophisticated local politician until Grebe and a band of big-money right-wing ideologues plucked him from obscurity in order to advance their schemes....
The article “was a totally unfair characterization of our relationship,” Grebe says, offering several specific examples of ways in which he says the piece was misleading in order to fit the preconceived narrative of its authors. (In one, he says that he responded to a question about first meeting Walker by saying that he recalled it came at a meeting of college Republicans at Marquette University, where the future governor was a student. In the telling of the Times, the insignificant aside became a big moment in Grebe’s grooming of Walker for future manipulation).

"Walker Readies Himself as the Candidate of the Mainstream Conservative Movement."
A Weekly Standard headline for an article by Stephen Hayes that is mainly about Michael Grebe, who reportedly will be named Walker's campaign chairman.

Only Tonette Walker manipulates weak minded Scottie Walker, that is assumed to be an amateur from the outer boondocks (which means from outside of NYC.) It seems Tonette is a Sicilian.
Unfortunately Walker has been making some major, unforced errors.
I think he'll go as far as Tim Pawlenty did.
The New York Times is the worst. They should rename themselves the Democratic Enquirer. Of course, they'd have to up their accuracy so as not to embarrass the National Enquirer.
The Times, no doubt, has Walker's best interests at heart.
He and Jindal are my favorites so far. A Democrat friend likes Christie. No first term Senators for me.
Walker won't lose because he is making "major, unforced errors". He'll lose because of who he is and what his stances are.
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) met with billionaire hedge-fund manager Dan Loeb on Wednesday, Business Insider has learned.
Walker was seeking Loeb’s key financial support ahead of his all-but-certain presidential campaign, but he didn’t get it. According to sources close to the situation, the sticking point was Loeb’s support of same-sex marriage.
Deep-pocketed Wall Streeters have been vocal about the fact that they’re no longer interested in supporting socially conservative candidates this go-round. They have traded in their social values for conservative fiscal policies over the last few election cycles, and it hasn’t gotten them anywhere.
They’re tired of making that losing trade.
“I tend to be more Republican in my views, but socially very liberal. I’m going to have trouble with any Republican that does not disavow a fixation with social issues,” billionaire investor Leon Cooperman said in a recent interview with Wall Street Week.
“Republicans have to understand that, because young people in our country are not grabbed by those issues.”
A spokeswoman for Walker did not immediately respond to our request for comment on this story.

What I learned about American politics from the Australian version of Business Insider is: (1) People who run hedge funds for a living understand politics better than people who do politics for a living, and (2) Republicans can only win by appealing to people who don't vote.
" I’m going to have trouble with any Republican that does not disavow a fixation with social issues,"
The new executive director of a group of billionaire political activists said to the group;
“You know what they say about the difference between a terrorist and a billionaire,” quips Judy Wade of McKinsey & Company, who succeeded Gluckstern as the organization’s chief and was, like her predecessor, deposed. “You can negotiate with a terrorist.”
She was quickly replaced by someone more compliant. Fred Siegel explains.
The Weekly Standard is obsessed with the New York Times.
NYT like all liberals and groups thereof are chronic liars.
Walker is a principled conservative and a winner with successful executive experience. No other candidate can match that.
Gee, Ann, where did all your coffee clatch conservative commenter go?
I think Jindal is Walker's equal on policy matters but he has not done well with speeches. We still have to see how Walker does but I think he is the favorite when it shakes out. I like Carly but she has no political experience except being beaten by Barbara Boxer in California.
Christie is still to be seen on a national stage. New Jersey is nobody's model of governance but he has done pretty well.

I can't speak for all the commenter but I first skipped over this article just from the Walker headline. There's only so much Garage conspiracy routing and Madisonguy smear-wishing and the back and forth from Mark and the other "locals" that I can take. To my surprise the article was a different kind of Walker article and there really wasn't much of what I expected above.
Maybe this weak outcome to a Walker post is another sign he's cooling off, campaign-wise, what with bigmouth Donald sucking all the oxygen out of the room.

Walker is very principled, and an Eagle Scout. He would never ever lie. All the talk about criminal schemes is just libtard nonsense. He's a devout Christian for heavens sake!

Glad to see you agree, garage.
Mike Grebe is an outstanding and honorable person. He will be an effective campaign manager for Walker.
Well, someone on the campaign does not know how to use Twitter, but did anyway.
Last night Walkers twitter account accidentally announced his candidacy, then deleted the tweet minutes later.
Hilarious mistake right out of the gate. Cannot even announce right ....
